This chapter was a nice contrast to that last two, which had 3 huge reveals. If Oda kept giving us fan service right in the beginning of this arc it would start to feel stale. And I think is one of the only times in this arc so far that he has stuck to one scenario.
I'm sort of interested in Toy House and the toys but I don't care much about the dwarves. They feel really dull as characters and it's hard to be emotionally invested in their cause. Even some cute character gags to liven them up would be better than what we've got right now. Same thing with Rebecca. Christ, what kind of characterization is that?
About Senor Pink…the thing that made me weirded out by the bra scene was, at first, I thought he ate that chick's tit, and that those stains were blood. "Holy shit, what a weird ability," I thought. Then I reread and felt stupid for not noticing that he was wiping his mouth.
I'm not offended by the character or what he did, though I can see how people can be. But honestly Absalom situation was much worse than this. Senor Pink is just a douchebag to random Nami clones, Absalom is a true sexual assaulter/ rapist to main characters.
@auem:
to be one shotted like a fodder…:ninja:.sometime harassing this type of character looks cool....moreover he has plenty of big characters to play with in this arc...
You think the four people that the finalists of the colosseum were prepared to fight are going to be one-shotted by Franky?
That'd be really dumb.
@Darth:
And best thing about this?
This manga is targeted towards male readers between 13 and roughly 23 years old, raised in a completly different culture.
And I'm pretty sure most of them would not care about this scene in any way whatsoever.
@Phoenix:
Well yeah, it's a gag. If he offended people it obviously wasn't intended. But if he did….......so what? It was never implied to be a serious scene.
Indeed, there is a cultural difference here. In Japan, media is highly sexualized. Where western audience get offended by certain aspects of sex while violence is always okay. His majority audience doesn't care. They most likely found it humorous.
Please, please don't make a cultural relativism argument.
