I may not be the first one here to mention this, but from the looks of it Sugar is able to use (not sure if use is the right term) observation haki. Not like it is a big surprise or anything for someone of her position this far in the story. Let's see how far it takes her!
Chapter 738: "Trebol Army, Special Executive Sugar"
-
-
@Da:
Well just look at it this way: the real Robin was the one who ran and when she got caught she transformed to a clone. Instant teleportation.
…or when Trebol was far Robin hid somewhere and only that Robin was a clone
-
Usopp was always my least favorite since his fight with Luffy but I was willing to try give him a bit of a second chance, come on! He's becoming more annoying each chapter this. was really hoping he'd act like he did in the Water 7 arc or Thriller Bark but it's like he took a step backwards for some reason, oh well…Robin was pretty cool here at least, I can see a fight for her this arc and I'm looking forward to it
Over all, it was an ok chapter. Hope Oda gets back to the other plots next chapter though

Are to talking about how she knows Usopp is there? I think she knows because the Tontattas knew she was lying, which they wouldn't normally figure out on their own. Thus, they have outside help.
-
Hmm…
I'm glad that when push comes to shove, Sugar is no pushover. Neither is Trebol, and I'm glad that Robin was able to trick/outmanever him with that clone thing. Now I seriously can't wait for their fight.
As for Usopp.....well.....I wish Oda would knock it off with the coward stuff. Sure the guy's allowed to be a little scared every now and then, but c'mon on! Usopp, it's your time to shine! You've already got your 8000 followers.

Robin vs Trebol!?
Robin vs Trebol.
Robin vs Trebol!!And, wait, do we know if Delinger's "orders" were actually from Doflamingo? How do we know he's not just really jealous of Bellamy?

Because Bellamy heard Diamante's voice on den den repeating Doula's orders.
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/731/3 I suppose there's an off chance that Diamante is the one who is jealous, but… yeah.

I think he means how she was able to touch each of dwarves without mistake, even with their speed. It's either some super reflexes or Observation. My money's on Observation.
-
Oh wow!! Sugars got skills!! I'm actually mildly interested in her character now! And what the hell….....did Trebol just destory the executive tower? He must know that Sugar can avoid that attack........
Looks like they are quite a good team!! It's cool to see all the match ups unfold!!
Trébol & Sugar VS Robin, Usopp & the Tontatta
Diamante VS Sabo, Rebecca, Bartolomeo & Burgess
Senor Pink & Machvise VS Franky
Lao G VS Thunder Solider & the Tontatta
Dellinger (Probably with Lao G since he was instructed to assist by Diamante)
Pica VS Luffy & Zoro
Jora already defeated by Brook
Buffalo Baby 5 have already been defeated once, but could get another battle. This only leaves us with Gladius, and obviously Doflamingo, for someone to take care of.............I wonder who that'll be?
Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Brook & Momonuske are heading to Zo with the Big Mom pirates in hot pursuit, so unlikely they'll be returning to Dressrosa!!
That's see what happens with Sugar and the whether all the toys become human again...............that's certainly stir shit up!!
-
awesome chapter … we need some real action
fight fight

Well, she didn't sense them before they showed themselves and had to deduce Usopp was there. Actually, Trebol didn't sense them either and he would be a good candidate for a Haki user. Actually, a LOT of people don't seem to use Observation Haki, at least not on a consistent basis like the way Eneru did. Damn, maybe Eneru was some kind of Mantra savant.

Well predicting (or better, hearing moves) in battle seems to be a basic level. Then comes the sensing of people around you, I guess.
And Enel's devil fruit amplified his Mantra greatly. -
Can a mod please edit that horrible horrible horrible "TREVOR" in the thread title?
Thanks. Much appreciated. :) -
What do all the little messages say on the cover page?
-

I tought the same thing, you dont usually throw something dangerous (like a ship, lol) in the place where you keep the most precious "thing" (Sugar) without being 500% sure that it will be safe anyhow.
What is Sugar? A monster in disguise?

Nono, not that. I meant how she calmly handled the gnomes' onslaught. The usopp part was obvious :p

As much as I'd like it to be Usopp using his sniping skills, is it not Robin making the Gulp sound as they've been spotted too quickly?
-
im glad it focused on one group instead of the constant back and forth
word !…....................

Oda: It is time for some real fights in the colisseum
Editor: Nope!, just put some more Ussop's running around screaming like a lady. -
As much as I'd like it to be Usopp using his sniping skills, is it not Robin making the Gulp sound as they've been spotted too quickly?
The Mangastream version is cleaner, and Robin is the one making the "Gulp" sound, though they have it translated as "Turn." Given the circumstances, I think mangapanda is correct in this case.
-
i'm talking about what happened in this chapter…robin power doesn't work this way,at least as it was established for nearly a decade in the manga, and Oda should know this more than anyone else.
we always make fun to manga like naruto and bleach for inconsistencies of this kind.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
1- because he made a rule for his life to never run away from a battle because he will always have someone to protect behind him
2- he is an old man that seeks peace, also,he usually ends up shipwreckingalso,i'm not talking about "what if",i'm talking about a power that was descripted back in alabasta and used in a consistent way until now, that now suddenly changed his rules
Hey Maju i'm just wondering, was it explained in details how robin's fruit works? You seem to think it's pretty black and white, was it explained a certain way that it can'T change with the course of time? Again i'm just wondering, not trying to argue or be a dick. It's just that I expect primary character's powers to change during the story, (first exemple that comes to mind is brook after time skip)

