Kyros is amazing and awesome
But one thing i did not get clearly
Was he using a sword without a blade in the Colosseum just like his daughter?
One Piece Chapter 741 - Usoland The Liar
-
-
… Rants ...
Sorry, but, to me? That whole scene was incredibly unsatisfying.
No one can please everyone. I'm glad that I'm pleased with the recent chapters.
-
I really liked the Usopp part
But another Flashback
buuuh
who cares -
Kyros for nakama might not be that stupid, since he might not find himself at ease in Dressrosa.
But not, won't happen. -
You know, if Oda really parallels Alabasta and Dressrosa as extensively as he already has, I can see Sugar joining the crew, especially since she was portrayed in a sympathetic light this chapter. Female defector that's highly ranked on the bad guys' side, etc.
No, just no.
Sugar is worse than Crocodile. -

wait,what?
-
Well Trebol is bleeding so maybe he died instead of shifting to logia form.
This not Berserk.
-
And also, I'm surprised people on the spoilers thread totally loathed the idea that Usopp might revert back to his Sogeking persona in order to find some courage. Well, that was a much, much better scenario than what we got. If the infamous Thriller Bark scene that's been discussed to death lately told us anything, is that in times of desperation Usopp taps into his inner courage in the form of a split personality, Sogeking, and he even has some fucking internal dialogue with that personality!!! Now, with that totally flushed aside, it seems that scene was a random case of split personality that totally got cured after the time skip, yet, weirdly, Usopp became much more coward and even treasonous in the process.
Sorry, but, to me? That whole scene was incredibly unsatisfying.
You seem to have forgotten the main reason for Sogeking's existence. He didn't come about as some sort of split personality that Usopp uses to fight, he came about to hide his shame about leaving the crew when Robin was in trouble. He technically shouldn't exist in a world where Robin doesn't exist.
-
Oh, an on-screen death everyone!
Spent too much time on Other Anime/Manga,
That blob is probably just his hair then.
-
also, soo disappointed hat trebol is a logia, that goes against everything oda said about that fruit class.
-
@Esu:
Kyros is amazing and awesome
But one thing i did not get clearly
Was he using a sword without a blade in the Colosseum just like his daughter? They don't fight to death nor kill in the colosseum back then.
-
@Esu:
Kyros is amazing and awesome
But one thing i did not get clearly
Was he using a sword without a blade in the Colosseum just like his daughter?Yeah he was.
Also I still don't forgive usopp for the last chapter but at least they know that he is usopp and not usoland now -
Yeah he was.
Also I still don't forgive usopp for the last chapter but at least they know that he is usopp and not usoland nowNor Sogeking.
I'm tired of Strawhats not being known stuff, but it seems even Oda is about to change that. -
Really good chap imo
But i can't help luffy is gonna made himself à shit ton of ally with all this toys watching with some from the collosseum and they're all thinking "straw hat crrw is gonna save us" i love that because of that is going to be more and more important in the new world and it will help is progression in the NW.
Like mihawk said this boy knows how to make allies.
And i admit i love this ! -
Well well will you look at that, Trebol turn out to be a logia after all.
And yes Usopp will need a saving from Trebol, this will be like another Usopp vs Jabura people fell for Oda's obvious plot.
If Usopp beats one of Doflamingo top 3's then, Doflamingo crew is a pure joke compared to their captain Dofla and Vergo. And I think that Usopp deserves and really needs this win against Trebol. I thought that hel'll take down Sugar and someone will save him from Trebol, but now it looks like Sugar will sooner or later undo what she had done. She looked like she was about to cry when she heard dwarfs talking about her deeds. Usopp after being pathethic liar and coward for this whole arc needs to win against Trebol, he never sank as low before. If he is to lose now then he really is a poor, good for nothing loser. Everyone is looking at him, every toy in the factory now knows that he is Usopp of the Straw Hat crew, this is a great way for him to gain his 8000 followers and I don't want any outside help for him, becasue he needs to do it alone now to redeem himself. Just coming and getting beaten or saved surely won't be enough.
-
After 2 weak weeks, a really subpar chapter.
I don't usually agree when people talk about Oda predictability, but this time, damn, anyone could see it coming from miles away. It was done so incredibly poorly. The fact that Usopp went through this exact same development waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Arlong arc and for some reason Oda decided he would need to revert to what he was when he joined the crew really doesn't help…
Seriously, I think this is the first OP chapter that I can call downright terrible.
-
Finally.
Trebol is a Logia. Good job to people explaining Logia the past few weeks. A battle won.
-
Nor Sogeking.
I'm tired of Strawhats not being known stuff, but it seems even Oda is about to change that.Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. He calls himself the hero 'usopp' and not 'sogeking'. And also it looks like he is having the buggy effect on not just the dwarves now. Soon to be 8000
-
11chapters still no Sanji. I believe they're either gonna be beaten up or escaped. Then Oda will cover this long period of time with a flashback.
-
I hope Usopp wins by himself, his profile needs it.
He also needs some bounty.
But even if he does that he ll still be my least favourite sh.
Haters gonna hate, yes we ll hate -
No, just no.
Sugar is worse than Crocodile.Don't know about that Croc was pretty dam evil, he's up right up there with DD in his evilness.
-

