Given that Diamante is pretty much playing with a Foxy deck here i wouldn't be that bothered if he outmanuevered Burgess.
Like in this specific situation, with these advantages, Diamante is really sitting on the strongest individual hand.

So technically speaking, shouldn't Van Auger, assuming that he now knows how to use ambition of course, be able to imbue his bullets with it and shot down logia users?
probably..since we have seen beckman threatening kizaru with a gun/rifle
also,even if not cannon for now,in the Z movie there are kairoseki bullets,and they worked against luffy@RobZilla:
Pretty much, yeah.
Of course the strength of the people in the NW seems to be way beyond having bullets bother them.
I mean Law himself just got shot multiple times point blank and doesn't really seem in that bad a condition for it.
actually,even in the real world humans are more of a "bullet sponge" than people think..the problems comes afterwards,since you still have to be treated properly and rehab it's difficult and painful,but a man can sustain multiple gunshots and still live to tell the tale.

True, but not the way Doffy shot Law.
Without a vast amount of luck, in the real world you'd most certainly be dead.
I really don't like Diamante's powers… I just can't see a flag ever being strong enough to hold shape to use as an attack. I think it's a cool idea but not for a high-tier fighter, at best a sneaky assassin who can surprise his opponents (like a bounty hunter affecting an opponent's body).

The things he's using aren't actually flags though.
I think its great that we for once get to see a top tier fighter who has not "coincidently" eaten a high-tier DF.
The things he's using aren't actually flags though.
Very true. For me personally, I just think they should go weak when turned in to a flag and under the effect of the power. Ah well. Same thing could be said for Luffy in the end right? :)

Exactly.
It's about finding ways to apply your DF that makes you truly powerful, not just having one.
That's gonna make him look weaker than Vergo, and that's exactly what some people around here don't want to see.
Wait, what?
So if a character doesn't go "SMASH SMASH SMASH" when they fight, they're somehow weaker than Vergo?
never understood the vergo "level" hype , luffy is about to kick his boss and some ppl still think that he would lose to vergo
bla bla bla.. i think he not sabo… i'm sure he mr.2 (bon chan) the scar right under his left eye maybe from magellan in impel down arc.. we all already know mr.2 maybe not 100% die.. like sabo story attacked by tenryuubito.. the story/spoiler from you all so annoying

Too late, tOo little and so wrong. We know that Bentham is in ID 5.5, we know that this guy already has presented information and items that only Sabo would know.

Rayleigh, by his own words, only trained him in the basics of all the three forms.
He hasn't mastered anything yet, that is what he'll be doing as we go along in the story.
That and further improving his fighting abilities, like he's done with every arc.
You tell 'em Wolf!

Alright let me walk you through this.
A guy walks up to Luffy. So Luffy sees his face.
The guys is Luffy's height, so not Mr. 2.
Luffy has this reaction, which for instance he didn't have when he met Mr.2 again last time.
Koala (now a revolutionary) is talking to the guy, who is also a revolutionary.
The person is associated with Ace, and see those cups at the bottom? That's a ritual that Ace, Luffy, and Sabo did together. That no one else knew about.

You forgot that our 'mystery man' evidently fights with a piece of metal piping.
and the point that Luffy doesn't consider Mr. 2 dead but imprisoned.
@Panda:
You forgot that our 'mystery man' evidently fights with a piece of metal piping.
Yeah, and Mr.2 was already seen in Impel down in a cover story.
@Panda:
You forgot that our 'mystery man' evidently fights with a piece of metal piping.
Not needed, I already told him that a few pages ago.

Yeah, and the conclusion that he is actually Sabot XD
Complete shot in the dark but what if Kanjuro's friend after being released is the one to take down Trebol ? :ninja:

