I remembered something. 18 years ago on this forum, no one had any idea that there'll be a live action. Tell someone back in 2005-2010 AP about the live action, they will be like "Hell no!"

But then the live action came out and it was a massive success. Quite funny isn't it?

@joekido-the-Second Because they know Sabo saw IM on the Empty Throne.

So they decided to destroy the entire island just to kill one person who is not even confirmed to be on that island and the Elder Stars has the attitude of "Meh whatever" instead of going crazy. They could've just cut off the transmission instead.

However they decided to destroy the island just to say it never exist to begin with just to kill one person? They should use the Buster Call for that. I think there is more to this then what we thought.

    • Creating a story that is similar to One Piece.

Ever since I was in my late teens and early 20's I have always wanted to create a world building story. I remembered playing Final Fantasy 9 and always tried to imagine what would it be like if I extended it much longer then it already was.

However I had a hard time trying to take pieces and twist it to my own ideas. Then in 2004 One Piece caught my full attention since 1999 and for long was always inspired by this series. For years However I tried to create a franchise that would be similar to One Piece but I kept having problems coming up with my own ideas and not take a big chuck of One Piece as if I'm about to plagiarize it instead of using some ideas from that series and twist it to my own ideas while it may sound similar but I don't wish to carbon copy One Piece.

Oda loves Dragon Ball to death, Dragon Ball however was literally found all over One Piece but Oda manage to twist these ideas up. Star Wars however was stories that has already been told to death many times yet it was popular.

Now I'm 41 and still struggling to creating such ideas. Then I decided this: A story of a young boy found a device that transported him to a world that looks just like One Piece but has more landmass with a cluster of valleys where Red Line would be. The world is called Via, an heavily diverse world of different race, architectures, geography and culture. It is a world located in the Grand Universe inside one single galaxy called Grenda.

The boy learns that he is a Grand Guardian, group of freedom loving people to arrived to explore and fulfill destiny of their own. The Grand Guardians however are not all good guys, these people are humans with free will who can do whatever they wish. There is no limits, no getting fired from it, it's all about freedom and how you chose your path in your own desires.

Grand Guardians are known to have avaters they can summon or transform into, similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2. However there are Guardians who are Incarnation of certain people from Via or any other planets in the Grenda galaxy.

This young boy however is from Vearth, a planet outside of the Grand Universe. Vearth is similar to our earth but all countries are fictional with different but similar history and no people that existed on Earth are not found on Vearth. However like the Blues outside the Grand Line that is supposed to be a normal place, Vearth is like that.

The Grand Universe is suppose to be a purely a fictional universe that is not supposed to exist but somehow came alive. The Grand Universe was created by the imagination, inspiration, dreams and desires of people on Vearth.

A young boy by the name of Yincoln E. Redwood finds out he is an Incarnation of a notorious owtlaw who can be seen as a pirate or a bandit or a marauder or other groups like that. His name is Vantius E. Bluewell.

He ends up loving Via and made friends, however like with Luffy he strove to be a notorious outlaw who will surpass pirates, bandits, marauders and terrorists (They called themselves rebels).

Like with Luffy he thought being a notorious outlaw was all about fun, just showing how simple minded he is. Like how Luffy wants to be a pirate king, Yincoln wants to be an outlaw king but unlike Luffy he does not say "I want to be Outlaw King!" Over and over again and does not care if someone else says the same thing but he is motivated to go out in the world.

He learns that Vantius' lost 13 crews is wandering the Vearth being Incarnated in 13 different and goes back to reunite with them which takes a long time to do so but he can't fulfill his goals alone nor does he wants to be alone.

Yincoln was a lonely boy much like Luffy, growing up with parents mysteriously gone, going to one relatives to another. But being a Incarnation of an Outlaw King sets him forward to explore Via.

The story premise is very similar to One Piece. Since long ago in the early 90's treasure hunting stories was my least favorite but while the story may look like a treasure hunt thing but it would eventually come to a point that it is deeper then finding a treasure at end of the line. In fact instead of looking for an lost island, they are looking for a larger landmass called the Grand Valley that disappeared long ago and the Republic attempting to keep it hidden forever.

The story however is known to explore regions or islands while the characters would make a stop to Vearth before coming back. Like how Oda like to pick inspiration, this is exactly what I would do, designing characters that is similar to characters from real life or media. Vearth represents realities we are in while the Grand Universe is a place where you'll like to go to take a break from reality.

This story is heavily inspired by One Piece and other stories such as Dragon Ball, Lord's of the Rings, Star Wars, Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles, Adventure Time, Final Fantasy 9, Boxcar Children, Digimon, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and many others with varies of genres but is to target age 10 to 25 years olds.
I strove to finally tell the story already.

