I think Yamato rushing to get to the explosives which is not something we as an audience deem an important task, while we can sneakily see some Heart Pirates that shouldn't be on Onigashima at the moment introduces us to the actual point of this story beat: Caribou, who along with the Heart Pirates snatched a ride on Momo, absorbing said explosives in his bottomless swamp, making himself a threat to all factions.

I think the fact that the higher ups of the Beast Pirates all actually care for Kaido in some capacity despite them always ragging on about how pirates just betray each other will be a big factor to the ending of their story. I could see Kaido just about to get his wish for an epic death granted, when the Tobiroppo and All-Stars butt in and save him last minute.

Just came around to watching the episode and man, that slapped even more than I expected.

Underappreciated bits btw were the first appearances of Hamlet, Fourtricks, Mizerka and Briscola (could have put Poker in there too), as well as Chome offering Fukurokuju some sake who refuses. His anime scenes make me wonder even more what's up with him and his loyalty to Orochi.
