Popping in to say I voted for Ben Jealous even though i have a feeling Larry Hogan is going to continue being a lot like Hulk Hogan tonight: surprisingly popular, crushing the competition, not supporting organized labor, and kind of racist. Also voted for Marc Elrich for MoCo executive because we really don't need more rapid unsustainable development that will just make traffic worse and housing costs more expensive.

They only work 50% of the time or something though. So yeah I'll probably end up dead if I'm in DC and nuclear war breaks out.

"Your party lacks a clear message and ideals and is only known for being opposed to Trump"
"Okay let's give up what we consider a fundamental right and a core principle of the party to muddy the waters even more! Also we don't care that the women vote is why we still exist in the first place. Gotta chase that "WWC" vote!"
Honestly even the people who supported Bernie in the primary that I know (which includes a fair number of women/nb people, as well as myself) seem pretty appalled by this. Just because they don't think certain social issues are what every campaign should be built on doesn't mean that they support abandoning progressive stances on those issues, especially something that's as tied to economic justice as access to abortion. Occasional de-emphasis and complete abandonment of principles are not the same thing.
I think it's more like this:
Economic leftists: "Having a strong message on economic equity and social democratic policies is going to get more voters than Identity Politics messaging."
Social liberals: "We need to stick to socially liberal values and we can't abandon marginalized people to chase after this mythical White Working Class voter block."
DNC: "Sticking to two principles is hard, so how about we abandon all of them?"
Leftists & Liberals: "Wait no that's not what we m-"
DNC: "TOO BAD, YOU BETTER DEAL WITH IT"–- Update From New Post Merge ---
We all know the real reason for Islamaphobia in the West. It's because Muslims blow themselves up and kill in the name of Allah.
Go back to watching Fairly Odd-Parents.

RE: Random News Article Discussion II
Marvel is the only company that is despised by both the alt right and the loony left.
I dunno, turning Captain America into a Nazi should be seen as awful by basically everyone.
Also ruining Marvel vs Capcom by being involved with it and making it serious. -

@S.C.:
Well, goodbye health insurance. It was nice having you while it lasted.
Keep in mind they voted down the first repeal and replace bill 43-57. Nine GOP senators out of 52 voted against it, and it needed 60 votes to pass anyway.
McCain is absent from the NO column though, so what else is new.

gotta love the standing ovation all of them gave McCain as he voted to cement his legacy as the biggest hypocrite ever

Pressure? Portman isn't going to be running again for another six years and Heller was already going to be on his way out. Portman can talk about the opioid crisis in Ohio as much as he wants but the fact is that he's a goddamn coward for even entertaining the notion of screwing them over, much less embracing it. And McCain coming back to the floor just to do his old "words of concern" routine and then vote to take away health care for other people with cancer when he will never run for office again means that he's an unprincipled yes-man as well. The party is bad, but individuals who are still a part of the congressional GOP are also bad.

Meanwhile, Portman and Heller have caved and are voting to proceed on Obamacare repeal. Scumbags.
