I see some people blaming young Dofla for blowing up family's cover. Really? I think people in that scene with Dofla was like: "Wtf with this kid? Is he crazy or something?". It would happen no matter what Dofla did or did not. You can't just hide big mansion with treasure, nice clothes, your habits, manners etc. People would know who they were sooner or later. And my version of how people knew is that someone spread a rumor. Maybe it was Tenryubito's work, to punish Holming for disowning his own kind.
Chapter 763: Human Declaration

Quick question: So in this week's chapter, Doflamingo mentions that he's going to "Reverse" Mountain. MS translated it as "Rivance". Is that an error on MS's part or did MP fuck it up and name some other mountain reverse mountain.
-
I really wanna know what happened between when we first met Law, he was a smirking, smug and as much as I do love him.. prick to a super serious angry person. Also he keeps reminding me of Sasuke. Between being a kid and dealing with all that and the current stuff he seemed pretty happy with his crew and not like he had so much damage.
-
Love the "A Clockwork Orange" makeup on Corazon.
And now we just need someone called Dulcinea. Or Sancho Panza.
-
36 pages and no spam yet??, wow, I'm impressed.

This is something you practically assumed based on a few characters.
This freedom thing you're talking about isn't a pattern.
Portgas D. Rouge and Ace didn't spend their liives fighting for freedom. Garp either. I don't even recall BB saying anything about this.
What I actually want to say to support my argument is the fact that the WG and the Nobles stand for oppression and the pirates and the Ds stand for freedom (this freedom has the same range like the justice of the marine imho, from BB to Dragon, from Sakazuki to Kuzan). I think Oda will never disagree with that. Aside from that, I agree, we know near to nothing about the Will of D. As I said, new theories will propably occur, now we know about Law. And I'm aware of the fact that we can't generalize them. BB is far the worse D as Law will ever get.
Not to mention, all your actions get kinda justified if you're a D. Laws actions and intentions still feel low. With this past, you don't need a D for your urge for revenge on the WG. You only need a DF.But. with Ace's intentions I disagree. He want to be free, he wants to set himself free fom his fathers legacy. (He doesn't want to be a D. and so he died, wtf (I never thought about that))
Law is going after the One Piece, the same as Luffy.
That's an assumption of yourself. Every pirate says he wants to find the OP. Luffy had the chance to know what and where it is, he let it go for the adventure. If Law had this chance, would he ask? Or does it matter to him at all?
Edit: Sorry, for this disfigured post . I'm tired and I don't know to quote properly. gn

