Once Roger declared that he left his treasure at that place the entire world had a fire lit underneath it. You’ve got to imagine any force of authority in the world had their hands full once the Great Age of Piracy began. We don’t know who they went after, if they did, when they did, and if the government was successful at catching any of them. It’s a complete non-issue as far as I’m concerned.

RE: Chapter 1122: Time is Right
I really enjoyed this chapter and became an Emet fan over night. In the spoiler thread there was discussion about giving Emet more build up and characterization before all this. I don't doubt that something like what would have made the scene more impactful. However what was given really worked for me.
When I first read the scene it reminded me of experiencing The Lord of the Rings before The Hobbit. When Gimli stumbled upon the grave of Balin, I felt a little sad for him but I didn't think much of it. Now after going through the Hobbit and deep diving into all things Lord of the Rings, Gimli's tragic discovery carries so much more weight.
Of course the story was meant to be experienced with the Hobbit first but I started with the movies. Also none of that excuses how One Piece went about this latest scene with Emet. However, I give One Piece the benefit of the doubt because of it's 27 year history. With the tiny bit that we were shown I can tell Emet has been on some amazing adventures, experiencing all kinds of joys and sorrows. The little dialogue that we were given has already painted a picture that stirs my heart just a tiny bit.
Now while I have faith that we'll get a fleshed out flash back due to Joy Boy being such a prominent figure, if for some reason we didn't get any more on Emet, I'd be fairly satisfied with it's characterization. Of course Emet could get Kaido'd lol.
Emet talking with Luffy and Joy Boy just feels so wholesome.
About the Conquerors Haki disrupting the Elders. I'm reminded of Zoro intimidating Monet into literally falling apart. I believe Brennen brought forth an argument about that being a hint to Zoro's CoC usage. Remember Isurvivedthebustercall? Wonder how she's doing these days? She would often question why Conquerors Haki could have physical affects to White Beard's ship and what not. There just seems to be some other applications that might disrupt properties of Devil Fruits and/or magic spells. With the giant Captains questioning it so clearly, I bet we get answers eventually.

RE: One Piece Live-Adaptation Drama Announced
A friend of mine got to see the live action series. Not a One Piece fan but says it's surprisingly good and for what it's worth say's not a live action Cow Boy Bebop. I don't know what that means.
I'm hopeful.

RE: How was your Day 2 (general chat)
Tuesday I was invited to Dancing With the Stars to support Xochitl Gomez. She's my martial arts student. People were wondering who I was like I was important lol. It was a bit emotional seeing her up there like that, made me tear up a little. It was filming live and not a moment after the camera left me I get a text from the east coast saying "quit all that crying already."
Then today I get a FaceTime video call from Funimation's Kaidou, David Sobolov. A friend of mine who knows him personally had I'm call me and talk briefly about One Piece. It was quite a surprise!

RE: Chapter 1062: Adventure in the Land of Science
So cute. Anyone else notice that Chopper gave his Wano hat to Jinbe who then stored it in his kimono? Right the brasier! lol

RE: The Weight Of Elbaf
Fishman Island, Wano and now Elbaf. The promise of the story getting there after so many years and any detours certainly build up the expectations!
Should it be Oda’s best work? I don’t know but I imagine like my younger self(getting so excited for the crew reunion and Fishman Island) readers might subconsciously be expecting Elbaf to be stellar.
I can imagine there will be major revelations that Oda has been waiting to spill for over 2 decades now. They will be exciting I’m sure but we just gotta see the execution. I’m not expecting anything anymore entertaining than what we’ve been given since the get go.

RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)
I got a FaceTime call from Funimation's Kaidou, David Sobolov, today. Apparently he is a friend of a friend and she was like I know a guy who loves One Piece and she had him call me today. I think they were at a convention or something. A good time was had by all.

