I get the feeling the MCU has really ruined what banter is for some people. That line from Luffy is not really a quip.

RE: PPPPPP
The idea with Lucky is that if he was selfish and played for himself then he would probably be the best musician out of all of them. But he got so influenced by outside sources as a child that he began playing exclusively to make others happy and it made him worse. Sorachika wants him to go back to being the selfish version becuase he believes Lucky is holding himself back but Lucky doesn't want that because he doesn't want to become something he thinks is uncareing / unkind (like his father).

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
Vivi's been gone long enough that her power could literally be anything. We have no idea what she did in those 2 years, maybe her and Kohza trained with each other every day or something. If Vivi needs to be strong enough to deal with actual threats then she will be.
As for Carrot we'll see in the next chapter whether it happens or not. I would like it to as I would like an ew crew member, but we'll see. One thought I did have though is that Carrot does have another reason to join now. She's been asked to be King but she clearly seemed hesitant about it, although not totally against it. The idea that people had for Momo - going out to sea to become stronger and learn how to be a true leader - could be used for Carrot instead. And with one of the themes of the next saga absolutely being what it means to be a King (Pirate King, Im, Vivi, Revolutionaries) this could track. But next chapter will decide that.

RE: Chapter 1086: The Five Elders
Hopefully Stephen can go into it a bit more on the podcast on to why he went with these definitions. Ruler can also be taken in a different way to King (as a hero can also be a ruler) but Frame and Flame imply very different things. Frame makes it sound like a ship but Flame makes it sound like a power source.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I don't think you've been understanding what Toga's gone through fully. I feel like the little flashbacks we've been getting for her shows that she's not innately evil or murderous, it's that her quirk gives her an unnatural attraction to blood to the point where she wants to drink it. When she was a young child she didn't know that was wrong but she also never killed anything in order to drink its blood, she just found already dead things. But her parents and society at large absolutely ostricized her and called her a freak and unnatural for doing things that to her felt normal. While she tried initially to hide this feeling and be 'normal' it was mentally taxing and no one was willing to listen to her, everyone from family to other audlts to class mates called her a freak and weirdo, which lead to her eventually snapping and killing someone.
All she wanted was to be treated normally, like everyone else, despite her quirk but no one gave her the time of day and it forced her into becoming a villain. But she doesn't want to be one. The reason she doesn't take a villain name is because she just wants to be herself and be acknowldged for it. The reason Twice's quirk is the only one she can replicate from the villain group is because he was the only one that fully accepted her just being her (at least that she knows) and so she loved him for that reason.
I don't think anyone here thinks that Toga is going to get off scott free. Just as Shigiraki is also a serial killer, he's also a victim of manipulation and abuse and he may also get Talk no Jutsu'd. But there will be punishment for that in the end, like life in prison for both of them. What Ochako has recognised and what she is saying here is that all Toga needed to avoid this path is just to have someone to listen to her side of things and understand who she is. Someone to treat her like she's normal, despite her quirk. And that's what Ochako is saying she'll do. She can't forgive her for killing lots of people and she can't absolve her of her crime but she can visit her in jail, be her friend and be someone she can lean on. Someone she can be a normal girl around where they can talk about romance and fashion and anything else 'normal' high school girls would talk about.
Ultimately, whether this all ends up being satisfying or not is going to depend on how Hori ends this. If Toga does literally just get away with murder and is fully forgiven by everyone for her crimes then that's bad. She has no 'bring everyone back to live again power' that Pain had in Naruto, which was the author trying to absolve him of his crimes. But I don't think Hori will go that way and so far in this final arc I would say this has been the most well-laid out and engaging conflict between hero and villain.

@G1Ravage said in Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !:
I rather enjoyed Artur's deep dive into the Greek/Roman roots of the planet's names, as well as the Japanese interpretations of them. Perhaps it's more obvious what Imu represents than we once thought....
I think Imu's been pretty obvious since the start. It's literally Umi (sea) backwards and the ultimate enemy of devil fruit users is the sea. People have also theorized for a long time about an enemy that could potentially control water - would make sense for the final big bad.

RE: One Piece Live-Adaptation Drama Announced
Loguetown could be the season 2 opener. I could see it being split as:
1: Loguetown
2: Laboon and Whiskey Peak
3: Little Garden
4: Arriving at Drum Island and meeting Chopper
5: Chopper flashback and beating Wapol
6: Arriving at Alabasta up until leaving Yuba
7: Rainbase and start of Alubarna
8: Alubarna and beating CrocodileFeels like it would be better for Alabasta to have a fourth episode but it could still work.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
It's kind of clever because we know Bakugo's blood is nitroglycerin and in real life nitroglycerin is actually used in medicine to dialate blood vessels and help the heart pump blood around the body. And it's believable that Bakugo's sweat could've entered his blood vessels via any of the cuts and bruises he has on his body. So this recovery saves Edgeshot, allows Bakugo to be responsible for his own revival and is based in actual science.

