These snails are fully animatronic! I definitely trust this team to do Chopper justice. Here's hoping season 1 is a success and we can get a season 2!
Kizaru still represents the good side of the marines, he will not remain an antagonist for long. it doesn't fit his character to be evil or blindly obedient
Where do you get that from? In my view, he's been the guy with no view of justice of his own. He just does whatever the WG tells him to and considers that good enough.
I feel almost privileged to be a dub-and sub-lover. Mayumi Tanaka is a perfect Luffy in my opinion, but I can enjoy Colleen's interpretation and other ones as well. (It doesn't hurt that there are some voices I think are slightly better in the dub) I'm pretty excited to really get a chance to see Inaki's interpretation in full.
For what it's worth, almost everyone in Reddit's OP community is decimating the trailer right now. They are not happy with it.
...admittedly those guys suck but it's fascinating to see such a huge volume dismissal.
That is not the impression I get from going on r/onepiece. All positive posts are upvoted and you have to sort by controversial to get the negative ones. They are there, but they aren't getting upvoted to the same degree and many have negative karma. The top 8 posts are positive about the live action and there isn't a negative one until the 9th.
@ea77 In my mind this scene is solidifying Sanji's inability to hit women as a good trait because it comes from a good source and opening up the way for him to ask for his help (an even better trait) in WCI, which Captain M talked about. I know Sanji has a lot of haters, but I truly do feel that he is the character Oda is best at developing.
reduces the tragedy of the flashback
This is fine. It reduces the tragedy of the flashback in the present, after Robin has already been through it for the last 20 years and has recovered through finding friends. This is an awesome example of catharsis that I don't think diminishes what Robin went through and how it affected her.
It's not about it making sense or being expected, I think it's effective and deserved after Robin embraced the demon inside for her friends at Wano.
I don't even know what the point of this post is and the circles I'm going but if this fails even if people genuinely can see the good in it, it is because the series has become way too big and the internet culture today of being cynical and bandwagoning, without even caring to form your own thoughts, will be insufferable to experience if and when it does come.
This, I 100% agree with. It's so obvious too because a lot of the critiques use the exact same words and wording. It is what it is. Everyone's critique is valid to them, but I do think negativity is IN right now and a lot of people just struggle to enjoy things or give them a chance, which I don't think is healthy. On the other hand, there are a lot of projects that have been mishandled.
This though? Whether it's A+ material or not, I think it's being handled with love and respect for the source material.
Not that Luffy will die of course but I don't know. We got past Gear 2nd putting too much strain on Luffy, the 10 years lost from Ivankov seem all but forgotten but now this fruit turns Luffy into grandpa after some use. Is it just energy being burned up so fast and he needs food? Maybe but I'm expecting something tragic to be associated with this laughing and awakening.
This isn't new, but I think that it may be related to the pills that Hody Jones and co took as well as the Mink's transformation. I'm hopeful that if it is, then Oda can pull it all together in a satisfying way and maybe Chopper's studies of the Mink's transformation (assuming) and rumble balls might offer a solution for Luffy.
LETTSSSS GOOOOOO!!!!! Compass left behind, it'll only slow us doooowwwwnn!!!!
My first thought was Jim Rash, but I do think the actor should look somewhat physically threatening enough that when he does combat it doesn't feel too ridiculous and I don't think he can pull that off.
Everythng else around them is... oof.
I kind of disagree. Kamabakka Island is pretty offensive, but New Kama land isn't at all. It just features a bunch of prisoners in fishnets and bunny ears/drag. Sticking closer to that and doing away with the giant jaws and stubbly legs would be enough imo. The worst element of Kamabakka Island isn't even their depiction physically, it's the sexual assault vibes of it. I think they can easily just make that disappear if they choose to.
@blue-san It definitely has a risk of alienating a part of the audience no matter what, but it is what it is. Some people just hate queer people. I'd rather it be for that reason (as much as it sucks) than it ending up being disrespectful on some level.
