Oh hells no. Too old to be reading children's comic books and collecting toys. :ninja:

Oh hells no. Too old to be reading children's comic books and collecting toys. :ninja:
So you are 14? :ninja:
The result is what you would expect from a Bulletin Board based group of fans. I think the result would be a few years younger if you were to take the same poll in a Facebook fangroup like the One Piece Podcast one. And probably a lot older in a newsgroup too. I think it's the spoiler translations that keep this place alive and kicking. AP has kind of a monopoly on first English spoilers. I'm 24 btw.
The fact that NHK actually DID a survey of One Piece's demographic says to me that this series is way more popular in Japan than I had expected. Seeing as how almost every new volume breaks sales records over there, it shouldn't be that surprising, but I wouldn't have thought that they would do that. But all the more reason to love this series, simply a standard that goes above and beyond for what manga-ka should aim for when they are creating new manga series. Oda can definitely be placed among the ranks of artists such as his idol Toriyama when it comes to creating a great series. And I'm 27. In the majority, what do you know.
This poll isn't public… there's no fun in that :ninja:
I'm 21. I thought I was part of the majority when I joined (was 16 back then), and now part of the minority, because frankly, One Piece is a (however, unusually good) kids' comic and a bit of a guilty pleasure - but seems it's the exact opposite.
24. Fan since RTL 2 started to show One Piece in the german television ~10 years ago
Ah, a new poll.
So it is the 19-23 years group then, but only for a few months xD
-sigh- in a few months I'll be 30, might as well vote accordingly n start accepting it
I am 17, almost 18.
I thought people under 18 were the outrageous majority until now but it seems I was wrong…
I began One piece like 5 years ago when I was 12 so I couldn't think that much people were older than 18
24. Fan since RTL 2 started to show One Piece in the german television ~10 years ago
Can't believe it's been such a long time :o
I had seen a little OP in raw japanese at my anime meetings, but didn't sstart reading it until American Jump started coming out (So late 2002)… and at the time unaware of scanlations, got bootleg anime dvds and caught up to the anime had gotten to Drum, but after Chopper had already become a merchandiising icon. I then got the anime dvds every couple months for a couple of years, up till mid skypeia. Then (thanks to Naruto, sigh) I discovered scanlations, and caught up mid Water 7... piror to chapter 400, somewhere around the sea train and Gear 2. (So sometime in 2006) Ten I found this place and lurked for a while and joined as a member in early 2007 and have been living here since.
So, about 6 years as an active fan, but 11 years following it.
So I have very nearly been all 4 main ranges in the poll, and I suspect I'll be around till the series end well into my my 40's.
19-23 and 24-29 both are 38.14%
Heh, doesn't surprise me that the majority of voters are in the 19-23 and 24-29 ranges…..few months, and I would've made the cut-off (still 18)
Well, I started reading OP regularly in… 2001, IIRC: 12 years ago. I have a feel that I'll hit 20 years of continuous reading, before OP will end. When I think about it... it's quite ominous: when I started reading it, the euro wasn't around (not in a "material" form, at least) and I bought the first volumes with a currency that doesn't exist anymore.

I just googled it and you are right. Scary how time flies.

Thirty something thirty something!!!! kids, rent, work and more work, and some one piece in the free time …. You are young man, pretty much energy give and time to use it ... :-)

Oh hells no. Too old to be reading children's comic books and collecting toys. :ninja:
Come on, fill the poll!!! I know you're in my group, I can smell it… Side note: I should chose a quote taken from a comic for my grave. Because I plan to read comics this whole life...
I started reading One Piece in my junior or senior year of high school and I've been a fan ever since.
I can still remember reading those shitty quality scans on that MSN site.
If you can't remember reading the MSN sites you aren't on the level.
I'm 24. I discovered the manga after having suffered through post-Alabasta goat-man fillers for a couple of weeks. That was in 2005, I think, hard to tell because Kaizoku Fansubs was always months behind. I joined this place some time after that and have continued not posting regularly since.
old geezerover here. Not at all in the majority. Turned 30 this year. Feeling 18. Started reading One Piece when I was in college so it's been 11 years now.I kept roaming the internet to find descent site with quality scanlations, which was hard and than stumbled upon onepiecehq which was always down and than found this here site which was better in so many ways through a friend who actually used this account in the passed :D
Although my active time at AP has come to an end thanks to responsabilities and a life (darn them) I still love this site…
I started reading One Piece after I finished Naruto. Finally caught up during the final Luffy vs. Lucci fight (it was far enough in that people were complaining about the length).
I can still remember reading those shitty quality scans on that MSN site.
One Piece Manga V2, right?
One Piece Manga V2, right?
That'd be the one.
Where'd that Zebra chapter come from again? Was that a fan thing?
I got into One Piece late 2006. I remember people in a forum I used to frequent talking about the Enies Lobby fights in its One Piece thread since the anime was just getting to Sanji vs. Jyabura back then.
That'd be the one.
Where'd that Zebra chapter come from again? Was that a fan thing?
I'd need a refresher before I could say anything. The only thing that comes to mind is that sprite comic that was on Naruto Manga Returns.
I am 22 and I love this children comic book.

