RE: Season 1 General Discussion
@Razh I know it's also reflective of how major One Piece battles have changed these days, but good lord I can't take anymore HUGE auras, lightning strikes, dbz sfx library
I'll give it up for the anime having moments that look good but the pacing still sucks that I don't think I'd regularly watch it ever again lol

RE: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Okay wow, I JUST saw that I was the one that started this thread waaay back when. I can't tell you the last time I did that.
Anyways I did get autobuild, and have just been strolling around doing whatever tickles my fancy. Got 11? whole hearts and 1.5 stamina wheels, i think 60 shrines completed in total. It's really hard to put the game down lol, every day I'm doing something.
Just completed the Mattison side quest.....sublime.

RE: The evolving grand plot theory
@Deicide Ahhhh, this is ringing bells now. I do think it was clever to basicially "disguise" the power level-y concept as something much more vague/having a regular word. I don't know how far he had planned it at that point, or rather, when did he get the idea for black limbs exactly.
But you know, be it Zoro cutting down Mr. 1 or Luffy figuring out Mr. 3's clones....it's one of those instances that could kinda be retrofitted for it, or even more explicitly retroactive, Skypiea and Mantra.
One of those things that you just lose when translating, unfortunately.

@access-timeco said in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part II: Do the Dio Walk!:
Joseph already appeared at the end of Jojolion and Araki recently said the next JoJo will be his descendant - so not him, sadly.
I'm kinda confused by this (not a manga reader and only know up to stone ocean). Like, THE Joseph or whatever the new universe Joseph's equivalent is?
I would like a second female jojo (specially since a non-Irene Jolyne would throw chaos into the fanbase), but really my biggest concern is that the JoJo goes by a nickname that can differentiate them like Johnny, so we don’t have another Josuke/Josuke scenario.
also this. Josuke (4!!!) is my favorite JoJo and it's a bummer being stuck in the shadow of the shinier, newer protag with the same name. Like Johnny vs Jonathan was at least a clever workaround.

RE: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
@Shiebs Haven't played S/V yet but I knew I was going to miss anything traditional after Arceus. It was my Pokemon fix after skipping Gen 8, and even if it wasn't perfect, it still had a lot of great ideas that I hope Gamefreak refines in the future.
I'm glad at least S/V takes open world cues but I wish instead Arceus just had more time in the oven to be "the" Pokemon game of this year.

RE: Oda's Interviews
@Hades Interesting, thanks for posting.
Oda: I shifted Chopper’s role to a mascot character after hearing his voice in the TV Anime, even when I had a policy of not drawing mascot characters, but Ootani Ikue’s voice was too cute haha.
you mean to tell me we might've had a not totally chibified chopper if he was voiced by someone else??

Re-reading the arc, I legit think Tsukishima is an awesome villain. I have a blast every time I see Ichigo losing his shit at his family going "you're the crazy one!" because of Shuu-chan. It's an actual personal conflict Aizen couldn't hope to have.
The rest are definitely lame however. Giriko (clock guy) has a cool power though, but like many things in Bleach, it's wasted potential.
I remember appreciating the horror "Ichigo's family and friends are brainwashed" element, it was at least an interesting angle?
Giriko lmao, I thought by the sound of his powers he'd trap Kenpachi like Tousen did. The problem with the fights is really i think they can't all just one-shot their opponents, so some don't, but then the rest kinda just....drag.
If you took them away and had Ichigo/Chad/Orihime/Uryu team up to beat them, I think it would've ended the arc on a high note for me.

RE: Spy X Family
Good timing, I'm going to check out Code: White this weekend.
As for the manga itself, I recently caught up to the end of volume 11? It seems volume 13 was just released in Japan a month ago and volume 12 in English is coming out in August, so at least I'm not too behind now.

@FolhaS no joke, when I was a kid I was more familar with the games than the show, so when I DID watch the episodes with Raditz I was very confused why there was no Double Sundays...

RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)
I've always found it odd that the earlier movies haven't been dubbed considering how huge One Piece is in now. And to get movie 8 dubbed first, THEN movie 9 skipped, but THEN Strong World dubbed.....??
I know the earlier ones are on the shorter side but maybe we'll get a compilation one day or something.

RE: Interviews with Cast and Crew Discussion
I don't think the Robin = Russian thing is set in stone, considering Luffy's VA is not Brazilian and Sanji's VA is not French - but YES X 1000 to keeping Robin's cowboy hat whenever possible.

RE: Chapter 1110: Starfall
I am very worried about Dorry and Broggy, they should escort Luffy and the others to Elbaf but there's now 5 Elders to deal with. Giant Robot to the rescue (or stalling)?
@Captain-M said in Chapter 1110: Starfall:
I'm ambivalent about the Zoro and Lucci fight as a whole. The outcome was never in doubt, and it was too offscreen to provide any real character interaction or clash of ideology to add substance. Zoro snapping and finding the motivation to take the win right away when Sanji talks him down is a decent bit for the two of them, but it's not quite enough to make the whole fight feel like more than padding.
Prettttty much, just enough to get Zoro away while Sanji+Luffy tangle with Kizaru and Saturn, and now that the Elders are here I'm guessing Zoro will block one of their attacks when he rejoins the fight.
Well they call him Lucci not Wucci.

RE: Dragonball Discussion Kai: Broly but this time it's not Broly
Never did I think I'd hear such news....
I don't remember when exactly Dragon Ball entered my life but I remember very distinctly watching it (the og, not Z!) on TV and really enjoying Goku's adventures, then I watched Z's old dub many many times on Toonami, then I soon read the manga proper....I've drifted in and out my Dragon Ball "phases" across the years, sometimes I was kinda indifferent to it, sometimes I was hyperfixated....it was always there, the root for all of my tastes and stuff. And I saw Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and Super Super Hero in theaters - they felt like special events even after I was past my prime DB years.
But it also had all the video games that captivated me as a kid - still got Budokai 3 (best DBZ game on ps2 don't @ me).
One thing I can say is I adore the hell out of Toriyama's art - it's distinctly his and it's incredible to see it reflected on popular IPs of our time - Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, etc. And even now, Goku still stands as "the anime guy" for a lot of people, including myself. Maybe I'll get around to checking out some of his other stuff like Dr. Slump or Cowa, feel bad I never checked out his whole work.
Rest in peace Toriyama-san.
