Seems like One Piece budget was more than 16 million euros per episode.
It's almost as if they were waiting to advertise until right before it came out or something.
Since they just drop it in one big batch anyway there's no point in pushing something months in advance.

Also it's disappointing that it was cut down to 8 episodes but hopefully season 2 is 10 episodes. I think they can condence Loguetown into a single episode and that will give them more episodes to work with for Alabasta.
@Sun-D That’s what crossed my mind too. If it’s actually the case then sigh. Fucking Cowboy Bebop. Can’t stand the thought of One Piece getting fucked because of another series. Hopefully that’s not what happened.
I think it works ok at 8. I'm more curious if a potential S2 will have Reverse Mountain be its own full episode or combine with something else.
We've also seen stuff that indicates Arlong shows up at Baratie (and Krieg doesn't) to make him a more effective season-wide villain. While Crocodile certainly doesn't have that problem, I wonder if we'll see any changes to Drum Island to have it exist as less of a complete side adventure.

I've lost track of how many times I've watched that sanji/zeff (and patty!) clip. From the moment they first dropped the baratie concept pics I've been absolutely in love with the entire aesthetic surrounding it.

In the interview the director said they combined storyline of krieg and arlong (and had to argue with Oda becuase he didn't agree at first) but Krieg has been casted and will als appear. So I think Krieg will be there just to be destroyed/caught by Mihawk, and then Arlong will step in.
I guess it doesn't work to have way too many different villains in 1 season, 8 episodes, and very confusing for new fans, so they made the right call.
But no smoker and no gin is still a bummer. Or maybe gin is there as cameo.
Seems like Oda was in California for the fan screening.

By now Im kinda guessing they made Kreig the only survivor of Mihawk's attack, to make him more menacing.

I can understand cutting out Loguetown for time (Luffy beating Arlong and getting his bounty is a good book end in itself), I just want it to be included somewhere, hopefully the beginning of the would-be season 2. Now if they had to cut down on Smoker/Tashigi time that's one thing (or even Buggy's return), but the town itself, I'd like to have.
Kind of weird not to have the season finale being the entry to grand line. But I guess it works if this happens to be a one-off thing so they don't blueball everyone.
@Dahaka yeah, I don't like this decision. I hope they are able to adapt Sanji's scene of feeding someone starving in one way or another because that makes up a lot of his character. I like Garp's inclusion but then I have to wonder if there really is a need for it outside of fan service and trying to do a GoT approach. I think he will have some screentime which I will then argue would be better serve for Gin. Of course, if this is supposed to run for 10-20 years then my thoughts would be different but Gin+Krieg would work better than Garp, Coby and Helmeppo training arc/screentime inclusion if this can be consumed as a closed/one season thing if Netflix decides to scrap a season two. But trusting Netflix with any form of competent writing is somehow riskier than skydiving with a blindfold on.

I've really been trying to avoid watching leaks on youtube, but every time I fail, and every time it looks better and better.
Garp is said to be cast for 2 episodes only.
However I have a feeling Smoker will be cut all together. Which imo would be doable but not ok since Garps role character isnt to chase Luffy but more like casually check on him.
So I would expect to like to see Tashigi and Smoker season 2. But with how they are going hard with Coby Helmepo and Garp I am 90% sure we ll get Smoker and Tashigi cut
I agree with Sanji and Gin.
Gin can be cut but the Sanji feeding sceen is important. Maybe he ll just do it for Krieg instead

They didn't say they cut off Kreig, but that they merged his story line with Arlong, so I'm assuming Sanji will be feeding some fishman instead of Gin, but we'll see. I think Hachi instead of Gin would work quite well.
I wouldn't trust Netflix with anything, but thankfully Oda is involved and he wants this to be a success as much as we, and the studio making the whole things has enough respect for him that they won't do anything he doesn't agree to. He actually reads scripts and gives them notes, and they rewrite it. He doesn't like a scene and want them to reshoot? They shoot it again.
They clearly understand that Oda is the main ingredient to success, and it shows.

Nice. Couldn't help but to say back in 2005, an idea of a One Piece Live Action would garner a lot of negative backlash. Essentially the idea would be horrible or not work and if you suggested it they will look down on you.
Already I was eager for the Live Action for two years and was excited to see how people would say about it and One Piece Fandom covering it up. It would be so much fun.
Now today is Wednesday so I look forward to midnight later.
For some reason, it's like some "fans" are actively rooting for it to fail? And, if you are doing that? Then you are not a fan. It's like they feel it somehow degrades the Anime or something, like if you don't watch Anime, you don't deserve to have a series like this?
It is very weird. It feels like a very gatekeeping thing? Not sure how to completely articulate it My hope is, if people do actually watch it, and don't like it? Which is fair, I am not saying you have to like it. But, please try and not be an ass to the people that do like it.
Having One Piece become the first great LA, Manga/Anime thing, would be amazing. Out of all things, no one thought something like One Piece could do it?

But, I am a completely fine with changes to the story, personally think it would be boring, if it was one to one, which is impossible anyways. As long as the heart of what makes One Piece great is still there? The themes, the sense of adventure, a big world, that is connected in so many ways? I'll be good. Anime fans are the worst and one piece fans are the worst of the worst.
Toxic Marvel and DC fans actively root against each other and accuse reviewers of being paid and biased but One Piece fans are the only ones who accuse their own property adaptaion’s good reviews of being part of a larger conspiracy.

I actually get it. I love his infectious charm and the person Inaki feels like Luffy, but his delivery is nothing like Tanaka or whoever does the English dub. Nevertheless, this is actually the trailer that convinced me he can be the voice more than everything else before it. Weird.

TBF I don't think even most seiyuus can reach Tanaka's goat status.
I like his delivery so far, from what i have heard they used the worst edited dialogues in the trailer and the delivery is better in context.
