A few from the WTF Feed at https://whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/2017/06/02/Day-134/
The White House ordered federal agencies to ignore Democrats’ oversight requests.
The Russia probe now includes a grand jury investigation into Michael Flynn.
The Trump team wanted to lift sanctions on Russia when he took office.
At least one Republican senator thinks a health care deal is unlikely this year.
Oh hey, I love this page. Lemme check it out…oh hey! Hurricane season started yesterday with nobody in charge at FEMA or NOAA.
Fucking Trump, really? I'm sure this is because of his science denial crap and not so much because no one with a brain what's to work with him. That's obnoxious and dangerous.
Edit: Also, Ubiq! That tweet warms my heart. I'm glad to see it.
-
Why thank you Mr Trudeau. That's actually nice and considerate.
-
Why is he making any difference? Half of the people didn't mind about having Trump, and 1 person out of 4 have endorsed him. Only 25% was against the douche.

Where are you getting these statistics from?

Where are you getting these statistics from?
That's not the exact numbers, but roughly what we get. 44,7% didn't vote –>> didn't mind about having Trump as president (although, it's true that some african-americans just cannot vote because the Reps are taking their vote in their states somehow). And Trump had 45,94% of the votes, so pretty much 1person out of 4 endorsed him (roughly something like that).
-
The fact that people didn't vote either way doesn't necessarily mean that they agree with or are neutral on Trump's positions, it just means that they were idiots.
-
It won't be long before states start fighting for secession.
-
I think that's less about Trump's administration not representing the country and more about states choosing to meet the Agreement's standards on their own. Basically a small states' rights dig.
Though of course the two concepts aren't unrelated.
-
This is both the best thing about Trump's terribleness, AND the worst.
Best because unlike the Bush era there seems to be an implicit understanding that this isn't so much the US, as a truly nutty bizarre modern day Caligula tragic accident of a leader.
And worst because jesus christ, we have an unstable early dementia senile asshole in the driver's seat almost by fluke. Like a kid's movie where a chimpanzee becomes an NBA star, except actually acting like a real life chimpanzee.
Man I mentioned Trump as Porky Minch, but the horrible truth is he isn't Porky. Bannon and the alt-right are Porky.
Trump is fucking Giygas. An almighty idiot with little to no self-awareness or thought-process blindly rampaging around like some sort of cross between a mindless animal, an infant, and a demi-god. When not being confined against his will.

I didn't expect Earthbound to get into this politics thread, but I welcome it. I just hope we don't need to reference Lisa: The Painful later on.

Even a lot of those people are defined by being total naive morons who somehow didn't see his corruption laced totally principal lacking incompetence coming from a mile away.

Pretty much everyone, business leaders, the whole world, a bunch of his advisers, his own goddamn daughter, told him not to do the Paris pull out.
And he did anyway.
It's like someone trying to tell a chicken not to do something. It's a mindless black eyed empty void of an animal pecking at worms, except that chicken has the mantle of Zeus. That's Giygas. That's Trump.

Scott Pruitt admits he doesn't know what being a “climate denier” means. Before proceeding to demonstrate he is one by accident.

Scott Pruitt admits he doesn't know what being a “climate denier” means. Before proceeding to demonstrate he is one by accident.
How do people like him get into office? What are the requirements needed?
-
There is an ornery cud chewing yak swatting a fly with its tail grazing in the highest position of power in history.
And the reason it is there is a mild largely faux scandal involving some e-mails -
The fact that people didn't vote either way doesn't necessarily mean that they agree with or are neutral on Trump's positions, it just means that they were idiots.
It could also mean that restrictive voter ID laws discouraged JUST ENOUGH voters to let the GOP win. Or that people weren't super enthused about the election, or believe that America was already great for them.
The people who didn't vote just to be edgy are dumb and I hate them too, but calling people idiots for not voting unfortunately doesn't make them more likely to vote for you much of the time.
-
if you follow foreign policy experts and good journalists you will find out that a lot of American allies AREN'T distinguishing Trump anymore. Merkel's break wasn't just because of Trump but because it is a complete shot in the dark to lean on an ally as unreliable as the American electorate. Bush fucked things up, then the Tea Party prevented Obama from doing anything substantial and now Trump is there. What's the point of slaving away on treaties and agreements when it's just going to be torn up by the GOP, who still win almost every election, despite the insistence that they're a dying party.
tbh this idea that Trump is an accident or an anomaly is disturbing, because it shifts blame away from the the people who elected him.
-
@Mr.:

Both sort of people mentioned for your hyperlink are idiots so I'm not sure in what way this differs from what Ubiq said.
I'm also not sure what your comment about calling them idiots not making them vote has to do with calling them idiots here, not in their faces.