RE: Chapter 1062: Adventure in the Land of Science
Loved the way Zoro spoke to Vegapunk. For some reason it never really dawned on my that Zoro would have questions for Vegapunk, most likely in regards to Kuma. I mean it makes sense, especially after Franky explained the situation further once they got back together. Current One Piece kind of gave the feeling that might be over looked.
Or maybe it's not that I didn't think Kuma/Vegapunks motives wouldn't get explained but just that Zoro would specifically have questions about it.
Seeing Jinbe react to Bonnie's claim, the island and the holograms is nice. Gives of further confirmation that he isn't as wordly as he initially appeared. They way he reacted to Bonnie makes me wonder does he know anything about Kuma's situation? He seemed so surprised by the idea that Vegapunk could or maybe would turn a human into an emotionless weapon, you gotta wonder if he has any idea of Kuma's situation or that he might be related to Bonnie. Last chapter she didn't explicitly say anything about Kuma to the group did she?
Lucci has some sense. Assigned to assassinate the most important person on the planet. Aint that some ship.
Oh and Vegapunk saying he has interest in the Straw Hats gets my imagination running wild. Judge/Sanji, Kuma/Zoro, Franky/everything, Devil Fruits in general. It's time we figure it all out!

RE: Chapter 1119: EMET
@onemoment said in Chapter 1119: EMET:
Some thing I've noticed from this chapter:
-In all this haki discussion I think we're missing something from the cover story. Some kid hurt Yamato, a conqueror's haki user with just a rock. Clearly, this child must be a master haki user in will be a future powerhose in the future.
-The physics of Dawn Balloon makes no sense, and I admit it hurts the sequence.
I know you are joking but I know a few people brought this up a a few times before. So for them, not you, I think very much like any person in the story they can still feel bee stings and stumped toes. Despite being able to withstand massive amounts of damage with or without Haki they don't become naturally invulnerable.
Franky's front is made mostly of metal so he doesn't feel much pain from little things. He can stand there like it doesn't hurt but he said himself the bullets sting a little.
Top tiers aren't Clark Kent style Super Men in this story where it's as if they can't feel the day to day hassles of life. Big Mom was probably the closest to that.
As for the Dawn Balloon physics, my mind went straight to a Pool table or Billiards. That might explain it nicely.

RE: Chapter 1122: Time is Right
@kevo_koma Correct. I'm glad too. His winged angelness always interested me the most and he's definitely being saved for end game material.
He probably ha all kinds of connections and answers to Sky Lands, Lunarians, ancient kingdoms, etc.

Thanks! Feels like someday they will be available outside of the Japanese language officially. And when it happens I’m going to snap these up so fast!

RE: Chapter 1123: The Void Fortnight
The giants said it wasn’t hostile so they felt something. Somehow Joyboy stored the Haki with some sort of a targeting system. Rayleigh told Luffy it can be directed as to not get innocents and maybe this is the next step to that.
Store it like a bomb but when released it only affects those with a hostile feeling/energy towards the user.

RE: Chapter 1121: The Upheaval of the Era
@hideoushorrendous It’s That repetitiveness coupled with One Piece’s nature of new land/new rules that make it such a wonderful experience. For the most part anyway.
You might have a better idea of what should be but there is a general reason why stories are structured the way that they are. There are tried and true structures, formulas, tropes, etc.
And One Piece has been varied enough that a tyrant isn’t always suppressing the masses and their island needs liberation. It’s just when that does happen it generally feels great because it’s usually wrapped in a completely different package from before.

RE: Official Wano Thread
@access-timeco Oh!!! I certainly never thought of it from that angle! Also I didn’t realize that Lucci showed us a Zoan user doesn’t have to use an awakened form if such a form was already obtained.

RE: Official Wano Thread
Question about Kaido’s motives! So do we know why he wanted to die so much and was waiting around for Joy Boy?
I have this idea in my head that Oda deliberately showed us 2 Zoan awakenings with the clouds but nothing of the sort with Kaido because he wasn’t awakened.
Am I reading too much into it that Kaidou wanted one of those near death(or actual death) battles to awaken his fruit? I haven’t reread Wano yet and it just dawned on me I still don’t know exactly why he was so interested in Joy Boy or dying.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I’m predicting that Yamato will stumble across Kaidou on her journey. He’d be broken and still recovering but awakened. Luffy helped him accomplish his dream of “dying”.
