Awesome chapter , Really nostalgic seeing scenes from the past and Zeff taking care of Sanji. Niji needs a beat down but based of his kick he seems pretty beastly. Ichiji seems the most level headed.
Chapter 839: "I Shall Never Forget The Debt That I Owe You"
-
-
Capone seems fairly high up on the chain. Relatively speaking.
Judging from the Jinbe/Aladine situation, you can have one of your subordinates tie the knot and you will still be the boss/have the upper hand.
-
what is that in the cover page? reference to another manga?

I wouldn't call him beastly. Sanji could have done that kick too, even more powerful. Their strenght lies in their technologic tricks, but physically Sanji is, without doubt, the strongest Vinsmoke.
-
A man has never cut off a woman's arm in One Piece. Doesn't mean Oda is opposed to it
-

Kochikame. It's been in Jump for decades, and the final chapter was this week's issue IIRC
-
Oda wasn't even two years old when Kochikame started running. That's just legendary
Hopefully Oda's not aiming to surpass its length…
-

Yeah its a reference to Kankichi Ryotsu : Police Box. Good series.
-
Yonji's leading Sanji into a trap.
It's going to be a 3 on 1 again, like their good old kiddy days. -
@Dr.:

I'd wait and see what all the other vinsmokes could do true Sanji didn't seem fazed by that kick but he managed to create a heavy gust of wind from. I don't recall Sanji having done that..yet.
-
_So the bird is a nazi thing. I was sure it looked familiar.
I like that Oda didn't ruin the moment by having Sanji go lovey-dovey about Cosette. HE is just someone standing up to the bullies that are his parents._
_Big Mom relations must run deep to get that Baratie info. I doubt you can get that other from the marines or someone that used to eat there.
I suppose Germa produce improved fodders._
-
Holy shit, Clones? Great chapter, can't wait for next week
-
So technically speaking if Sunkist were to marry big mom's daughter, wouldn't that put him higher up in the hierarchy than his father?
Not that would be a plotplot. But still seems a little poorly thought out by the father
Jimbei is still the leader despite Alladin being the married one. Hiearchy does not change due to the marriage, it's just about making sure both side are linked by blood.
-
@The:
I don't really understand why people think Reiju beat up Cosette to start a feud between Sanji and Niji. What would she gain from it, apart from getting a title of a manipulative woman which sounds pretty shallow. Plus, Sanji knows that if he tries to start a fight with his family now, Judge will order a headless Zeff in a box for him.
They aren't going to kill Zeff because Sanji got in a fight with Niji, that is just to force him to actually get married. The only reason Judge stopped Niji and Sanji was because they were going to have lunch with Big Mom and Pudding, and he didn't want Sanji all beaten and bloodied up before that and the wedding.
-
well im sorry if you can't see the evidence. and yonji saying it was niji make it an obvious red herring. oda is probably setting up a "fight" involving sanji and reiju when sanji will learn the truth.
not at all
Out of the top of my head:
Luffy Vs Alvida
Zoro Vs Ms. Monday
Luffy Vs Ms valentine/5
Luffy Vs Vivi
Crocodile to Robin
Spandam/spandine to Robin/Olivia
Luffy Vs Boa sister
And so on. -
Spandam/spandine to Robin/Olivia
The way Spandam treated Robin was disgusting I wanted to someone to beat the crap out of him.
-

Honestly CP9s Rankyaku technique looked much more dangerous than Niji's little gust of wind. Kaku severed the top off the Tower of Justice with his kick.
-
So their growing people matrix style to be nazis.
Alright.
Great chapter, really great. Sanji's family are full of dicks.
-
yes, oda never showed a man beating a beautiful woman face until that face get all blooded and deformed. that's my new point. but my main point remains the same, oda love doing twist like that and he has been making reiju as nice as possible to avoid suspicion about her. and we are soon going to revive that whole "sanji can't beat women"' if sanji face his sister. wait and see.
It seems like Oda is setting her up to be an ally. I really don't see the point of her being a secret bitch when it's completely normal for her and her family to be open about it. She was seen laughing at Sanji when he was a child so I suppose it's possible but what would she get out of purposely angering him?
-

True enough i suppose. Which just makes her family rule seem silly.
If she doesn't connect herself to the man who'll be in charge she hold no real sway. When i thought her family ties was about making extra efforts to secure the loyalty of her recruits by placing them with one of her own it sorta made sense. But when you can just throw away one of your subordinates or a family member you don't care about on it instead of taking the bullet yourself you undermine her entire organization. Kinda makes her (One of) the weakest emperor in a sense huh? I mean Shanks, WB, and BB all had/have crews with undying loyalty to them personally, while BM only holds hers through an evidently symbolic family network and fear.

