Opps I didn't mean to be gone for a month! I've still read the comics but didn't come her to comment.
@pariston_hill:
Enjoying Strange Academy Katzztar? I'm digging, feels like early Claremont New Mutants, I wish they dig a little bit more on the teachings of magic instead of doing call ups about what reports the students have to do etc, but at this point I don't thing Marvel intend to change a soft magic system for a hard one.
Oh yeah I'm still enjoying Strange Academy. I feel the focus on students during these early issues is important, while we like the magic (seriously we do!) but just like those Clairmont early days of New Mutants, what makes the book is the personal aspect; from the various personalities of the main students to how the subject of the book affects them (with NM it was their mutanthood, with SA it's their relation to magic). The most recent issue and what happens with Doyle & Emily shows why the set up is important and shows there IS an element of magic and its affect to them that's important but its not spelled out (no fun there then) its a mystery that is slowly being manifested, and may take longer to be resolved.
@Kaiolino:
It's been half a week and I'm still furious about retconning Franklin into not being a mutant. Why is Marvel like this??? Hickman's been setting up Franklin being pivotal for over a year, they just did a miniseries about Franklin's role as a mutant AND a member of the FF.
And then Slott comes running in with hs writers block because "powerful characters are lame!" and decides Franklin just wished he was an oppressed minority to get attention and made it come true with his reality altering powers.
This the first time there's real meaty storytelling opportunities for that brat and Marvel's like naw dog, he's just a mopey teen now. And Slott turning his twitter feed into Stalingrad is making things even worse.
In both the online comic comments and on youtube I've voiced two ideas about this.
1- I know now that the first doesn't really apply but I didn't know about Slott's official take when I wished it was just a decoy, an enemy that used Xavier's image to demoralize Franklin, that it's too convenient in timing for Xavier to appear right then. Not only just as Franklin was thinking, but also its during time a enemy was going about destroying the universes Franklin has created and Xavier would be too busy just to be eavesdropping on Franklin's thoughts to "drop the bomb" when Franklin is at his lowest.
2- this one turned out to be correct- the writer is scum who didn't want to play nice with the Dawn/Reign of X events. He wanted his "cosmic powered First Family" to be ALL that and no more mutants in FF titles…despite decades of storytelling of Franklin being a mutant. He could have done what previous writers did and simply didn't write Franklin taking part of mutant events, simple. But NOOO this asshole has to retcon it so Franklin's not a mutant.
I see this not lasting long. Slott is going to be gone at some point, and new writer with retcon this retcon, making Franklin a mutant again. And it's a simple method too... just see #1 above, blame a enemy for deceiving Franklin and was draining his power until its forced into sleeping then masking his x-gene. THAT has already happened thanks to his dad!

weekly x
! I'm loving this version of Sinister. And for fucks sake Hodge is still alive.
Nothing much to comment on Xfactor this time.
…if Hodge is more machine than flesh, can we really say he is alive?
yehyeah he exists=he's 'alive' .... but my point is he shouldn't be considered a "Real human" anymore but the machines, a post-human maybe
