I’m only learning about this now, thats so incredibly disappointing but unfortunately not surprising.
I really wanted to be positive about the merger but we’ve only had awful decision after awful decision since then. I worry for the future.

Probably shouldn’t bother me, but mildly annoying to me everyone keeps raving abt a scene where kaido quickly says “mommy” and going “WOAH THEY SAID NANI IN AN ENGLISH DUB???”. Like I heard that at first too but use your brains.

Did you miss that it was uncut and unedited?

Tome was also recast I'm fairly certain. Dimple sounds rather unmistakably the same.
Not having a full cast list is unfortunately not an entirely new thing, although this is the first I'm hearing of it from CR specifically out of toei properties (I think a similar thing happened to DBS after toei took more control over production). Regardless it's utter bullshit. Credit your actors, give them reasonable hours and pay. At the very least have a CONVERSATION seeing how you could reach a compromise that could ultimately even benefit you in the long run. Genuinely disgusting the way they treat their staff, especially since the sony buyout and generally increasing popularity.
Instead, when they get backlash for it they hold back the cast list and try to pretend it never happened.

I do find it interesting she mentioned Michelle Rojas covered for her. Maybe she was just referring to other shows, but it seems to imply they didnt want to get even a few episodes behind while she was off. Or well, they may have been about out of episodes either way. Does this mean they’re recording new dialogue for the fishman island edit or the fan letter special? Movies maybe?
I don’t desperately need a simuldub but its weird theyre working as if they are.

For those worried, Emily posted about moving from twitter to bluesky a couple days ago following surgery on halloween. She’s fine.

I want for Emily to make it, I really like her she's really nice.
While brain surgery can obviously have many complications, the chances any would lead to death is pretty slim. It happens, but from what I can find only 2-3% die and 5-7% receive permanent damage. Additionally, a large amount of those are from people who have emergency surgery due to their brain aneurysm rupturing, around 50% of those cases die within a few months.
In short, regardless of the future of the dub I wouldn’t worry about her too much. She should be fine.

Emily is fine as far as I know. Brain surgery sounds scary but I don’t think it will be insane recovery time or anything. We know recording being behind isnt holding them back, worst case scenario they would probably just get another director. I know most of us would love to get closer or a simuldub but I think we’ve been eating pretty good all things considered and will continue to do so.

@Elektrik-Dynomite Unlikely, the episode count seemingly caps at 14 because thats the mosf that can fit on two DVDs.

Well dragon balls a bit different because they want to make it a big event but yeah, not counting on it.
Emily is seemingly implying they’re completely caught up recording wise though lol https://x.com/emilyjfajardo/status/1845486800732635299?s=46&t=Kq3IHPuSvKT2MXKx8HKScQ

Yeah, they did. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Woah yeah I can definitely hear it now but I totally didn't notice at first, so he's doing a good job. From his reply sounds like Duncan Branner just kinda retired from VA work, hope he's doing alright.

Oh, I just realized. It appears they’re trying to completely phase out the gold logo. They just edit the logo to remove the shonen jump text in the intro. The image in toeis tweet also uses that edited logo despite the gold text (there were normally two seperate gold and blue versions of the promo images previously for whatever reason). The only place it may continue to be used is on the home video box art but wouldn’t surprise me if not considering they finally dropped it from the show itself after all this time.
Anyways, finished the episodes. I hadn’t seen any full egghead episodes yet so it was nice. Intros great, and I’m really greatful for both finally having outros again and the new chopper trivia segments. I will happily take making more of your run time being easily skippable fluff to make the episode itself less agonizingly slow.
I enjoy all the new voices here, outside of Stella my favorite Vegapunk is probably Lillith. Each having their own voices helps them each stick out to me a lot more than in the manga. It is a shame we get so little of Stella himself here though, the clip they posted is literally from near the end of the last episode lol. Nevertheless all the performances are fun. Outside of the Vegapunks I didn’t think about it but theres actually a seperate kid voice for jimbei briefly which I think did a really good job sounding like Daniel I found it cute lol.
I understand the hope for a simuldub, and like I wouldn’t complain. But honestly for me I think these batches make for the best viewing experience. Weekly episodes are definitely better for seasonal stuff when otherwise you have to wait a year but with the dated year round model one piece has I rarely find singular episodes satisfying on their own. Each voyage covers roughly a volumes worth of content, theres guaranteed to be at least some tangible plot progression.