I just googled it and you are right. Scary how time flies.
Wow. To think it has been 10 years since I heard that memorable key intro of the German opening for the first time.
Although it took me some time to discover the manga. The first chapter I remember reading was the 441, actually, its spoilers, here, on Arlong Park, long before I have made an account, and it sure confused me a bit, because all of One Piece I have known by that point ended with Alabasta arc. On the same day I downloaded the whole manga available at the time, all 1.5 GB, which took me a whole day with my internet speed back then, and the next week became the most magical experience of my life as a reader.
Man I want to reread One Piece again. When is summer coming.
@RobbyBevard:
The first one wasn't. This one is.
Well, I'm late to the party.
@Monkey:

Oh man, I had totally erased that from my memory. The MSN sites and forum group were on the same level. Does it even still exist!!?
I'm 26. I remember catching up with the manga when it was at the beginning of Water 7 (the chapter ending with the introduction of the Galley-la Company). I think I was 17 then.
I'm 21 and I started reading it when I was 14.
I remember first discovering OP in the local Borders (or was it B&N?) store back before Manga really caught on in my region (N.Texas) as I was getting the latest YYH. Manga selection then was about only about 1 ft wide on the shelves. Within 3 yrs it became a really big area in the stores…but still small be todays standards. For a while I just read the novels that came out in the bookstores as I yet to discover the online scans, so I would wait a month to discover what was next but I was still not reading it all the time. It wasn't until Ennies Lobby that I found out about online scans and I started reading (again) from the very beginning. It took me about 10 days (due to reading only when not working) to read all of it and be caught up...and I've not been able to stop reading since.
Well I like the new vote choices and voted again. I'm interested in waiting a while and seeing the voting results.
wonders how many others are in the 40-50 range
Just another person apparently. BTW What do you do for a living?
Feed this thread the Bara Bara no mi fruit already.
26 years old here.
got into onepiece from the first number here in italy (july 2001),followed it till the end of the enies lobby arc, then began following spoilers and scan
I'm 26 and won't ever stop it… I will watch/read it together with my childs until the end
Thirty something thirty something!!!! kids, rent, work and more work, and some one piece in the free time …. You are young man, pretty much energy give and time to use it ... :-)
No kids yet. So just work, bills, more work and more bills.

I think I followed up to the V2 group, did it ever make it to V3? I remember when V2 was shutdown, couldn't find anywhere else to read OP. And now every damn online manga reader has OP.
Just another person apparently. BTW What do you do for a living?
I used to be in retail sales …fancy way to say I worked in the Jewelry dept at Wal-Mart. lol I was with the CO. for nearly 15 yrs (in several depts. but Jewelry most of it) before I was fired and then 'retired' due to disability. So now I am living off the SSI I paid into and play on the comp all the time
Oh, MSN, those were the days. When my dad stopped importing the volumes from Japan, those where the first scanlations I turned to. I was so bummed when they got closed down, as I had no idea where to go next. I don't know how many sites I bounced around to before ending up at One Manga.
I'm 27 next month, married with children. I started with the anime when I was about 18 or so, the 4kids version. Pretty sure I started watching it at the end of high school and paid for all of the earlier volumes. I got sick of waiting for Alabasta to begin and end so I eventually discovered the rest of the Japanese anime, caught up with that, then sped read up to the end of Thriller Bark. Can't believe it's been so long now…

Whoho! another June baby, that's three of us that I know of so far
I'm surprised there's no one here who's over 60.
Come on, old folks. I know you're out there somewhere.
I can still remember reading those shitty quality scans on that MSN site.
Oh shit, I used to read the chapters there too back when the manga was in the middle of the Thriller Bark arc.
Good times, good times.
I'm on the second group I was first introduced to One Piece by the Anime(my country directly dubbed the japanese version so I was never afected by 4kids), though for some reason they stoped half trough loguetown and only now they restarting(other channel got the rights and supringly they have most of the same actors) and i had net only on my late teens so those msn never catch them.
And only 2 years ago is that I'm starting to buy volumes my first one was one from impel down.
I turned 30 in February. Became a fan right when the first manga volume was released here in January 2002, although i first heard about it when a friend who went to live in Japan started talking to me about OP in the previous year. His Japanese was so bad that he kept saying Zoro's name was "Mr. Bushido", probably due to where the anime was back then.
Oh, and i started following the weekly chapters when i was spoiled that Luffy would fight Usopp.
I think I followed up to the V2 group, did it ever make it to V3? I remember when V2 was shutdown, couldn't find anywhere else to read OP. And now every damn online manga reader has OP.
Nope. V2 got deleted with all the other MSN groups.
Anyone remember that joke page on V2 that said that One Piece is Luffy's hat, which was given to Shanks by Roger?
Anyone remember that joke page on V2 that said that One Piece is Luffy's hat, which was given to Shanks by Roger?
Welp, not a joke anymore, but a partial truth.
In the majority here at 19 years of age.
30….....................
27 here. Started reading just about 2 years ago.