I always got the impression Law wasn't ever that fussed on OP or king of pirate stuff.
-
Not really a fan of flashback but this one peaked my interest. Now am so curious on what led to the death of Corazon and how he "saved" Law
-
He has the string fruit so he probably holds a patch over his eye at all times with his pretty much invisible string. Oda pretty much set Doffy up in this chapter for a Doffy eyepatch reveal soon.
I am glad you agree with my super duper prediction.
There can actually be no one else to appear with the infamous eyepatch.
Thinking about it, we know for sure as per Oda-kun's statement that there will be a villain to have the eyepatch. I do not think it makes much sense for a brand new character to appear out of no where to be the foretold eyepatch pirate.
It is more fitting to Oda-kun's style of writing to have this character set up early on for a major reveal towards the end of series. Doffy fits perfectly, he is defeated in dressrosa, and then escapes (either alone or with underlings) leaving no trace only to reappear in a few years time IN THE HOLY LAND.
You heard it here first from me. I am the kingofpridictionsdesu
-
IIRC, they weren't supposed to appear either, but Oda's editors wanted to spice things up so instead of introducing them later in the NW, he sketched all 9 of them in three hours and put them in the SA arc.
I don't think it was like that, Imma ask Aohige about it
-
36 pages and no spam yet??, wow, I'm impressed.
Certainly one of the best chapter threads in a while. I don't have time to participate myself, but thanks everyone for the good read.
-
Another fantastic chapter of One Piece. Law and Doflamingo's back story just keeps getting better. Corazon seems to know his brother is sick and twisted, and he sees what Doffy sees in Law, but wants to save it, not use it for evil.
Law being a D. is a huge revelation, but not all that surprising considering his character. He and his father look it with their dark hair and eyes, and their skill and determination. Makes the character Trafalgar Law all the more interesting. "D." from the ancient kingdoms ancestors, and "Water" might be some Doctor family secret.
Donquixote Doflamingo vs. Monkey D Luffy - this inevitable one on one battle holds such significance not only to the characters directly involved, but to the world itself. I hope that after this arc ends the world learns not only of Straw Hats victory over yet another Shichibukai, but of Doflamingo's true nature. Then we get to see the Gorosei again! Perhaps at the "Reverie", and once again stressing about what to do with these "D." fellows. By then the public would be aware of the corruption of the World Nobles and the Governments Shichibukai system.
-
I have to say, I'm disappointed that Corazon actually spoke. I wanted him to stay mute the whole time because it was interesting. I know he might not do lots of talking, but I liked the idea of him communicating by writing or even sign language. It's not as bad as Pica speaking, because he felt much more menacing as a mute. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge deal, and not everything can go the way you want.
As for those complaining about Law, I do see valid complaints. Law's powers, while we know has some limit, hasn't really been shown to have many weaknesses. His powers are very strong, but there is one thing to note. His powers have little to no effect on Doflamingo. With this we can assume that those around equal or greater power can not be effected easily. If we take a look at Vergo, Law had to do a really powerful attack to just cut him, which we can assume took a lot of stamina. This is conjecture, but we have seen in this arc that Law is not above an ass beating, and everyone else before then were mostly weaker than him by a large margin. The personality switch is a doozy, because it was more of a gag thing, but the fact he won't use it ever now is going to be questioned.
I will also admit him being a D is questionable. I don't think it's bad, but with the lack of information about the D family, and it's significance, I can't really say it was an awesome reveal. It was a surprise to me, but beyond that, it's hard to really say at the moment.
As far as those saying Law is like a Bleach character, or the Sasuke of One Piece, that's not exactly a criticism, at least how I look at it. Bleach characters were interesting for a while, and especially with this flashback, he had become developed. I feel people call him a Bleach character because A) he looks more "realistic" and B) he usually has a more neutral expression. If you look at all the thing Law has done, he's shown a variety of expressions. I'd like to see Byakuya crack smiles, or look at someone like Chopper with a strange look. Law is more serious, but he smiles and when around Luffy and company he has opened up a bit more. Those who think he's like a Bleach character need to explain why it's a bad thing. I remember when people said he was like the Aizen of One Piece. His plans haven't been going terribly well lately.
As for being the Sasuke of One Piece, that depends on what you mean. Sasuke had potential to be a very interesting character, but didn't go in that direction. Law, while debatable about the quality, I feel is the direction it should've been for Sasuke. Because of his experiences, he wants revenge on certain people (Doflamingo and presumably the WG for Flavence). However, he actually made a crew to accomplish his goals, and also wants to find One Piece, so has further goals than just revenge. We actually knew his ultimate goal before his other goal of revenge. Before those who are "but Law was prepared to die to kill Doflamingo", that was when it seemed like he wouldn't be able to carry out his plan, so the other plan was he dies, but then Kaido would finish the rest.
If you don't like Law, that's fine. He is like Zoro in that he is meant to be shown as a badass, and those characters can be annoying. Law does have more going for him, but once again, it depends on the person. By the end of the arc, I think people will have a cemented position on what they think of Law.
-
I like how every character who wants revenge is suddenly Sasuke in disguise.
-
I find the fact that he doesn't even talk to his own brother but just spoke to Law veeery interesting and telling…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Sabo is Sasuke and will marry Lamy.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
on an unrelated topic, why hasn't Robin and Luffy had a conversation about Dragon of some sort?
-
lol it would be nice if Doffy has only a right eye(born like that or lost it under some circumstances) XD
-
I think that thing about the CD's and the D's it's a lil bit more complicated.
Doula seems to be just fine eating and Chillin' with a D
-
Do you guys think if Doffy does have a messed up eye that it was like that from birth/ has some kind of twist to it (he is Sasuke) or Corazon/ Law gave him the wound? Or the villagers stabbed him in the eye with a pitchfork..
-
What I actually want to say to support my argument is the fact that the WG and the Nobles stand for oppression and the pirates and the Ds stand for freedom
There are D's within the Government and There are D's who oppress so this assumption is invalidated. You're literally making this up since this was never mentioned within the series.
And I'm aware of the fact that we can't generalize them
Apparently you're not since you continue to do just that.
With this past, you don't need a D for your urge for revenge on the WG. You only need a DF.
He want to be free, he wants to set himself free fom his fathers legacy
No one knew who his father even was up until Marineford. He was never restricted by this.
That's an assumption of yourself.
No it isn't

