    • RE: Chapter 1,045: Next Level

      At the rate of Luffy getting one punch in per chapter, we will still be in wano end of 2023/24

      –- Update From New Post Merge ---

      @Joy:

      Hopefully next few chapters aren’t like that. Stakes need to be serious and high

      Also now that Kaido directly mentioned awakening, it would be major bullshit for him not to show it.

      I thought his awakening turned him from a fish to a Dragon.

      @zeltrax225:

      It kind of diminished the Katakuri's fight for me. Oh luffy won because he was capable of enduring hits, he's a tanker who got there by hard work. The deciding factor was his endurance! Oh wait, no ..that's part of his zoan ability…so uh, Katakuri would have won but lost because he unironically had the lesser fruit despite the entire fight framing it as if he had the better one.

      Most luffy opponents have commented several times why the light in his eyes won’t go out. Starting from the early fights. Yes Luffy has his own determination and strong will to live. Coupled with the power of Zoan, it took him to extreme levels. Some readers laugh at Luffy calling it plot armor, DF protagonist model. All I’m saying is it makes sense now. How many times did he come back against Crocodile? Won’t go down against Lucci when he should have, all the feats in ID + Marineford. His ability to last or keep coming back makes ID minotaurus looks like kindergarten.
      Katakuri DF was superior to luffy at that time because it was awakened and probably still superior. Luffy’s awakened DF is most ridiculous not about power but about what can be done with it. The flexibility. And yes Luffy outlast Katakuri in that fight. That’s a fact.

      @RigaCrypto:

      Of course they do, Gang Bege, Moria have special forms of the DF that change their appearence in a unique way, but Luffys forms/gears resemble Chopper Ball Point.

      Erm nope. Moria doesn’t change at all, he manipulates his own shadow but his base form always remain. No matter what Bege changes to, the actual Bege still exist. Even when he turned to the giant castle. Real Bege was still inside retaining his normal form.
      This is all completely different to Luffy becoming something new in each Gears.

      Luffy been a mythical zoan actually explains a lot rather than leave a bad taste. The guys stamina and endurance is ridiculous which is common to Zoan fruits users. Several comments have been made about how his body works. He turns to chibi when he started using G3 same way Chopper turned small after using Monster for 30mins. Luffy literally have different forms he called Gears lol. Other Paramecia users don’t have forms.

      Why does Shonen jump said there will be another chapter in 6 days when there’s break?

      @RomanceDawn:

      Now about Zoro and Sanji. Imagine Sanji does feel he needs to be put down later in the arc. After all the partying and celebration Sanji gives Zoro a look and they go out back. Sanji just stands there awaiting the lethal blow only to stop it at the last second and we get a full on Zoro VS Evilji fight! I suppose when ever this hypothetical happens it depends on Zoro still being fully functional by the Mink medicine.

      Zoro will most likely be disabled at the end of his fight with King.

      –- Update From New Post Merge ---

      @King:

      That doesn't really explain how the lady got wounded (she was fine when Sanji first appeared), especially since the other geisha confirm only Sanji was there.

      I just don’t think Oda will take that quality away from Sanji. Something different happened there.

      I’m going to hold on the thought that Sanji beat a woman. I will wait for the full reveal but my guess is a grunt probably tried to rape the lady and the damage Sanji gave the grunt was to scary that the lady was petrified of Sanji. More like a monster like this should not exist.

      Also is King shooting bullets? I don’t understand that panel.

    • RE: Chapter 1,023: Spitting Image

      @Captain:

      It'll be what it is. Remember that Ryuma's genes weren't enough to keep Kuina from dying as mundane a death as falling down the stairs, and didn't propel her father to any grander ambition than making an honest living running a dojo either (give or take some Revolutionary Army support on the side). People in the story are going to say it feels like "destiny" or some such like they always do, but on a purely mechanical level, all it's doing so far is providing Oda a way to draw parallels with the greats of past generations. Zoro's still had to work for what he's got.

      That seem a bit flat. Our rag tag group of nobodies determined to turn the world upside down are actually important people preordained to do so. I reckon Nami grandparents are also navigators that worked for joy boy 😞
      Anyways, One Piece is still a great manga.

      @Captain:

      The absence of confirmation is not confirmation of the opposite.

      At the time, Oda was only willing to confirm Kuina and Koshiro, even hinting that Zoro's lineage was still up in the air. There's no definitive statement that Zoro isn't part of the same family tree. If Shimotsuki Zoro is the way he's planning to go (if) it makes sense that he would have held back there for the sake of doing this chapter the way it is. You're right that we also can't call Zoro's ancestry completely locked in yet, but the design choices made this week are a strong push in that direction.

      I get your point but I really hope it doesn’t go that way. Zoro’s appeal is the random village orphan with a great ambition and works his socks off everyday to be the best. Saying it was all in his genes makes it a bit flat for me.

      @Zik:

      Zoro and Ryuma look exactly alike. Ushimaru also looks like Ryuma and Zoro.

      Zoro is mostly like related to Ryuma through his mother who was most likely a Shimotsuki.

      Also Oda said in Wano there'd be some revelations about Zoro's family.

      We've kinda known the Zoro and Ryuma thing since Thriller Bark though.

      No sir. Oda answered through SBS, Shimotsuki are ancestors of Zoro’s Sensei aka Kunia’s father. Zero relations to Zoro.