You wasted to much time on this troll
Not overestimating Burgess myself, but Blackbeard was 100% sure that Burgess would take Mera Mera.
This has to say something.
Not really. Doflamingo also seems to be 100% sure about Diamante beating Luffy, same with Diamante as he watches the fight.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Da:
I think it does not really mean anything. It just means that BB trusts his subordinate, simple and logical as that . It's the same as how DD is sure that Diamente will win the tournament. Now, if Burgess is to hijack the tournament and break the rules, I don't think it is gonna be easy now that the revolutionaries, Sabo and Koala, are around.
Sorry didn't read it, you beat me to it!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
lol if your naive enough to believe that Luffy would have had an easy time against Dimante, and even if he did (which he wouldn't) Jesus Burgess would have kicked his ass in two seconds, ever wonder why Oda had Luffy switched out with Sabo, the guy who we can assume stayed ace's equal because of the scene Oda specifically put showing them having the same amount of wins and Luffy having zero (not that Luffy won't surpass him eventually)
Even Sabo himself has made note of Jesus Burgess as a tough opponent
and also you don't seem to comprehend what an advantage it is to control the very ground your opponents walk on, and bend it and shape it to your will, and all that surrounds them is water (and encase you didn't remember Luffy has a devil Fruit… which doesn't work well with water) Dimante is not going to be easy at all, Luffy a guy who just goes in and hits stuff would probably find himself in a lot of trouble against dimante, who has more a thinking mans DF
I have no doubt that if the two of them fought it out in a place not made to Dimante's advantage, that Luffy would win, but it would still be a tough match, idk why people are looking down on these executive officers who have been extremely built up to be overbearingly tough
Vergo was a beast who only lost because he underestimated what law was capable of doing, the fight would go extremely differently if they fought again
Dimante is going up against two endgame level players, Sabo and Jesus Burgess, and he's not gonna get K.O'd quickly after this much build up…. Basically he's a tough mother fucker
Pica will probably give Zoro his first all out fight of the new world
and Trebol has to be pretty highly prized when you have all these tough guys and Doflamingo chooses him to guard his most valuable asset
and let's not forget, law himself is supposed to be an executive officer, Law one of Luffy's biggest rivals is the same rank as these guys
that alone should show you how tough these guys are and how ridiculously powerful Doflamingo must be to be their boss and how frighteningly terrifying Kaidou must be to scary Dofla that bad
True. Luffy also a weakling who doesn't have a win against Crocodile, Moria, Lucci, and just about major fight he's had excluding Arlong simply because they underestimated him. On top of Law also underestimating Vergo since he was certain he would take him out after he got his heart back as he was mocking DD and Vergo and then outdoing him in speed. It's really hilarious watching hypocrisy in all kinds of side characters and then comparing it to Strawhats, how people perceive two different outcomes when in most cases it's the same.
I wonder how many experts in here talk about real life fights ending one way only because someone underestimated the opponent.
@krule274:
You're being especially nice today.
I'm giving them the benefit of the linguistic doubt.
This would be a good reply if I didnt accept rebeccas victory but I do. I like becky but acknowledging that she won due special circumstances and that shes out of her league compared to everybody else in the finals wont hurt your credibility. Those above scenarios are all ridiculous what if the sky was green what if we inhaled carbon dioxide and exhaled oxygen in block d on the other hand we know rebecca wouldve been destroyed if hakuba didnt pass out unless you wanna debate that just for the sake arguing and try to convince me that she wouldbe defeated hakuba than no one who is unbiased will take you seriously.
.
Actually we don´t know. We could also see it the other way around. Hakuba/Cavendish didn´t win because his ability as hakuba didn´t last enough to attack after the first assault. In other words his ability wasn´t strong enough. But as you said before its all a big IF and we'll never know what would happen. For now lets just accept Beckys victory
I'm very confident that Jesus Burgess would kick the shit out of Luffy
You don't say!
and honestly as dumb as you find that, I find it dumb when people assume he won't be a total fucking beast, seeing as how he's the first subordinate of the final villain of the entire series!!! and is likely endgame level material for Sanji or Jinbei (I originally thought he'd fight Franky but I doubt Franky will ever be able to take on the first subordinate of Yonkou level crews, who've been shown to give admirals a scare) and for narrative purposes has to be built up here to build hype for the final fight so obviously can't lose to bad even to sabo who's likely leagues beyond Luffy (for right now)
Didn't know that first ship = first subordinate. No one said that Jesus wasn't a beast but Jesus cannot defeat Luffy at this point in time, If he is able to defeat Luffy at this point in time, I really wonder when will Luffy reach Blackbeards level assuming that Blackbeard is way stronger than Jesus of course and now I wonder how the heck you didn't see it the other way around.
and I can't stand when people try to defend him not being as strong as Luffy with the whole, Luffy got trained but the right hand of the pirate king blah blah and Burgess couldn't even phase ace then how could he now blah blah power level talk power level talk
Never done it and don't care. Luffy has to be stronger than Jesus, hell Luffy and Blackbeard were equals in Impel Down, Luffy would have lose that fight but Oda planted the message, I wonder how many of you got it.
but hey, if sabo kicks the shit out of him I'll concede to it being stupid, but if it goes how I'm expecting, with Burgess giving sabo and diamante a run for their money and getting a ring knock out and not actually getting K.O'd with a few comments on how ridiculously strong he is then I'll stand by my statement that Luffy wouldn't have lasted long
Jesus giving Sabo and Diamante a run for their money, gosh you sound a lot like this IDoflamingo dude right now, this whole my fav character is x level and he will beat everyone and anyone who stands in his way. Well at least we now know who will keep Fujitora busy and who knows he might bring him to his knees as well