First of all shut up and stop bringing up Oda beating women thing before because we've already proven you wrong. And yes that's clearly you're point because you keep bringing it up. Shut up about Reiju is being nice possible because she laughed at poor Sanji getting bullied and was the one who put his hands in this cuffs. Shut up about Sanji facing his sister because Nami or Carrot will probably beat her ass. Just shut up in general.
-
Best Germa chapter yet. Loved how it finally used Sanji's chivalrous cuisine ideals to contrast him apart from his barbaric siblings.
hopefully the Baratie will make a return later in the arc.

It's gone on way too long

This chapter makes me wonder, when this arc is all said and done, who is going to rule Germa. Sanji is not going to quit being a pirate, and none of his siblings would be real improvements over their father. Or will it be character we haven't seen yet. Hmmm.
Good chapter, overall. I can see why Big Mom wants Germa's technology.

Oda sure knows how to create the feeling of hate. Germa ain't even real and I want to kick all of their asses lol
-
The Vinsmokes are the worst type of scum, and when they fall I want Sanji to make them eat dirt. The way they treat everyone under them is appalling, and I think in the next chapter they will just keep revealing worse and worse stuff about them.
-

Will Germa even still exist at the end? As far as we know it's a kingdom inhabited mostly by soldiers with no civilians apart from the servants. If the Vinsmoke should be defeated i doubt there will be someone to rule at all. We still don't know why those soldiers obey them to the point of sacrificing themselves as "walls", maybe they're lobotomized and their brain is modified to follow every command. But i can't see any happy ending with an organization like that still standing.

The chamber liquid things is probably how they program them.

Sigh True true. XD

This was probably discussed to death but: What has Judge to win from this marriage? He is already a member of the worlds most powerful organization that rules half the globe and exchanges it for the protection of someone who has approximately 1/8 of it. Just for an island? There are hundreds of uninhabitated islands in the world, they could probably just seize one or buy one from the Tenryuubito, how hard can it be if they even gave Wapol his own?
-
Also protect Zeff at all cost as well, because we can't have Sanji losing his "real dad". And I am not calling Judge his dad, because he lost that right years ago.
-
Also the people who takes their royal title to such high degree are ready to get rid of it to fulfill their dream of taking back their kingdom :-)
No they aren't. They'd be cutting ties with the WG, that doesn't mean they wouldn't be monarchs.

They want to conquer the entire North Blue. He needs the help of BM, so I think there are stronger people and kings now.
-
What is exactly the meaning of Ryo's bounty? How much is his debt?
If you rotate the bounty poster, you can see the number "110596".
And Luffy is drawing Ryo-san's distinct unibrow, which can be read as "3".
http://mangastream.com/r/one_piece/839/3672/1"1105963"
"110" is an emergency phone number to call police in Japan.
"5963" (5"go"9"ku"6"rou"3"san") can be read as "ご苦労さん", which means "Thank you for your hard work!" in JapaneseSo Oda is probably saying, "Thank you for your hard work, policeman!"
(Ryo-san is a policeman.) -

The WG obviously wouldn't be cool with a member nation deciding to take over an entire Blue, which would also involve wiping out any other member nations that exist there in the process.
Just for an island?
What are you talking about? The Vinsmokes want to conquer the entire North Blue. That's not "an island", that's nearly 1/4 of the world lol.
Not to mention that all the framing of this so far is in the context of them **RE-**conquering it, like they believe in an ancestral right to owning the North Blue. It has symbolic historic meaning to them.
I have no idea how you got it in your head that they want "an island". -

It's not so much about being a ruler of any old island. It's more that someone took HIS property.
It's their ego and entitlement that's the main part of the equation.
-