    • RE: Thoughts on a U.S. directed live action One Piece Movie

Sorry to bump this up, I was looking through my post history to find one of my posts and find this ancient thread and due to what we are getting today with the live action series, this certainly was happening, except it is not a rumored movie. This thread is pretty outdated with people bickering about it back in 2009, thinking it won't work.

But now we see what is being done with the live action version, translating the manga to live action, making changes, making some things realistic, improving and fixing it, phasing out scenes and characters, making it actually good while keeping the spirit of the manga alive.. Now this thread can be fun to read what people in 2009 with a 2023 perspective.

I hope the first season is a success so we can get more seasons and see what changes will occur.

    • RE: Creating a story that is similar to One Piece.

I forgot to point out that while I had this idea since my early 20's and how it kept changing to much, on September 13th 2021 I just had a heart surgery and no motivation. However as I get old and how unpredictable death is I have came to the point that it is time to fulfill my dreams that was supposed to start in the late 90's.

At this point I'm in the progress of writing a story testaments. Here are some samples:
4,000 years ago, two major orders called the Amaki Dragons and the Fable Round appeared. The Amaki Dragons were a militaristic order that believes in chaos and control of the world. The Amaki Dragons came from the D tribe. The Fable Round order while militaristic believes in helping people in need, they believe in freedom and peace. They came from the E tribe. They would butt heads for centuries.

      • 1900 years ago invaders from space attacked Va. They heavily occupied the eastern hemisphere but lightly with the west. They built scientific bunkers and do strange experiments on people that result them manipulating their dark cognition and brought their persona to consume their bodies, turning them into monsters. They even created a mutagens that gives a person abilities to augmente their bodies, giving them superpowers. The invaders allowed the Va government to function on their own and allowed the population to go on with their daily lives but the world is split up into provinces ruled by governors that every governments or kingdoms within every province are to answer to.

      • 100 years ago Ventius and his crews disappeared. They discovered they are too soon to do anything what they found in the phantom continent that they used the Fable Round mechanic to regenerate themselves to be reborn in different peoples bodies on Vearth. They however were forerunners of the outlaw age that will be stirred up 75 years later.

      • 40 years before the story, an empire called the Goring rose up and amass alliance of pirates, rotten Guardians, beast raiders, marauders, sky pirates, phantom thieves, and bandits at the eastern hemisphere to challenge  the Republic. The empire appointed 7 generals to expend there influence but William E. Oldwood of the powerful Wood families took down many of them. He got support from Ganz E. Redwood of the Navy and Tang E. Goldwood of the legionary. A powerful outlaw called Arsene E. Whitewood made a pact with the the Goring empire and became influential to the empire that William, Ganz and Tang took him down, severely shattering the empire and the Republic army taking down the alliance. The emperor of Goring died of an heart attack and his son took over and shrank down the empire to stay at the south east sea and made peace with the empire.

      • 7 generals of the old empire would not accept the new administration that they cause an series of power vacuum, gathering loyalists of the old empire and outlaws. Seven generals bended togather to take down the new empire.

      • 25 years ago William and his crews decided to travel around the world, making new alliances with other outlaws along the way and discovered the phantom continent and found the mark of the Fable Round and cracked it's mystery. He alone went up to the old Numberian space colony and faced the unknown. He came back all wounded saying he was too ill to win. He gave himself up to Tang and the Republic decided to burn him while hanging on a cross with niles. He however preached past 15 years about the concept of Fable Round, the treasure they created, the truth of world, the lost continent and the space colony. He even stated that Republic is not the real threat but something bigger is coming to put both worlds; Va and Vearth in danger. This scared the Republic that they burned him on the cross as a stern warning to the world to not find the truth.

However it's still rough drafted and will take some times not to make it a One Piece carbon copy. I remembered back in 2015 I tried to start writing a story but could not continue but I still have notebook with that draft.

I have already created some main characters. The woman in my profile pic is one of these characters.

    • A sample story of Fable Round

20 years ago, an western sea empire of Toring Empire has collapsed with it's 7 powerful generals found themselves under the wings of the terrorists group known as the Alagesia who begun it's quest in overthrowing the Republic.

12 years ago an instructor of the Full Circle Academy Onpa along with her students escaped the massacre with the shroom. The mastermind of the massacre Sarkin, one of the seven generals gave chase to the brightwoods where Onpa and her students reaches the gate that leads to Cearth threw the shroom into the portal.

A young boy living on the island known as New Sun, just 70 miles east from the imperial city of Jorvik. He found the shroom and showed it to his imperial Admiral grandfather. He told him he shouldn't eat it but the boy named Yincoln E. Redwood ate it much to the grandfather's chargin. So he warned him not to display his powers. But later Yincoln saw a man getting beaten up by group of thugs. Feeling the sense of wanting to help, he transformed into an behemoth/humanoid and used his shockwave to push back the thugs. This frieghts them away but Yincoln collapsed. Suddenly chatters of what happen shook the island and Jorvik was notified of the incident and sent the imperial agents to investigate.

