@Kaiolino:
Everything Trump needs to know about the Netherlands (relevant part starts at 39 seconds in).
Okay, this was quite clever and entertaining~

I find this all genuinly fascinating. Where i'm from you need to provide both your mandatory personal identity number and a valid form of ID in order to start an account. Heck i think the internal foreigner controls are still in play atm, so technically you need to be able to provide valid identification at any given time (Though not in actual practice). The US's more laidback attitude to identity protection is a whole 'nother world to me.
Kind of same with Hungary. Everything is tied to an ID card. Or multiple ones. I need them to be able to get work, to get a student pass for traveling (which is like less than 50% the price of a regular pass), to pick up my mail etc. etc.
Although Hungary goes way overboard with IDs, we have like 5 more than we need (regular ID, place of living ID, tax ID, Student ID, healthcare ID). And of course passport and Driving license if we need those too. So many.

I think the Swedish equivilent experience for the DMV would be going to the hospital.
Takes forever, is convoluted, and you'll probably leave having gotten nothing whatsoever done.
Hey, it's horrible like that in Hungary too!