I dunno how Judge thinks, but before, he was trying to conquer all of North Blue. I think it is his one dream. I guess WG prohibits him to attack anymore islands there and also forced him to surrender his territories. So, he was plotting to really betray WG in the future if he ever gets the chance to follow again this dream.
Dunno if this sits good among his children. For all I know, they are maybe undermining their father on this wedding thing. I mean, its not a very good image for royalties to be associated with piracy, and exchanging WG's confidence for being a subordinate of a yonkou is not probably a good idea.
-
Very dry behavior from Niji… getting upset like a baby from an insult from Sanji. Okay... They're supposed to be like royals but can fight for themselves, so I guess that justifies bratty behavior... Idk... Could have dispensed punishment to the cook without acting like every single bratty royal in the story... And bringing Sanji to a secret area of their base??? Why because Niji is apparently in the room? These two things disappointed me this chapter.
-
If Niji is in the "cloning room", I want to see a battle between him (and perhaps Yonji too) against Sanji. This would be a good chance for Sanji to kick Niji's ass.
-

Yonji was already put in place by Sanji earlier on, that's probably why he's eager to get Niji against Sanji.

Zeff is being dragged into this mess? Baratie arc part 2, go! I bet we'll hear about Don Krieg and Gin soon. The groundwork is already in place… Don Krieg is a fleet commander who believes in fighting strength through technology, similar to Germa 66. But Krieg's no genius - where did he get his gun-laden wootz steel armor, exploding battle spear, and MH5 poison gas? After Krieg's defeat, Gin was fatally poisoned, but we're led to believe we'd see him again. How does he survive?
Easy answer: they went crawling back to Germa 66, their weapons provider. Poison Pink could easily save Gin, not to mention they'd have plenty more MH5 antidote. I wouldn't be surprised to find that Don Krieg is a subordinate or customer of Germa - but I've been massively wrong before, and I will be again.
-
I bet neither sibling beat Cosette unconscious. That not cruel enough? I think she was just ordered to punch herself senseless, and when Sanji confront them, they can say they were being "Gentlemen" by no beating her themselves !

Wapol, the World Nobles, these guys, the whole bit is getting kinda old
At least Doflamingo had some perspective from being dirt poor and on the run, while also being charming and putting up an act, these guys just feel transparently douchy
I guess there could be more to them, but so far they're pretty dull. -
@@Kdom:
Well the Vinsmoke characters are written so that the reader dislike them. It is a bit caricatural for me. But well, Sanji acts like the real prince in the eye of the reader which is quite ironical.
Also the people who takes their royal title to such high degree are ready to get rid of it to fulfill their dream of taking back their kingdom :-)
Otherwise it was nice to see Zeff back, Germa underestimate him a little. I'm not sure it would be that easy to kill him. They could just send warships to shell the ship from a mile away

I guess there could be more to them, but so far they're pretty dull.Agreed, One Piece has a ton of reasons to hate pretty much any higher-ups. It gives more reason for Luffy to be a pirate, but it gets done a few times too many. And the biggest/worst ones tend to not even have any comedic character quirks, much less anything else other than a "born bad and need to be put down" feel to them.
-
This chapter somehow gave me fullmetal alchemist- vibes, lol.
-
But not, that I can recall, to the point it left an otherwise innocent woman beaten and bloody like Cosette
But niji is a scumbag anyways. Oda likely wont show it but we have already seen the results
-
Zeff is being dragged into this mess? Baratie arc part 2, go! I bet we'll hear about Don Krieg and Gin soon.
Gin and Don Krieg attacked the Baratie once, how does that connect them to it beyond that incident?
This is like Luffy being surprised that Bellamy was on Dressrosa, like he lived on Jaya or something.Don Krieg is a fleet commander who believes in fighting strength through technology, similar to Germa 66. But Krieg's no genius - where did he get his gun-laden wootz steel armor, exploding battle spear, and MH5 poison gas?
Same place any random villain in the series has gotten their technology and weapons. The world itself is filled with such things obtained through countless possible means. Hell we already know an extensive black market exists.
Nothing Krieg had was super high level technology like the Germas have, it was mostly just really sneaky traps (steel armor isn't even a gizmo or anything lol). After Krieg's defeat, Gin was fatally poisoned, but we're led to believe we'd see him again. How does he survive?
He survives because One Piece.
Easy answer: they went crawling back to Germa 66,
They were never connected to Germa 66, and we have absolutely zero reason to assume they would be connected to Germa 66.