is that hard to understand that they are gone till the end of the saga?we are going to see what happened to them only after dressrosa is finished,it was already clear enough
-
@Esu:
Kyros is amazing and awesome
But one thing i did not get clearly
Was he using a sword without a blade in the Colosseum just like his daughter? Before Doflamingo all weapons in the Colosseum didn't had edges! That was explained time after time. Notice as before people hated Kyros because he had killed somebody, but now they are all happy to see people killing themselves in the Colosseum.
Other thing notice how Kyros broke a shield and armor and half killed a lot of people with a sword without blade, but people where all hating of Rebecca for having attacked Diamante with such a sword(And the fact that the king did the same thing and defeated a lot of guys, and people here were all happy) -
And I think that Usopp deserves and really needs this win against Trebol. I thought that hel'll take down Sugar and someone will save him from Trebol, but now it looks like Sugar will sooner or later undo what she had done. She looked like she was about to cry when she heard dwarfs talking about her deeds. Usopp already redeemed himself, all he has to do now is to make Sugar to revert the toys back. Usopp defeating Trebol will leave a very bad taste to the readers,
1- one of the weakest Strawhat beating one of the strongest of Dofla?(Hell no!) doesn't make sense from the hype Trebol has gotten.
2- People won't expect much from Pica and Diamanté anymore.(That means Bart alone can handle Diamanté)
3- we overestimated Trebol and underestimated Usopp and other Strawhats.Anyways, if Usopp needs a win fight, then they're other opponents out there, Dellinger, Lao G, Gladius, Buffalo, Baby 5 etc. Robin and Usopp will end fighting one these guys.
-
The Usopp return was pretty cookie-cutter, especially by Oda's standards, but I really enjoyed the Kyros flashback.

Totally agree with this one. I even thought and wondered if I am getting old for these kinds of scenes. Oh well, honestly, the only thing that interests me in this arc is how Sabo gonna get the Mera.
-
Well shit, I thought the chapter was just fine. There might have been one or two pages of unnecessary fluff but that's not anything rare for most manga.
I'll agree that the Usopp turn-around situation felt very "been there done that", but fighting an actual strong opponent is a first for him I believe.
I actually liked the flashback and it's pacing. The flashback device is so overdone and drawn-out these days that quickly-paced shorty versions are just fine for me. The focus of the fb was interesting as hell too, Kyros kind of looks like Monkey D. Dragon which made me lol. And I have a feeling that his dead buddy might have been someone SUPER important, we never learned his/her name. I expected the name on the tombstone to be the "end chapter" cliffhanger/reveal, ah well maybe next chapter.
This whole chapter was just pretty damn solid imo, it sucks to hear that so many ppl seemed to hate it. This chapter did nothing except pique my interest about Kyros and his dead friend and the beastly color page was just delicious icing on the cake.

