I wonder if the reason Garling isn't wearing one of the bubbles on his head is because it doesn't fit around his hair.

RE: Chapter 1062: Adventure in the Land of Science
"miracle fruit, (Synsepalum dulcificum), also called miracle berry, evergreen shrub of the family Sapotaceae, grown for its mild fruits that make subsequently eaten sour foods taste sweet. The miracle fruit plant is native to tropical West Africa, where it is used locally to sweeten palm wine and other beverages."
That's interesting, I didn't know there were foods that could completely change the flavor of other food and beverages!

I love how Akainu completely ignored everything the Celestial Dragons were saying to him.

Anyone else never heard of Don Quixote before getting into One Piece?
Donquixote Doflamingo is named after Don Quixote, which is a novel with a main character of the same name.
I've never met a One Piece consumer aside from myself who had no idea what Don Quixote was. The first time I saw Doflamingo's name, I thought it was something really random Oda made up. I didn't pronounce it right either. I pronounced it "don quicks oat". But everyone I've heard pronounce it has done so correctly.
Is Don Quixote really that known, and if so, how did I go so long without knowing about it? Is this one of those stereotypical assigned high school books that we never read in my classes, like The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Catcher in the Rye? Or is it more of a pop culture thing like Star Wars? And does anyone else here only know about Don Quixote because of One Piece?

RE: What will Cross Guild do next?
They'll show someone why you shouldn't Cross the Guild.
On a serious note, I think it'd be cool if by the time Buggy is actually put in a situation where he needs to fight, he has the ability to do so by that point. With him defying Mihawk and Crocodile to make the announcement that they're going for One Piece, he's probably more motivated to make moves and become stronger. And if he trains with those two powerhouses behind closed doors, he'll probably level up fast.

Did sabo fuck up burgess's face or why he wears that mask on half of his face.
Hasn't Burgess always worn a mask? He's based on a luchador wrestler and they wear those kind of masks.

RE: Anyone else never heard of Don Quixote before getting into One Piece?
Based on the information in the posts here, it's extremely weird how I would've gone my entire life so far without hearing anything about Don Quixote if it weren't for One Piece. I genuinely have no idea how I'd gone for so long without hearing of it considering how famous it is.

RE: Volume 107 Prediction/Discussion
It's really interesting how Oda has such a great memory for random background details from hundreds of chapters ago, but doesn't realize when he hasn't named fruits before. This is at least the third time he responded in an SBS that he was surprised he hadn't named a fruit in the manga, I also remember it with Kid and Akainu.

RE: American Politics: A Brand New Day
@Robby said in American Politics: A Brand New Day:
I think what they keep forgetting is that people vote on feeling, not policy. People aren’t smart.
You tell them 30,000 times that their kids are going to get their genders changed in school and they “believe” it in the sense that it tracks with something they already feel, that trans people are bad and they’re going to hurt you in some way. You can’t answer that claim by snickering and saying “come on! No one is changing your kids genders in school.” You have to play an ad about how trans people are people and you love them 30,000 times. Because you have to change their hearts about trans people so that ad is defanged.
We hear “they’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats” and we say “what is the matter with you!” But the people who believe it believe it in their bones. And if they can vote in secret to not be seen as dumb or racist or transphobic or misogynist? Or if they guy in charge gives them permission to be terrible? Well, here we are.
This is interesting and explains a sort of shift I've seen in how issues are discussed over the years. I used to see people discuss the logical arguments for or against a position more often.
You used an example of trans people, I saw that topic brought up less back then but to use gay people as a similar topic, I used to see people going back and forth on whether or not being gay is a choice; about how that Bible passage might've been about prostitutes, adultery, pedophilia, or any other number of things; whether marriage is inherently a religious ceremony; the broader topic of separation of church and state, etc. Somewhere in the 2010s I mostly stopped seeing that. The arguments became simpler like "love is love" or "it's a sin". It's the same with a lot of other topics.
I always wondered why that was, because I figured that the emotional arguments wouldn't work until you got through to someone logically. Ex: Being gay isn't a choice, and being trans isn't a mental illness, but even if they were, that doesn't change anything because they still deserve respect and human rights regardless. But my mindset was that someone who's against the LGBTQIA+ community wouldn't support them as long as they had those false beliefs. Afterwards if they changed their mind you could be like "Even if what you believed was true, wouldn't it still be bad to treat them like garbage, take away their rights, or commit violence against them?" And then they could have a moment of self-reflection and be like "Yeah you're right, that was pretty horrible to think that way " But I didn't think that would work often until you got through to them with the logic first. Seeing the political climate of recent years and with the points you made in your posts, I think I had it backwards. Now I'm considering that maybe you have to connect the emotional points first and then later they can look at the logic and be able to see how it makes sense.

Does the site not show up in Google results anymore?
When I google "Arlong Park Forums", the results are usually people talking about it on other sites instead of the site itself. Once in a while it shows up if I go to the "Forums" google tab, but not always.

What does the phrase "checkered fate" used by one of the Elders in this chapter mean? I googled it and all the results were One Piece theories.

RE: Chapter 1085: The Death of Nefeltari Cobra
I've seen some people speculate about being able to get the D. from someone else instead of it being just hereditary based on the flashback in this chapter where Ace says it to Sabo, and maybe I'm reading it wrong but it seems to me like Ace was just joking?

Anyone know how Death Note is so high despite the show being over for more than a decade?
Death Note had more than the original anime/manga. There have been a few stories after, though I don't remember if they're anime, manga, movie, or something else. Some details of the newer ones I remember include Near being grown up, a Death Note being sold, the Shinigami sort of making up rules on the fly about Death Note usage that they didn't like, and someone using the Death Note to help terminally ill patients die.