RE: Egghead cuttaways
I'm not a fan in the moment but I want to wait until Egghead is done before I fully judge it. With the revelation that Blackbeard's pirate crew are coming to Egghead, Shanks is looking for Blackbeard, Morgans is monitoring the situation on Egghead somehow and that tomorrow will be a huge Earth-shaking event, I think in hindsight all these cutaways are going to be relevant for what is to come for the final act of Egghead.
Like, we now know that not all the BB pirates are coming to Egghead because they are being held up by Garp and Law, but BB himself may still arrive later. Shanks might also arrive now on Egghead and we know why. And the newspaper from Morgans may end up being what alerts all the Straw Hat Grand Fleet to show up and save Luffy. Or maybe Morgans himself will show up to get the big scoop on tomorrows event. At the same time, all this has helped set-up for possible future arcs, explaining how both Shanks and BB got the Road Poneglyphs, setting up Kid for Elbaf, possibly having Garp captured by BB.
It has been quite clunky in execution but I think all this stuff may tie-in together nicely by the end of Egghead and make more sense.

Well yeah. He said in the last chapter that this part was going to be his closing statement on what he thinks will happen in the future.

RE: Volume 109 Predictions/Discussion
@StrawHatJedi said in Volume 109 Predictions/Discussion:
In this case, I don't think so;
Mysterious bowler hat wearing guy has an office in Marijoa pre-time skip.
According to SBS, Spandam was made the 'chief of CP0' during the time skip but has since lost that position.
Guernica is shown to be a CP0 agent post-Time Skip but was never stated to be the chief.
But if we say he was the guy to whom Doflamingo was talking pre-time skip, this would suggest he lost his position to Spandam, but then got it back, which just seems unnecessarily convoluted.
I also just don't know that it fits the few things we know about Guernica. For one, he implied to Drake that he lacks free will. While nothing is confirmed, it does seem unlikely that someone whose service is compulsory would be elevated to a position of such high authority in Marijoa.
Guernica is also the one who intentionally distributed pictures of Nika Luffy to the entire world somehow following Kaido's thunder bagua, which suggests he harbored at least some type of rebellious or traitorous sentiment. Again, not really fitting for the character we see speaking to Doflamingo in ch 595.
I should also add that the anime gave the guy a face and it isn't Guernica's, though its canonicity is questionable.
I think there's a big misunderstanding of several situations from your post, so I'll go through them one by one.
-
Shouldn't him having an office in Marijoa make it more likely? After all, not just any shmuck can have a meeting room in the land of the gods. But the head of the secret service for this gods? Yeah that makes sense.
-
Spandam wasn't chief during this moment with Doflamingo, he was recovering from all the injuries he received at Enies Lobby. But also you're just assuming Guernica here is chief or that he ever was the Chief. Lucci is described as the chief in the Post-TS, not Guernica.
-
your comment about Drake, I think you don't realise it reinforces the idea this could be Guernica. If the man lacks free will and is loyal to the WG then that means he would be MORE likely to be elevated to a position of high authority because he's someone they can trust and use. He makes more sense in charge (assuming he is, or ever was) because he lacks free will. Him lacking free will would also explain why he would roll over and let Spandam take over, if he was convinced it was for the greater will of the government.
-
Guernica didn't distribute these photos. He took the photo right before he died and Joseph was the one who distributed them. And he didn't distribute them with malicious intent. It's heavily implied that midway through sending over the photo to the Marines, the Big Mom pirates attacked Joseph's ship and he never got to pass on the Elder's instructions. Morgan's, who was wiretapping the call, then got the marine's to send him the photo to use for a new Wanted poster
-
this is an anime thing obviously so it can be considered not canon, but if you want to believe it is - Guernica wears a mask in the post-TS. We don't know what his face looks like.

RE: Volume 109 Predictions/Discussion
Yeah, wouldn't the obvious answer here be that the two bowler hat wearing government agents are the same bowler hat wearing government agents?
I am curious what Spandine's actual rank was. Maybe he was in CP0? He was the head of CP9 originally and that's how he manipulated things so Spandam could take over, so that would make sense. He obviously lost his position thanks to Lucci's meddling, and Spandam only stuck around thanks to Lucci's sadism.

Usukobe feels so different now. Ever since they both joined Green I was sort of expecting this development but between the design changes and attitude change, she feels like a different character.

RE: Season 2 (and Beyond?) Speculation Thread (Spoilers)
I think Mr. 3 is too important to die. They'd have to write around his absense if they ever do get as far as Impel Down. And the way he survived made sense, unlike Pell. Pell is definitely dead, and maybe Igaram.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
For me, My Hero Academia managed to pick itself up in that final arc. There was a definitely a drop in quality after the Bakugo Retrieval Arc but it only really got 'bad' in the villain arc which felt both rushed and too long for its own good, with new villains just introduced to be an opposing force and half the villain cast (Spinner in particular) not actually getting much of anything from it.
But this final arc, everything from Deku Dark to the end, managed to avoid a lot of the tropes and plot problems that plagued Naruto's final third and I think each of the core classroom characters (Deku, Bakugo, Ochako, Todoroki and Iida) and All Might got great moments that paid off their story arcs. It still had issues (pacing was a bit odd and Stain was horribly utilised given the build-up) but Horikoshi at least made sure to call back to everything that had happened and have it play some role. And that takes talent to pull off in a series this long.

RE: Volume 109 Predictions/Discussion
So the volume is ending on Starfall as expected. Just given the pacing over everything, I suspect Volume 110 will be the final full one for Egghead (with the actual finale being in 111). I'm gonna predict its the five elders in their beast forms with the Vegapunk TV in the background and G5 Luffy up front facing them (maybe with Dory and Broggy next to him).

RE: Volume 109 Predictions/Discussion
I still prefer my original idea but I am glad the cover got to be Kuma focused. He deserves it. I could've done without Gear 5 Luffy though. I know why he's there but it feels a tad out of place.