1 - Trebol is apparently made of a flammable substance. If Usopp beats him it will be because of that, not because of a lack of strength on Trebol's part.
2 - See point 1. Even at that, Trebol losing doesn't have any impact on how strong the other 2 are.
3 - Again, see point 1. If Usopp wins, it will be tactically, and won't detract from the strength of the top executives at all.Regardless, at this point I don't think we'll see that anyway.
Usopp will outsmart Trebol and manage to incapacitate Sugar, leaving one of the de-toyified fighters to deal with him, most likely.
-
If Usopp got such redemption then I can't wait to see Sanji's.
This chapter gave me hope that Sanji has done something epic or will do, and Absalom will write about it.(Absa the freelancer) -
also, soo disappointed hat trebol is a logia, that goes against everything oda said about that fruit class.
I too was hoping he wouldn't be logia, but what you say isn't exactly right as sticky substances are available naturally.
-
The only thing which will ever justify Usopp's recent behaviour (Usopp with one s and two p) is that Oda manes his battle and performance badass. Sure, he cant completely own Trebol and faceroll it.
-
so there's a break next week but since nothing interesting happened it's no big deal.
-
I'm sorry, but no, it wasn't. Not for a situation that Oda has been building up for soooo long. The payback basically consisted on "Ok, ok, I'll go back and fight, you stop dying for a while, will you? Now, let's do this snipper thingie. . .".
I mean. . .the fuck? Suddenly he goes back cause Trebol is starting to stomp then, potentially killing the dwarves? What the fuck were you expecting, Usopp, leaving them half-dead in front of the enemy to do with them as they please? Were you expecting, maybe, that they would treat them to some candies and hot chocolate, let them recover, and then give them a free bus ride back to Green Bit?
Of course they were about to abuse the guys that started a rebellion! That never crossed his mind? "I'll run away from here, leaving the clearly unable to move Tontattas lying on the ground on the verge of death. I mean, what could possibly happen to them? Nothing, of course!" "splat, crunch, splat" "Shit, he's crushing them under his feet! How could this happen?????".
And also, I'm surprised people on the spoilers thread totally loathed the idea that Usopp might revert back to his Sogeking persona in order to find some courage. Welp, it's true I was expecting much more from Usopp's redemption (like Sogeking). Let's hope the fight is satisfying at least (or it will probably be offscreened next chapter lol).
-
so there's a break next week but since nothing interesting happened it's no big deal.
Yes, and after that it's back to Kyros flashback. Let's hope it's better than the rest from this arc.
-
I too was hoping he wouldn't be logia, but what you say isn't exactly right as sticky substances are available naturally.
the rule was not about things being natural, but something being some kind of natural calamity/phenomenon
also, his fruit is the sticky-sticky,it's not like he is made of any substance in particular..he is just "sticky" and emits a "sticky thing".
the only hope, even if convoluted as hell,is that he can riassemble because of his stickyness,so that even if he get's damaged by cut's,he can heal himself by glueing back toghether his body
but as I said,it would be incredibly forced as a solution–- Update From New Post Merge ---

guys, with robin out of the picture, sogeking does not exist anymore.

1. Usopp didn't come back JUST because the dwarves were in trouble, the way you simplify it like that makes me unable to take you seriously honestly, nor do I imagine you taking Usopp's character seriously so I imagine this would be a bad chapter to you (with a good translation or not) or anyone who dislike him for that matter.
2. Trebol started hitting them because of their faith in their so called "Hero", Leo's belief in him that he would defeat even Trebol and save everybody annoyed him (as I imagine most of you Usopp haters lol).
3. Usopp came back AFTER everything was laid out for him, what's at stake, what's riding on him, it was all said by Leo through the Den Den Mushi, but it's not even just that either.. he came back to them just to tell them the truth that so far he indeed was a liar, but he WILL become their hero.. if you can't call that character growth then I really should not have bothered to even reply to you in the first place.
3a. + Bonus points to Usopp for readying himself to die in a battle against Trebol just to prove that these dwarves aren't JUST naive fools that get tricked by anybody, hell that's even ironic since Usopp is/was a liar.
4. If you think Sogeking should come out, as epic as that may be, it just really solidify my belief that you really don't see Usopp's character growth nor respect it.Sorry if any of that upsets you, it is your opinion after all, but I for one liked this chapter and the part about Usopp ALMOST made me shed manly tears, so when you aggressively state your opinion unto someone else's then I thought I would mine.

Well I definitely agree with Usopp outsmarting Trebol. But on the flammable stuff, I don't like the idea.
It's been used before with CC, and he knew that and how to counter such action. Now, will it look good if Trebol has no counter for such thing, considering he casually blatant it out in public like that? Unless Trebol is some dimwit. -
Maybe Oda is looking for the manga to look good in Volumes rather than in chapters only ? I think if you read 12 chapters in a row the pace looks much better.
-
One question.
Will the People whose family members were turned into toys, know which toy that family member became?
I know most will (like Wanpoko the dog). Most of them will tell their loved ones the terrible hell they went through while they were forgotten. But will Rebecca know Toy Soldier was her father, unless he actually tells her that he was Toy Soldier?
-

Tbh you say this, but so far we've seen Trebol be fooled by the old switcheroo and then throw a ship at the building containing the person he's meant to be charged with protecting.
He's not one of the great thinkers of the world.

@Thousand:

You know, it's actually a very weird sensation. I mean, last week's chapter seemed to get an awful response from everyone, but I thought it was pretty damn good. There were lots of things to enjoy there. Gladius abilities, Doflaemon, Oda remembering the freaking destruction that Baby 5 caused like 60 chapters earlier. . .and the cliffhanger angried many, if not everyone, and yet I thought, Oda will somehow make it work!
And yet, for the first time, I feel like literally nothing from this chapter satisfied me. It feels so wrong. . .
Now, of course the fights can be good, the climax can be good, the remaining flashbacks can be good, the aftermath of the arc can be good, the Sunny situation can be good. . .I don't think the arc is ruined or anything like that. It's just that, for the first time, I'm just utterly disapointed and dissatisfied at a One Piece chapter, and it was at a such important moment.
It seems the response so far has been surprisingly positive for what I thought would be a total shitstorm, so maybe it wasn't as bad as I'm making it out to be, but on a personal level, this chapter (and considering there's a break next week. . .) left me totally down.
And I'll refrain from going at it till Powermanga's version is out, since I'm just being a downer to everyone else in the chapter thread, and people genuinely enjoyed it, and I hate to be the party pooper. . .

