Oda drawing the SHs in the style of their actors is really great.
Bit surprised Alabasta is /not/ part of this season, which is interesting, but it also means that we're not gonna be cutting around Loguetown or Little Garden or something just to fit it within a 8 episode season....granted if they had more episodes i think it could work, so I'd rather the option that gives Alabasta more time.
I'm fine with them doing Alabasta as Season 3. Will they just stick to Alabasta or will they try to squeeze Jaya in there as well, I wonder?
Katey Sagal is an incredible alternative for Kureha. Completely forgot how fitting her facial structures are, let alone her attitude in some of the roles she's played.

Katey is a great choice for Kureha. I'm a fan of work over the years with both Married with Children and Futurama.
Seem like good choices.
But we still got two more days of casting. Assuming each day we'll have a couple of more actors who are we missing, besides Vivi and Robin? Igaram?
I'm not sure they would do Crocodile right away since he only actually shows up in Arabasta, but he does have a few lines in Little Garden. There's also Mr. 2 Bon Kurei.
And the Oda message also mentioned Chopper.
They could show an image of what he'll look like, and gauge the reaction of the public to avoid a Sonic movie repeat, but maybe it's too early for that.
And either way he still needs at least a voice actor.
@andre Although news on who is playing Chopper will be important, I think the bigger question mark here is HOW he would look like on screen and how they’ll do it. Hopefully they will also show us that at the same time as the casting news.
Segal's performance on LOST was one of my favorites, I bet she's really going to deliver a strong performance for Kureha.

Yeah, I was shocked to see this as well. At the risk of being insensitive, she's the closest thing to Kureha in real life. The casting is perfect in that sense.

They could end the 3rd season with the Merry getting blasted by the Knock Up Stream.

Given charithra chandran is heavily expected to be Vivi, I’d say Cobra’s casting is solid.
Personally, I dont see how a good season 2 doesnt end with Alabasta. It is the more appropriate climax for a season of tv. Drum is a personal story to Chopper while Albasta is one that allows the crew to come together to face the threat and Crocodile being a shichibukai allow him to have that grander aspect that contrast with what comes before. I also think it tells me there is an interest in telling the full story rather than drag it out until the interest dies out.
Also if my math is correct that means it will cover Laboon, Whiskey peak, little garden then drum. Whiskey peak is mostly action and little garden and Laboon were very short. I cant say im convinced by the idea they all need 2 episodes dedicated to them. That's not really a pacing that give me confidence.
Seeing how much they changed Syrup village, they can do all sorts of things with Whiskey Peak in the Live Action. Precisely because it has no (or a weak) story that the showrunners can give it their own twist. Don't get me wrong, Syrup Village in LA was still wasn't up my alley, but at least it tried to be something with character.
Okay Katey Segall as Kureha is a treat, they're really bringing in the starpower for this season.
I like Drum more than Alabasta arc. Neither are in my top 5, but I can take it either way. With Drum, you end with the 1st new Grand Line crew member, cure Nami, crazy Winter weather, the climb (my favorite part of the arc), Chopper's flashback is so cool.
Alabasta and Little Garden on it's own is a crazy season. Adding the Smoker chase, Laboon, and BW sprinkled here and there is way more than enough. Silly DF abilities, gimmicks, wholesome moments, varying settings.
I preferred it this way, but thought many of this would be skipped and combined for Alabasta.
I think it is odd that some are using what Oda did in the source material to challenge the Cobra casting. Nothing wrong with disliking it, but you can't use Oda against Oda. This isn't some team going against Oda's will. Oda is literally on the team. It seems illogical to keep posting screenshots of Google and wikia of what "Oda intended" when Oda is part of the process. Oda sounds really passionate in each message too.
If the casting wasn't enough drama, now they are starting boycotts as expected when I read that letter to the Emmys 3 days ago. Here we go smh
Long story, shot
A filmmaker that is Palestinian was nominated by the Emmys recently. There was a letter to the Emmys to rescind her nomination and it was signed by 150 people in the entertainment industry including Tomorrow Studio's CEO.
Fans are calling for a boycott of all the works/projects of those who signed the letter.
Alabasta is so tightly written its actually crazy. You got everything in Alabasta and it set the foundation for so many preceding arcs. I can go on an entire rave about why Alabasta stands at the peak but that's for another day.
There's a reason why Crocodile, after 2 whole decades, still ranks high up there in terms of Villains. And how Vivi is still loved and relevant.
I love that it got a season on its own.
Personally, the only one that comes close is W7/Enies but I would argue that Lucci is a significantly less effective villain than Croc.
All this is to say that I love both Vivi and Crocodile and they hold a dear place in my heart and I'll be abnormally sad if their LA counterparts don't deliver.
Supposedly Matt Owens did fight to not skip arcs instead of skipping arcs and ending on Alabasta. Which arcs are unknown…

Would like to see the video again after the season has aired, without all the blur just to see what they were wanting to keep as a surprise.
Also, it seemed to me like he said 2025 at the end, but that's to be expected really.
Joe is an amazing pick for Crocodile. He was awesome as Alcide on True Blood.
Joe Manganiello is cool, and he's a big nerd, so I'm betting is gonna be preparing a lot to bring the character to life. (i.e. training an evil laugh for 8 hours a day)
Haven't heard of Lera Abova but the for the first season the casting department nailed the Straw Hats so let's see her in a cowboy hat.
This all looks good. Casting aside, I like seeing the Twin Peaks Cape set. It's solid proof that we're not skipping arcs.
Pretty much, the only characters that need to be cast for Season 2 are Chopper, Bon Clay (He appears during the in-between arc between Little Garden and Drum), Ms. Goldenweek, and Igaram.

Imagine telling someone a large part of the fanbase would be feeling this way 3 years ago. It is surreal.
I wouldn't expect a trailer until a few months before the season is meant to premier, which could be as far away as December 2025, if not August 2026.
I'm not one really to go gaga over someone, but gosh darn is Lera Abova pretty.
