@kouch_lee:
Silly Daz, how many years reading shonen manga all for what? I'll solve this in a minute.
Someone: "But, Fujitora, there could've been thousands of casualties if your gamble failed! You put all your faith in a lowly pirate!"
Fujitora: "No, I gauged Strawhat's heart early on. . .he had the heart of the man that will become the Pirate King. I was sure I was gambling on the right man. And my gambles (zoom in of his face) never fail". End of the chapter. One Piece is gonna be on a break next week.
"Wow, a marine admiral is kneeling! What a powerful sight…wait, did he just admit that he deliberately half-assed his efforts, and put all our lives at stake?"
"Yeah, it sounded that w- oh look, a report from the Dressrosa hospital. Apperantly, the nation hasn't suffered a single casualty today! Fancy that"
"oh well, no harm done then"
"Actually, my mom died"
"then go have an adventure, kid"
I mostly jest; the marines kneeeling is a powerful image, and sabotaging the WG by doing a pre-damage control broadcast is interesting. Also, Its just neat that Maynard gets something to do again.
My beef is just that Fujitoras appearantly deeply callous actions (as far as civilian casualties are concerned) doesn't really gel with Fujitoras characterization; Oda has framed him as a Good Guy who cares about people, now going so far as to have no one call him out on his refusal to fight Doflamingo.

@G_soildier:
he did do things. Manga should'nt have to highlight ever detail. Besides was he needed? He seems to know things that are about to happen. He calling for medics, changing co ordinates to dressorosa from greenbit, him telling joker luffy would cause massive destruction. He blatantly told sabo he is going to gamble on it. At the end he personally taking out joker and co was not neccessary, and long term would only jeopordized his goal as an admiral.
You are making Fujitora out to be even more ridiculously omniscient as Kouch_Lee, and he was doing it as a joke. Fujitora had no way of knowing Luffy would succeed with absolute certainty. Fujitora, being portrayed as the strongest guy on the island, could have contributed to taking down Doflamingo quicker, had he applied himself. He chose not to, and by the time the Birdcage is seconds away from shredding the entire population, its too late for him to do anything. Had Luffy lost, Fujitoras gamble would have doomed the entire population. From the perspective of everyone on Dressrosa, I don't think people would cut him much slack.
And yes, the guy has been portrayed as a gambler, obviously. But he has also been presented as a caring, insightful, good-guy marine we are supposed to sympathize with.