since he will not transform in front of her,no,she will not know until he says it to her.
same for all the other peope in dressrosa,if the toys is in front of them, they will probably connect the dots..but if he/she is not,no reason why they should know that X toys was her boyfriend -
Well that was an unsatisfying chapter. Ussop's return was pretty underwhelming and I still don't know why I hate King Rikku so much but I do.
-

Sorry but when did this happen? When she made that slightly odd face? While she doesn't seem particularly sadistic she's still been enslaving Dressrosa's citizens for ten years. There's no way she's gonna get redemption!
Besides her power is too hax. She'd just touch her opponents and turn them into toys, there's no excitement in that.
Trebol is a Logia. Good job to people explaining Logia the past few weeks. A battle won.
Thanks man! Can I be a senior member now?
Anyway while I was never huge fan of dwarves, I really felt for little guys in this chapter! They're so hopelessly naive, yet their faith in "Hero Usoland" was what finally snapped him out of his cowardice! Trebol vs. Usopp should be exiting.
Aaaaand another flashback. I would love it otherwise, but it just rushes too much! First Kyros is a street thug, then he's a gladiator, then he's freed but keeps fighting anyway because everyone hates him and then we find out he's actually sad that everyone hates him… all in five pages. There's no emotional buildup whatsoever! Put a montage there or something.
-
I'm sure he'll have some kind of counter to it, Usopp would have to find a way to counter the counter obviously lol.
Tbh you say this, but so far we've seen Trebol be fooled by the old switcheroo and then throw a ship at the building containing the person he's meant to be charged with protecting.
He's not one of the great thinkers of the world.
So it will be a merry-go-round countermeasure fight? Sounds fun but Usopp should hope Trebol never closes the space between them, because I'm sure in close combat he will be done for.
Yep, Trebol seems to lose it so easily. But this shouldn't cause a man who's been put up there with Pica, diamanté and Vergo to be beat by Usopp, being played or fooled by Usopp I totally accept.
-
sigh OK, even though I'm still bitter about the last chapter, I will admit that this chapter was alright, mainly because of Kyros's flashback.
Oh and the colorspread looks awesome BTW!
-
This chapter was a gigantic "hell yeah" for me. So many Usopp doubters seemed to surface after last week's ending and to see that get debunked this week with this fantastic turn-around was definitely worth it for me. Like, I knew he was going to come back, because this is Usopp that we're talking about here, but attacking Trebol head on??? That's insane, I really don't know how he'll manage to overcome this battle if it continues all the way through. I think this is the first time that Usopp has ever really owned up to one of his lies too, which is really cool, and proves that he does indeed care about his comrades despite what a shitton of people seemed to think based on last chapter.
The Kyros stuff was like a small appetizer in comparison, but it was cool to see him as a human. I see this lasting another chapter longer before cutting back to present time.
-
Whoa-ho, awesome colorspread. Although Robin looks more "sexy" than "badass", compared to the others. I think I liked Brook's costume the most.
Here it is, the redemption chapter.
Trebol and Sugar are mocking the dwarves, but all of them are confident Usoland will save the day. Especially Leo, who has this eery smile on his face (despite being beaten up). I'll admit, that got to me. Usopp tries to flee, but keeps hearing the dwarves' plea, and Leo stating his faith in the mighty Usoland.
Overcome with guilt, Usopp turns around and admits he was lying…..but vows to be the hero the dwarves needed. Er....
shrug I dunno, I felt this could've been handled a lot better. It felt so....meh. More or less the same set-up as Usopp fighting back against Chuu, only then it had more emotional....uh, genuineness. It's so....underwhelming, and when you see the chapter title, you think "oh man Usopp is not gonna mess around anymore". Was I expecting some kind of argument with his Sogeking side? I have no idea. I also don't think it makes up for Usopp trying to selfishly run away, and Robin being made into a toy to build up to this turnaround.
However....
I loved the Kyros flashback. Heh, I didn't even consider the possilbility he was some kind of dangerous criminal before being roped into joining the tournament.
Although, I'm worried this chapter disproves my whole idea of "SOP plans fails, forcing heroes to regroup and replan, arc gets breathing room". I dunno. We'll have to see how Zoro vs. Pica plays out and what Doflamingo is gonna do. Also where is Sanji and the others?