You made it looks like this an2mlm dude following OP story from drama cd or novel…
That's gonna make him look weaker than Vergo, and that's exactly what some people around here don't want to see.
I'm sure violas ability will come in handy finding a weakness on pica. I'm surprised she hadn't already considering she planned on taking down dofla anyway I'd figure she would have everybodies weakness figured out
@Panda:
You forgot that our 'mystery man' evidently fights with a piece of metal piping.
Also the lack of pirouette while dodging the fighting fish.
Complete shot in the dark but what if Kanjuro's friend after being released is the one to take down Trebol ? :ninja:
No cavendish will be the one that fights trebol, that's why he lost, that's why he is been taken to the doctors.

you dont need to put yourself through this the guy is obviously trolling
sabos wearing the exact same clothes as his first appearance for godsake
never understood the vergo "level" hype , luffy is about to kick his boss and some ppl still think that he would lose to vergo
that's vergo-san to you
luffy would have a harder time with him though. it wouldn't be an easy fight
Oh! Cavendish fighting Trebol is an interesting idea. He would be in position to do so, and since he's a somnambulist, he might take Trebol unaware and prevent Sugar from quick transforming him… would fit with the rough power level we're establishing for the rest of Doflamingo's elite. Vergo fought with Sanji, Smoke and Law before he was taken down. Diamante will be fighting at least two people that the fanbase consider proper badasses. Pica is immediately in the path of Luffy and Zoro with Viola as back up.
Cavendish while awake was able to at least put enough pressure on Luffy to force him to take him at least a bit seriously. He was also able to hold off Chin Jao before that. Cavendish as uhh... Hakuba might be a good addition to the fight against Trebol.
Also, how great would it be if Diamante were taken care of off screen because he underestimated his opponents?
Lol, I love that convoluted explanations of how this guy somehow ISN'T Sabo is the new convoluted explanation for why some other guy IS.
Anyway, I don't think Pica being able to hold off Luffy and Zoro due to some crazy power they have to figure out makes anyone look bad. It's One Piece and there aren't clear cut levels.

that was quite a struggle….

Yes, if Pica isn't the type of charachter who has an hability that gives him incredible skills on combat and insead of it, his hability is something similar to Djola's hability then Vergo already figured out how to surpass his hability and punch him in the face.

Sabo mentioned Jesus Burgess just before the final started. I don't know if you see the message there but Sabo is kind of not liking the fact he has to fight him. What does that tell you?

It doesn't tell us anything. Maybe he hates the BB Pirates just like the rest of the world.

i got the exact opposite impression i thought sabo was pissed and wanted to fight burgess because the blackbeards captured ace

Battles in One Piece aren't solely defined by how hard you can punch. Deal with it.
Why do people have trouble remembering Hakuba's name
I just imagined that if Chopper were around, he will be a good match up for Lao G. Kung fu point vs Kung fu master. That will be awesome.
@Da:
I just imagined that if Chopper were around, he will be a good match up for Lao G. Kung fu point vs Kung fu master. That will be awesome.
You and me both. I hope Chopper does something.
Kind of sad that Nami, Brook and Chopper never got to explore Dressrosa.

Apart from Burgess being strong, obviously, I think the fact that he is up against a Yonkou commander could cause him a lot more trouble than the actual fight. Sabo is no ordinary pirate after all, he is part of the revolutionary army and whatever he does might have negative consequences for the organisation and their goals. I doubt Dragon can afford to piss off a Yonkou, at least not for petty reasons.

That is a strange line of thought, at the end of it all, if Burgess/BB is pissed at anyone it will be Luffy. Even if Lucy cover is blown, they have no idea who he is. Sabo mental note was more along the side of so that is the crew that turned Ace in.
