The cover is absolutely fantastic.
@Elektrik:
Its not that I didn't care about the Riku family's fight with Doflamingo, it's just that I cared so much more about Law and his story, which should have remained the focus from Punk Hazard. Making him share with the Rikus kinda put a damper on both cause the focus got split
Yeah, their story was completely irrelevant to me. But I agree with Law, I was completely invested in his storyline and the conflict with Doflamingo. I'd go and say their interaction was more interesting than any interaction Luffy has had with every villain he's faced so far, due to their history. Though I can see that changing with BB, Akainu or another possible last villain. I liked Kyros' part in the backstory though. In regards to the family, I couldn't take it seriously due to One Piece characters being stupid was put on level 10 which is saying something. A king that never goes into wars along with his army starts killing his own people, incredibly weird for such a kind King. A pirate comes to save the day, everyone instantly accepts it. Seems legit. Personally, there should have been less of Rebecca and more of Viola.
This is fantastic and totally deserved. I hope he beats X-men by the time One Piece ends.
Is the chapter coming tomorrow, a day early if spoilers are already out? Also, my cousin told me that she had heard that Oda apparently started watching Game of Thrones. The Thrones quote from Doflamingo then just makes so much sense.
I think his design fits hits character, in the way that he looks like the Sanji bounty poster version of Whitebeard. I think a dumb and immature character like him needs a silly and obviously ridiculous character design; my problem with him is that I don't like him in the position of Shichibukai. Sure he's clearly distinct from all the others, but every Shichibukai outside of Buggy has used the position for ulterior motives. The one upside of Weevil is that an impending disbandment of the Shichibukai wouldn't really disrupt his goals. It's no wonder the WG likes him in the position, since he's basically the ideal Shichibukai: a dumb, powerful, easily directed weapon.
Even the manipulation by his "mother" isn't quite enough since her goals seem quite straightforward as well. I really hope that there's another person in the shadows manipulating the both of them in order to maintain consistency with the more complex Shichibukai.
I know that it's supposed to be silly due to his intelligence, but that doesn't change that I find his design to be completely horrible. If he ends up being Whitebeard's son, I will also be quite disappointed. Then again, Oda could take it at a very interesting angle so better to wait on that aspect.
It's just that i'm reading a lot of people saying that since he was "hyped up as the 7th shichi" he should have been handsome too
No, his design is just terrible. It doesn't help that he might be Whitebeard's son, you would expect a more badass design to come along with it as well. Though the idea of him being an idiot and incredibly powerful is quite interesting. Having a 480m bounty also helps. To me, he's an interesting character with a terrible design. Zou on the other hand looks very interesting.
@uniaka:
Zoro got scared because his arm got frozen a bit by Aokiji and had to go back and heal it along with Sanji's leg. Robin and Luffy got 100% frozen and were fine after that, guess robin and luffy are made looking as by far with best endurance to cold from the crew.
That analogy doesn't make any sense. They both went back because their captain gave the order.