If Law had this chance, would he ask?
What does this have to do with anything?
-
I don't get the "Law isn't ambitious" argument. Have we been reading the same manga? He is in an alliance with the future pirate king taking down arguably one of the biggest "evil doers" in OP and he has mentioned he is after One Piece just like Luffy and he has plans of manipulating/defeating the freakin Yonko. Not to mention he became a shichibukai and the captain of the heart pirates and is PROBABLY one of the best doctors in the OP world.
-
I meant Sasuke-ish cus he was a lone survivor or something horrible and has angst the size of a mountain. Good reason to, didn't mean the revenge thing so much.
-
@Mr.:
I seriously doubt much of the Mariejois population is even aware of what goes on in the "normal world." They live in such a ludicrously insular utopian existence (supposedly) that the full grasp of the CD's knowledge of the real world wouldn't fill a thimble. Sure, they leave their acropolis to exploit the local peasantry but that is under the almighty umbrella of the WG which mercilessly puts down anyone who so much as offends a CD (which hardly takes much). The real world is completely alien to them, where "reality" is just a bunch of mewling humans devote their whole existence to the CD's and those that don't get exterminated or punished like animals.
He chose to move into an area outside of WG control, which is key here. That's virtually living in frontier wilderness. What's curious is that even though this territory was exploited by the CD's, it wasn't under WG control. My guess is that the WG had control in the past but recently lost it for some reason. Either way, he nor anyone appears to have had any idea the native public would revolt against them. Just that they'd retire in blissful co-existence.
If anyone wants to go conspiracy theory one this, it could be assumed the CD's knew what would happen to them if they went there and secretly wanted them to be lynched by barbarous humans as a "divine punishment" for rejecting his sacred position or some such conceited CD-like nonsense.
We now know where the "Don Quixote" part of the family name comes from–the well-meaning but delusional father whose idealistic goals were completely impractical in the face of reality. Except here it's more tragic than farcical.
No matter how ignorant about the real world CDs are, as you said yourself, the CDs have gone out in the real world and saw how much afraid and resentful of them people were. It doesn't take a genius to get that your kids need some protection against the normal people when everybody hates you, which is why he should have given them some lessons before leaving (keep a low profile, hide your identity, pretend to be normal, that kind of stuff). And i don't believe that Homer had no idea at all about how the real world is like, otherwise how did he know that the CDs were rotten? You need something good to realize that something is bad, so Homer wasn't totally unfamiliar with the real world, at least not to the degree you are implying.

Maybe he didn´t know Blackbeard´s real name?
Also that scap reminds me that I miss a lot DD´s quirk with chairs. On his debut chapter he sat on the table instead. Maybe he just does it to annoy Sengoku? idk
-
I meant Sasuke-ish cus he was a lone survivor or something horrible and has angst the size of a mountain. Good reason to, didn't mean the revenge thing so much.
Law went through twice the angst and for some reason still acts more sane. Funny thing right?
-
Consider: Supernovas themselfs were made on a fly.
And Law was popular since he was first introduced. Who is to say that Oda didn't decide to capitalise on that early on?
Not sure if this has been adressed (Still reading the thread lol), but I would like to point that this is wrong.
Supernovas were introduced in Sabaody because Oda's editors thougth the arc wasnt spicy enough and that he should add something more. That doesnt mean he didn't have them in mind: In fact, they are all characters that would make an impact in the New World and that Oda just decided to introduce earlier than expected.
So yes, expect important things from the rest of the SUpernovas: Not only Bonney or Drake (The 2 that will for sure get flashbacks since they already have an interesting story behinf them), others like Capone Bege will be geting their development.
If anything, you can use Sabaody to tell which supernovas will be more important, and it's pretty obvious that the 2 that are more important and are going to get more foccus are Kid and Law, since they were the ones who interacted with Luffy. I see Luffy fighting them just before the Blacbeard Pirates, since a triple captain fight would be awesome (LuffyvsLawvsKid) and Laws and Kids combined crews make just PERFECT match-ups for the rest of the Strawhats (Zoro vs Killer, Sanji vs Bepo, etc.)
-

How is his angst more than Sasuke's? Both seem about equal to me.
-
@God:
How is his angst more than Sasuke's? Both seem about equal to me.
Yeah, both were left pretty fucked up by their situations but at least Sasuke got the sympathy of the village after his clan was victimized (not that it meant much), what Law got was a timer, he knew he was living on borrowed time and he was to die soon. Must be pretty depressing knowing you're going to die. More angst is to come since we haven't even gotten to the point where he puts the 'death for revenge' sign on Doula.
Law has all the right to be his emo self.