Knowing Yincoln will be killed, his grandfather tucked him in the barrel and threw him through the portal of Va, landing on the ocean. Due to sea stress the barrel broke and Yincoln drifted to an isle where he was found by a man named Gaius and his son Pierre.

Yincoln has no memory at what has happened or how he ended up on Va but rather then want to go back home, he decided to stay on Va, feeling that he is meant to be there and that he has strong connection to it. One day Yincoln found a guardian bracelet, he tried it on and it claps around his wrist, shocking him.

      Then 2 years passed.

Gaius is a trader who travels around the isle with his shop at Eirewood, Yincoln would hear tales of adventures from travellers and pirates. At Eirewood he noticed many pirate ships docked, with a strong sense of adventure he snucked into one of these ships, hoping he would go on a seafaring adventure.

However only 40 miles west of Eirewood he was discovered and brought to a captian named Yorke Rogers the blue hat along with his daughter Amy Wintoniensis. At first Yorke wants to just dump Yincoln on some random island but Yincoln transformed to defend himself. Before anything would happen, Onpa herself happened to be on the ship seeing Yincoln with the power of the shroom she sent to Cearth two years back. Then the ship got attack by enemy pirates, kidnapping Amy. Yorke and his crew followed them to Lantern Island where a battle took place. Yincoln attempted to join the fight but is not strong and got his face slashed by a pirate captain. Onpa killed the pirate captain, winning the battle and saving Amy. Yincoln then got his wound got sown by Onpa. Eventually the Yorke pirates headed back to Eirewood where Yincoln reunited with Gaius and Pierre.

Onpa and Yorke were best friends and has chose to sail with him to take a break from her instructor duties. Onpa begun to tell Yincoln of her adventures as an instructor and a part time Pirate. She also handed him a book called "Adventures of the Rubber Boy". He and Pierre even developed relationship with Amy and Yorke. Onpa also taught him about the guardian bracelet. Guardians are archetypically people who is assigned to defend both Cearth and Va but in truth they are essentially adventurers from Cearth who has the bracelet as a proof of who they are with special duties. However they has free wills meaning they can come out as criminals. While they have "special duties", there is no rules at being guardians and can do whatever they want. The value freedom. However by Va standards, they are branded outlaws.

This inspired Yincoln to become an outlaw because just being a pirate is not enough. but he knew he has to wait until he is of age before he can officially begin his journey.

He dreamed to be an outlaw king to write a book about it, being inspired by the book about a rubber boy. In the era like this, being an outlaw means being free and following your dreams while helping those in need.

He sought to find people who would journey with him and sail/fly/travel around the world to find the lost continent to seek out a treasure called the mark of Fable Round.

The Alagesia sought the power Yincoln has and tried to recruit him but Yincoln refused.

Along the journey, Yincoln and his crews deal with rouge guardians and a world torn apart by 2 major fraction groups and a threat from Cearth.

@Gizmo said in Season 2 (and Beyond?) Speculation Thread (Spoilers):

No sure if they’ll skip Whiskey Peak or Laboon’s story. Depends on how the show runners feel about the fight given it’s become more controversial as of late, but I think Luffy vs Zoro is iconic, so dunno if they’ll skip over that aspect. Heroes fighting each other is a staple in this type of work that I dunno if it’s be skipped. Same with Zoro fighting 100 bounty members, it’s a lot of fun. If they do it right, can see it be shortened to one episode with Laboon like they did with the Romance Dawn episode.

If there were skips, I was thinking more Little Garden being skipped or skimmed a lot given it’s less popular and iconic than the other parts of Alabasta.

I hope Chopper’s story would get the proper runtime it deserves, but given it’s not cohesive to the Baroque Works story I could see it just being reimagined/shortened, it’s just such a good story.

Alabasta can be shortened/reimagined but depends on how it’s done. They can cut a lot of the desert trekking and the fights can be shortened, but I would hope Yuba is kept.

Dunno how Smoker will fit in. Honestly I feel like Smoker’s story would just be a retread of Koby/Garp’s storyline in season 1 so dunno if that’ll be reimagined/redone. Part of the reason why their story bugged me.

      How controversial are the fights?

My investment in this show has developed from 'Not interested at all' to 'OH MY GOD, I'M SO HYPED' within the last six weeks.

Nice. Couldn't help but to say back in 2005, an idea of a One Piece Live Action would garner a lot of negative backlash. Essentially the idea would be horrible or not work and if you suggested it they will look down on you.

Already I was eager for the Live Action for two years and was excited to see how people would say about it and One Piece Fandom covering it up. It would be so much fun.

Now today is Wednesday so I look forward to midnight later.
