?????: Kaido & Big Mom
Quick parting thoughts - overall, thought Wano was a solid arc. Which in this context has an air of slight disappointment given all that it was built up to be. Some plot elements were clearly rushed/scrapped, but I thought the main meat of it - namely, the Kaidou fight - ended up satisfying me. I feel like a lot of specific events and interactions in the later chapters ended up being drowned out by relentless fretting over Zoro/Yonko powerwanking (maybe I'm just new to the scene, but it felt like all a ton of people cared about was powerscaling), keeping checklists over the most minute details (seriously people, Oda literally said in the SBS that Zoro's lineage wouldn't be relevant to the main story) and some heavy obsessions over when the series is gonna end and interviews that Oda/his editors gave in the mid-2010s. I think when people go back and reread Act 3 without all that noise, more elements of its story will be better appreciated.
Sad we missed out on what would've assuredly been glorious salt over the last 10-20 chapters, but with all the issues with the old site it was time for a hard reset and I'm glad this is starting fresh! A big thanks to everyone who put in the work to rebuild this site.
In light of 1044's revelations:
There was a Devil Fruit that was stolen from an enemy ship by a powerful pirate crew
This fruit appeared very early on in the series
The fruit was consumed by accident due in part to Shanks
The consumer of this fruit was a major leader in the biggest world event of the last two years.
Buggy the Star Clown…fate is knocking at your door.
I don't doubt that this will take Big Mom out of the picture for the rest of the climax, but the circumstances are still rather interesting. Seems like she'll be falling down all the way to the mainland, and once she lands and gets knocked out for a bit who knows where she could go from here. I certainly feel that there's too much unfinished business regarding Big Mom to have her down for good. Or maybe the fall causes her to become Olin permanently which would simultaneously be the best and worst things for her character.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Wait so what did making the sword longer do? Is the damage proportional to the damage dealt? Does size matter? Or is he connecting it to something to draw on it's power? I mean Laws power were always pure bullshit but this seemed to make even less sense than usual
as i said above i'm pretty sure it's to send mama plummeting off Onigashima
Man the theories are going wild with this one and I'm pretty sure a lot of people are going to be disappointed. I highly doubt this film will be canon and there's no way Luffy and Shanks will reunite, that is something which simply cannot happen in a movie of all things.
Still a lot to speculate about though. This new female character, my train of thought is leaning toward: either Shanks inspired her in the same way he did to Luffy…or she has some sort of dirt on him and is hellbent on revenge and Luffy has to stop her (if that is the case, said dirt will likely wind up being meaningless given movies have no effect on the plot)
I have been mulling over a new Survivor game for about a year now, and I figured why not take the plunge and see if this can work out.
If you are not familiar with the concept of Survivor, the game is based off of the TV show of the same name in which the players are split into two tribes and compete against each for rewards as well as immunity. After these competitions, the losing tribe votes off one of their own. The game continues under this format, with various twists and turns along the way, until the "Sole Survivor" is crowned. A more in depth explanation of the format and rules can be found here.
A key aspect of these games to enhance competitive balance as well as entertainment is that it is played on a separate forum site under the alias of One Piece characters. If you have played Survivor before, you may remember that our previous host, ZetaBoards, is now gone. However, I have found a different board hosting service which has many of the same features and should allow the game to be played the same way it was before.
Timeframe: The game will start whenever we have enough players! Once the game does commence, it will run for about 45 days, although only a select few players last for all 45. There may also be occasional breaks, so expect it to last about two months overall.
Time Commitment: I will be fashioning this game so that the required time commitment for competitions is only an hour at most, and offering the flexibility of completing them on your own schedule. There will be a few exceptions to this, particularly later on in the game. However, keep in mind that the game by design gives a great advantage to players who are consistently active. Additionally, several of the competitions are team-based ones which require some or all of your tribe to be online at or around the same time, so flexibility on your end may be necessary at times.
This game will need 16 players to be played, though I may be able to run it with slightly fewer. To sign up, simply express your intention to play on this thread or PM me about it. I will share more details regarding the new board and the roleplay aspect should this gain sufficient traction. If you have any further questions, simply ask them in this thread and I'll do my best to answer. If you have the time, Survivor is a lot of fun and will generate countless memories and memes so I highly recommend you sign up!