Funnily enough, Law went through more crap, and still became a better person than Sasuke. He made friends with people, and even got his own crew to do stuff with. He wasn't constantly on about revenge, and even the arc on the person he wishes to take revenge on, he only at times talked about wanting revenge. He actually shows some degree of varying emotions, and has opened up a bit with Luffy's crew. He understands that he needs help to accomplish things.
Better yet, he doesn't take extreme measures for the people at fault. He didn't go, well it was because of a few corrupt people in the WG that made my situation miserable, so now I'm going to kill everyone that's part of the WG. Instead, he's only taking it out on the people that deserve it, Doflamingo and probably the CD's at some point. Doflamingo is more like Sasuke in wanting the world to burn because of what happened to him, but Doflamingo makes more sense because of being spoiled, and never being one who is supposed to be redeemed.
-
DD probably unlocked his CoC when they were tied up there. ONly way they could've escaped.

I have to agree with every word. And there I was thinking that everything would be over once he got his so called revenge. Silly me.
-
Why is there even a discussion about Law and Sasuke being similar? The only similarity I even see is that both their loved ones and acquaintances got killed and they were the sole survivor (which has happened to practically numerous One Piece characters). The similarities end there.
-
I don't think it was like that, Imma ask Aohige about it
"Oonishi: I started from the chapter where Kid, Law, and other Supernova Rookies showed up. But they weren't originally planned.
Watanabe: What!? Really!?
Oonishi: It was already decided that the crew will be separated at SA, but we figured that may not be enough to spice things up.
That's when Mr Oda said "Would it be more interesting if bunch of new characters showed up?"
Then 3 hours after that, he not only finished the designs of all of them, but had the fixed name ("name" is manga term for rough draft of the chapter) with all of them already drawn in." -

Or someone felt bad for them and untie them, or they just broght them to the floor to hit them with sticks or kid Vergo:ninja:

Seems like people think Law is a dark, brooding, emo character like Sasuke. I would be lying if I said I didn't see it a little. Problem is once you get past the revenge part, there are lots of differences in the character, and story execution. I think those who just don't like Law are trying to state they hate him as much as Sasuke.

The fact he could come up with so many various designs in that short of time is something amazing. Probably having done so many arcs at that time helped. He probably had ideas for each of them already. Still amazing non the less.

That thought crossed my mind for a bit.
Then I started thinking that maybe they had no intention of killing them but rather just slow, painful torture.
The situation could've also caused Corazon to go mute.
-
If the supernovas were a last mi ute add on.. What was sabo?
-
It's going to be glorious when X D. Rake betrays Kaido and joins the fray alongside the StrawHearts. lol he may become known as "The betrayer" if it were to happen. It would be nice if he appears in the flashback as well, as a new marine recruit beaten by the Donquixote family or Vergo; not necessarily beaten he could be shown training on the same area as Vergo or even getting trained by him. It would also be nice if he saw that something was up with Vergo(reports, brutality..etc) and that eventually affected his decision on leaving the marines, Doffy could be involved somehow too.
-
Loved the chapter.
So the mysterious ruins were the sea kitten house? I wonder which way they are going now. They still haven't found sea mommy.
Doflamingo past is as bad as I expected. Can't blame the citizens from taking their revenge on what they can. I noticed that only Doflamingo seems to act like CD in this family. Cora seems to mostly clings to his parents. I really don't agree with Homing decision nor do I find the CD horrible for not taking them back.
The Dofla crew is pretty entertaining. I like the whine panel it reinforce how close they are in my opinion. Baby 5 is cute when she use her power on that pirate, and it's cool to see Law training. They really seems like a close group. Hard to believe Law is gonna leave Violet lower body to the marines(I'm not surprise with Buffalo).
Not a fan of Law being a D and I'm disappointed by Cora being able to talk.

I'm pretty sure Oda at the very least had some ideas in mind for the Supernovas, he just moved their appearance to that chapter. He would probably have been thinking about what they would look like in his head, and their potential roles in the story.
Most likely different from Kubo's style. -
