Could we be at the point that there's only so much time to put everything into the manga that crucial info about a character could be in movies as well and not just the manga, or is it really a case that crucial info will always be in the manga?

I wouldn’t get TOO excited. Well I would. But what I mean is with all people wanting the film rocks thing to be real, I think it’s easy to assume we’ll be following shanks as the protagonist or something of the sort, but I find that highly unlikely just for marketability reasons. I feel like we’ll probably follow Luffy, but Shanks will be heavily involved in some way.

If I recall correctly he said in the manga specifically, and Id guess he’d be way less likely to under estimate the time a movie with a 100% consistent production schedule and run time than your own manga you’re making week to week.

I think it will relate to Shanks in the same way that Z relates to the Admirals. (in other words, not quite canon; inventing a chapter from his pirating past to bring to light in the film which isn't directly related to the plot relevant parts of his story).

So, a Shanks film uh? It's basically improbable to do a film about a character without them meeting the protagonist. And doesn't matter how non-canonic this movie will be, there's no way showing Luffy and Shanks' meeting won't spoil the future meeting in the manga. I am gonna assume Oda, his staff, Jump and Toei are pretty sure Luffy and Shanks will meet before summer 2022.

Sure, maybe she's Shanks' sister we've never heard about or whatever, but they always that kind of crap in the movies, doesn't mean Shanks will actually be involved.

My main concern is with the manga's pacing, even if the next arc features Shanks that still means there is a distinct possibility the movie will reveal info that imho should be reserved for the manga first.

It'll probably be like the Laugh Tale thing and show some interesting info about Shanks that will be reconfirmed/expanded upon in the manga.

This seems dumb but I really douibt Oda would allow a pretty girl to be the main villain, because that would mean Luffy pummeling the pretty face.

Yeah, I agree it's going to be something in this vein where the story is about Shanks or someone associated with Shanks in the past without Luffy and Shanks actually meeting.

The only way I could see Oda allowing a Shanks and Luffy meeting in a movie is if is he plans to have him die in the manga before they could meet.

I would love it if the movie was actually entirely about Shanks, with the Straw Hats barely appearing! Cheating Jinbe of his first movie as part of the crew. And by LOVE I mean HATE the shit out of it.