Franky and the hamsters cover page was cute, especially the one doing his suuuperr pose.
We finally got to see the smile factory from inside. Wow, Tontattas are even more gullible than I thought.
I didn't think Robin would stop Leo but I definitely saw the Robin clone coming. Clever move. Also, Sugar's multiple hands?
Trebol was enjoyable. He still had the ankle cuffs and his feet's condition looked a bit weak.
Overall, a very good/much needed chapter. Now, can we please have Sanji next week?wasn't that speed effect?
-
I wish Dragon had taught Haki to Robin.
-
I wish Dragon had taught Haki to Robin.
That's something that's been bothering me a little. Haki seems to be very common ability in the new world, why wouldn't anyone in the revolutionary army teach her about it in those two years?!
-
Aww man. Fun chapter. It was a bit offsetting to suddenly switch to the Smile Factory but I'm glad we know where it is exactly now. I was kinda hoping Sugar could hold her own and not just have a really strong ability. Usopps the best suited to dealing with her then since he can fight from range. I'm not sure how Robin would fight Trebol. If he really is a Logia, which this chapter seemed to suggest, then she cant touch him without exploiting some kind of weakness. Also, DAMN TREBOL! You Scary! The name of the attack is really awesome. I just turn the page and the first thing I see is "METEORA!" Good chapter overall, and once again can't wait til next week.
-
This chapter tells me that Usopp and Robin are a good match for Suger and Trebol. They're being careful, and no engaging directly against an enemy that's both extremely deadly and important to defeat. Either Sugar or Trebol could disable you in one move, so I'm going to say that they're currently cowardly tactics are a good thing. It's going to be interesting to see how Usopp and Robin work together here–this could end up being a real battle of strategy over raw power.
Meanwhile, if you wanted raw power, that's where Franky's fight is. Ha! I'm enjoying how these fights are shaping up.
-
Didn't notice the chains on Trébol ankle. So I guess that theory about the Donquixote family being made of slaves he freed will turn out to be true.
Although I wonder, why keep the chains after all this time?
Doffy: After all this time?
Trébol: Always
Doffy: … you are too close. -
So Trebol's MO is to ensure Sugar's safety… And then he drops a fucking ship on the building she's in?
Either Trebol is very impulsive, or Sugar is agile enough to avoid injuries from that. It just seemed like a slightly random reaction on his part. That said, seeing him spring into action with that kind of power is really cool - he's obviously not a pushover.
-
If the dwarves are the only ones that can grow smiles. Do you think that’s the reason Mingo took over Dressrosa. Which means Vegapunk discovered how devil fruits work more than ten years ago. And since hearing about it Mingo has been building this elaborate plan.
First become Shichibukai.
Second take over Dressrosa.
Third find a scientist capable of cultivating these fruits. -
The translation is really terrible but other than that it was a good chapter.
I honestly underestimated Trebol a lot until this chapter. Usopp and Robin certainly need to be on their feet in order to take these two out.
-
Nice chapter.
I especially liked Robin's deception. Sugar is also fine. -
Wow great chapter, I really underestimated both Trebol and Sugar! I thought they would both be a lot weaker than they appear to be.
Loved Usopp in this chapter, as well as Robin's tactical thinking.Hopefully she was taught Haki by Dragon, if not that seems really like a major oversight, I mean a lot of people in the new world use haki, so it would make sense to at least try to teach it to her…
Anyway rant over, I really enjoyed the chapter, hopefully we get a good Usopp+Robin vs Sugar+Trebol even if it seems they might be too weak to stand a chance. Oh and Sugar is a Badass :D -
I think the problem is Sugar's contracts. So far we've only seen her give two orders. That might mean she can't give any more than that but also her contract was kill everyone in the tower and Trebol just destroyed the tower so now that part of the contract should be void. I suspect a similar situation happened with Lightning Solider.
-
Just imagine what would happened if trebol were accidentally turned into toys by sugar
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
but I don't think this is a great chapter, I mean the story was too short. not much revealed and interesting except ussop being more coward. I think Oda should make deeper story or reveal some interesting scene next chapter.
-
Will the whole discussion thread be focused on Robin's clone power? Seriously?
Also, the rules from 10 years ago don't necessarily apply after the time skip. Chopper says HELLO THERE!
Wait, atleast it's on topic dude, seriously
-
Pretty good chapter. Enjoyed the dynamic of Robin distracting Trebol while Usopp and the dwarves stayed behind to handle Sugar. And yes…Usopp's cowardice is being driven to the point of being insufferable imo...even moreso than Sanji's nosebleeds...at least he kinda had an excuse considering what he went through for 2 years. Usopp should, by all means, not be THIS scared. I mean, even before the factory, he said he'd just up and run away at the sign of danger...not cool.
I see all this "inconsistency" talk about Robin's clone powers and her "needing to be rooted"...uh, firstly, "Is she floating?" No...then if anything, she's "rooted" one foot at a time while running. If that's doesn't do it for you, she pulled a Moria when she was caught and replaced herself w/ a clone she sprouted offscreen somewhere. And people say she's not a "heavy hitter"?! Yes, she hasn't taken down any big names...but Pre-TS, she was able to sprout her Cien Fleur Big Tree (I think it was called), and was able to hold Oars arm behind his back...Oars...a giant that dwarfed regular giants. Do people really think that a punch, smash, or slap from her giant hands wouldn't hurt or at least knock Trebol away (even for a tactical retreat)?
-
So why did Trebol smash a ship into the place containing the person he's supposed to be protecting? Seems a bit reckless!
Also, I wonder what happened to the hornets. If the grape plan ends up falling through, scaring a child with a huge swarm of bees sounds like an excellent Plan B. -