This sort of foreign policy isn't typical GOP. It isn't typical anything American.
Even Bush's disasters were argued out and carried out in the context of the western alliance system, even if contentious as hell it doesn't remotely compare to this sort of stuff.
Also the idea that the Tea Party prevented Obama from doing anything is not only very wrong domestically, but damn near irrelevant regarding international actions so what does that even have to do with Merkel thinking about things.tbh this idea that Trump is an accident or an anomaly is disturbing, because it shifts blame away from the the people who elected him.
Yeah, truly the idea that millions of people are lazy low information tribal news brainwashed suckers that can vote for a terrible anomaly or accident is a comforting blame shifting narrative, somehow.
-
This whole "PITTSBURGH NOT PARIS" nonsense coming out? Trump being pissy about Macron's handshake.
@Mr.:
It could also mean that restrictive voter ID laws discouraged JUST ENOUGH voters to let the GOP win.
Weren't Allowed to vote is a completely different category than Didn't.
You actually had pretty awful judgement to come to the first conclusion and naive as hell to think that the latter would continue to be the case if Trump got in; either way, I don't buy the notion that somebody who would subscribe to either is going to be swayed by liberals being polite and pretending that their political philosophy isn't inherently self-destructive.
-
I don't get the accident thing. Did people vote for him by accident? or did he pop out of nowhere and the somehow is an accident?
As for people who didn't vote at all. They're no better than Trump supporters. I believe Hannah Arendt said something on fascism (or totalitarianism) like "this shit comes when part of the population are passive pieces of shit".

lmfao,
!
!btw, the macaron joke is so lame, I've literally never heard any french making that joke. I've read "Macron-economy" (macroeconomy) in a satirical paper, but it was intended to sound lame (in order to be lamely funny) though.
-
Anyway, on another topic, the Senate GOP takes a step back to look at DontCare and thinks "How can we make people hate this more?"
Their solution: Let's tax employer-based healthcare. https://www.wsj.com/articles/gop-senators-weigh-taxing-employer-health-plans-1496350662
-
They're figuring out they need to get money from somewhere.
-
There's also the fact that everyone reported that Hillary had 100% chance of winning, so that affected people's need/desire to get out. They didn't need to vote, she had it locked in, there was no way Trump could do it. COmbine that with the number of people that didn't like her and just weren't enthused…
And also Comey being a putz.
Perfect storm.
Still insane just how many people DID vote for Trump though.

I don't think this was mentioned. One more state joined the "climate alliance," Massachusetts. So with Washington, California, and New York that makes at least 4 states so far. I can only hope a red state joins in to mix things up, but that seems unlikely as far as I know,
-
While Mike Pence states on television that he believes climate change to be a Liberal agenda. Many Republicans atleast acknowledge it's real.
-
Michael Bloomberg has pledged to help pay for what the US should be paying for the accords.
-
http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/01/us/trump-climate-deal-cities-states-defying/
StatesGovernors who have proclaimed their continued support for the accord include:
– Charlie Baker, Massachusetts
-- Jerry Brown, California
-- Kate Brown, Oregon
-- Andrew Cuomo, New York
-- John Hickenlooper, Colorado
-- David Y. Ige, Hawaii
-- Jay Inslee, Washington
-- Dannel P. Malloy, Connecticut
-- Terry McAuliffe, Virginia
-- Gina M. Raimondo, Rhode Island -
Virginia's the name that sticks out to me there, though I could easily see places like New Mexico and Minnesota joining too.
-
Thank God Cuomo is capable of doing the right thing when he knows he'll be murdered if he doesn't.
-
@Cyan:
Thank God Cuomo is capable of doing the right thing when he knows he'll be murdered if he doesn't.
That's basically any New York politician right there
-
@Cyan:
Thank God Cuomo is capable of doing the right thing when he knows he'll be murdered if he doesn't.
More like Cuomo is adding shit to his list of things he can say he did when he decides to run for President. This is an "easy" thing for him, so therefore he'll do it.
-
I don't get the accident thing. Did people vote for him by accident? or did he pop out of nowhere and the somehow is an accident?
A near senile incredibly stupid spoiled five year old in the shape of a seventy something old man is not supposed to get into power even as a village mayor. And one got into power in the highest office of the strongest country on earth.
The highly partisan anti-reality conservative media sphere that many Republican voters exist in has a large part to do with how something like this can happened. Like in a sense this is what the logical conclusion of it was. But even now as his dementia fart administration keeps pooping itself on live TV, Fox News and worse are screaming LALALALA WHAT POOP, THINGS ARE GREAT, and if you stopped the average Trump voter on the street to check on how aware of half of these things they are, they would first not be, and then would completely reject any attempt at being told about them as fake news liberal lies.
You and Kaiolino have clearly never played Earthbound all the way through if you think for two seconds the couple posts I made before this were some sort of comforting lie I was telling myself, and not some sort of dawning sense of horror I've been experiencing.
Comforting was the idea that Trump was just dumb and incompetent and incapable of pressing his terrible policies for the most part, being an empty void head with a decaying brain who fucks the planet in the asshole even with his daughter telling him not to because of some mental spark of spite….that's fucking scary. That's "IMA LAUNCH A NUKE ANYWAY" scary.--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I didn't expect Earthbound to get into this politics thread, but I welcome it. I just hope we don't need to reference Lisa: The Painful later on.

What is Earthbound??
-
What is Earthbound??
A classic rpg of the Super Nintendo era, second of trilogy also known as the Mother series. First was NES (Mother/Earthbound Beginnings), then SNES (Mother 2/Earthbound) and Game Boy Advance (Mother 3). Its protagonists, Ness and Lucas, are playable on Smash Bros and it was a major inspiration for the game Undertale.
-
But what's the connection with Trump's supporters ?

It's a metaphor, damnit!

But what's the connection with Trump's supporters ?
They need to be taken out by the psycho hippies that made up some of the game's enemies?

It's a metaphor, damnit!
Or possibly that
-
But what's the connection with Trump's supporters ?
Two layers of spoilers
! In the case of Earthbound, the game exist in a modern "eagleland" (generic north american) setting, where many of the enemies and challenges are lifted from some news events and characters, mainly notable the cult that takes over one of the towns, being related to japanesse recent events, and using somewhat like KKK robes.
!
! Directly trump:
!
! The game has two main antagonist, first your next door neighboor, Pokey a fat rich kid who envies you and wants to make your life misserable, and alies with aliens and weird technology to enslave the world and destroy you. Most notable is the alien Gygas (spelling being a main point of discussion over the ages), who was the antagonist on the first game (on the NES, Mother, localized as "Earthbound Beginings", because it was only released in the west recently). Gygas is a psychic being of enormous power, but while trying to reach even more power it breaks it's mind and when you finally meet him, he's just an "all powerful idiot", who lashes out and will destroy everything.
! The point zephos (ehm, Monkey King) is trying to make is that we were convinced that Trump was Pokey, but this whole impase shows that he's Gygas, because he's terryfingly unreasonable, and uncontrolable. -
American uses Japanese game to make metaphor, confuses Frenchman, Brazilian tries to explain. Venezuelan gives more detailed explanation.
Thank you South America.

Western Hemisphere Video Game Metaphor Brotherhood in action, knew that treaty would come in handy some day.
-
This is why more people need to play games.
-
I'm always sad when people don't know Earthbound. This is a dorky example, but I've watch like two "let's plays" get canceled cause they didn't get enough hits. Oh, and in American news: Infrastructure!
This is something I've actually been looking forward to, and I hope it succeeds. Yet, why should I expect it to? Given, it seems to have bipartisan support and is generally popular with the voters, but why should Trump get this right? Either way, again, we have to wait until next week to find out. Oh, and some Russia stuff might happen next week. What is with this administration and it's week-long cliffhangers? I don't think Obama had this.

Roger Ailes should not only be burning in hell for being a sexual predator, but also for being more responsible than anyone for creating this hyper-partisan political cult that is modern Republicanism.
He shouldn't just be boiling in the lakes of fire, but should be taking his place in the deepest pit being chewed on by satan. -
Gun owners a protected class? wha…...
WTF! Here I thought that 18 (16 with parents consent) was the legal limit for marriage of ALL of USA. Damn it New Hampshire, you're a damn throwback of idiocy. With how (some not all - though I can't name any in that 'not all' category) Reps are yelling about so-called "evils of Muslims and their culture" I'd thought they jump at the wrongness of child marriage.
-
I don't know if I should link to Trump's twitter, but (needless to say) he's being a dickhead again. He spent much of the day spreading alarmist tweets about the London attacks then scolding the Muslim mayor of London for "political correctness."
I don't condone that photo Kathy Griffin did, but I can understand where it's coming from. This guy keeps proving why he's the worst. London's response to this attack was beautiful, and while I'm not familiar with Sadiq Khan he seemed nice enough in the news. But Trump took the time to push his racist agenda. It's just awful, and I hope people see through it.
-
@Monkey:

He shouldn't just be boiling in the lakes of fire, but should be taking his place in the deepest pit being chewed on by satan.I agree, although traditionally that spot is usually reserved for Judas.
-
So Trump used the terrorist attack in London as a platform to justify his travel ban on Muslims. Classy.
-
I so very wish he took a nice tumble down a long flight of stairs.