-
Regarding Robin and Haki, we know she doesn't have it and may not need it. We don't know if Trebol is a logia or a paramecia. Personally I hope he is a paramecia, we've had enough logias since the timeskip, they'read supposed to be rare.
-
That's something that's been bothering me a little. Haki seems to be very common ability in the new world, why wouldn't anyone in the revolutionary army teach her about it in those two years?!
Nico Robin likes to be mysterious. It's quite possible that later down the line we will learn that Robin does have Haki. Not powerful one but enough to put in her share
After all even Sanji and Zorro know Haki I don't think we have ever seen them use it. So it could very well be the case that Robin simply found it pointless to share for now until she develops some kind of technique where she can use the Haki
Anyway I really really hope we finally get to see Robin for once actually having a proper fight. I think if she fights smartly and uses a lot of clones she could defeat him. And you know what. After all this time she deserves a goddamn good win
Also I really hope Sugar gets killed. Such an ability is way too powerful to be kept in play
-
Is there a reason why MangaPanda still insist its "Trevor"? Surely someone would have corrected them by now.
-
I am laughing at the possibilty of sugar fainting after seeing ussop's 2 ton hammer ! Perona madness! Hehehe

She didn't use CoA against Monet, though.

Ugh… I hope not. Perona got off too easy. Female villains are villains too, even the cute ones should get what's coming to them. Even burning up by means of a super-spicy grape seems like a pretty light punishment for brainwashing hundreds of people.
-
Damn, Sugar is awesome, and it looks like a Robin vs Trebol fight is on the way!
An alright chapter overall!
-
I wanna say that Usopp didn't piss me off to no end but that would be a huge freaking lie.
-
I am laughing at the possibilty of sugar fainting after seeing ussop's 2 ton hammer ! Perona madness! Hehehe
2? After time skip / 2 years training?? Only 2???
-
Usopp's cowardice wasn't all that surprising. He was pretty much shown as the biggest coward in the group in the Punk Hazard arc (save having the balls to attack CC). His biggest showing in that arc was attacking the beaten and weakened Buffalo while he was flying away alongside Nami. Their speech about specializing in fighting enemies who have lost the will to fight pretty much cemented those two as the most cowardly Straw Hats.
However, it is kind of a regression from the FI island arc, where Usopp displays nearly unwavering courage and confidence during the climactic confrontation. Seems the terror of the New World has caused a relapse of sorts. I'm guessing Usopp's bravado early on was only a temporary bluff and the unresolved issue of his Sogeking persona vs usual Usopp self is going to come to head later on and hopefully snap him out of it.
-
@DEE:
That was Ussop… He shot the tabascobiscut in the right place! and she swallow'd it. GULP
If you watch carefully, the one who says "GULP" isn´t Sugar but Robin since she realized that her plan had failed
-
Usopp's cowardice is a shtick. Jeez.
It's what makes him who he is, it's intrinsic of his character.
The whole point is that when it comes down to it, he can overcome his fear and do what needs to be done.
So let's just chill with the ragging on Usopp for acting as he characteristically should.
-
When the enslaved dwarves appeared, I thought it was finally time to see Mashelly :( Not this time. Again.
Well, at least I got the confirmation she is not being kept along with the other dwarves, so my hopes that Kinnemon and Wicca disappeared 'cause they went to release her and Kanjurou may come true.
Trébol. I really like this guy. I really do. I wonder how the fly didn't got stuck in his sticky thing, though.
Anyways, as things are now, I think it will be Usopp and Robin against Trébol, Leo against Sugar.
-
I am laughing at the possibilty of sugar fainting after seeing ussop's 2 ton hammer ! Perona madness! Hehehe
Not sure about the manga, but in the anime Ussop first used a 5 ton hammer on Mr 4 back in Alabasta to knock him out and later at Thriller Bark he pulled out a 10 ton hammer on Perona. Going by that chronology, I would expect the next hammer will be in the neighbourhood of 20 tons, yikes.
