RE: One Piece 723: Change of plans
This "I can see 4000km in every direction using my DF" bullshit is even worse than Hody's water bullet traversing a 500km distance within Fishman Island that was shown to be incredibly small. Oda's grasp on basic geography is quite frankly appalling.
I guess that's what you get when a man never leaves his Office. It's only when you travel, (and not by airplane) that you realize just how far 4000km are. The distance struck me as pretty ridiculous too. You sit this woman down in Central Africa and she can watch every single place on the damn continent. She should have not seen the Strawhats coming a day ago, she should have seen them since leaving Alabasta or something…
RE: US government shitdown. How will this effect you?
It's been doing that for a long time i'd say.
RE: Chapter 720: Convict Gladiators
This was friggen hillarious. Barto's like one of those infatuated silly girls in harem manga xD
The convict gladiators seem a bit stereotypical, we've seen that sort of group a lot in past. Like the shadowless people of Thriller Bark or the Angle Beach inhabitants in Skypia.
The Blackbeard Aokiji thing didn't really look like anything more than a proposal that Burgess doesn't like but Blackbeard is taking serious. Spoiler made it sound like a done deal.
And yes Rebecca looks like Nami and she acts like her too. They both work for the bad guys unreachable goals to be set free.
RE: Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay
My favourite secene from the manga. And now from the anime too. They did it really well!
RE: Vinland Saga
This whole "punch me a 100 times" martyr bullshit felt so contrived and show-offy. I hope Musashi isn't going to do something as annoying after his farm arc.
Musashi will be painting and writing mostly. Edo period Japan placed more value in culture and arts and stuff than the Vikings did. Also Musashi never tried to build heaven on earth in a country of his own. Having teritory like Thorfin is set out to get, is bound to get you into conflicts that will challenge his pacifism. While Musashi has a change of heart near the the end of his life and he retires, Thorfin is still young and will try to accomplish his goals with this pacifist nature. That's arguably a more interesting case to observe.
But so far, I think the message is clear. If you wanted to be a pacifist in that day and age, you better were became a formidable warrior first. That kinda defeats the purpose of course and it's what Thorfin will try to establish in Vinland. A country were this is not the case. And if this manga stays somewhat close to reality it will fail of course. But the how and why is the interesting part.
RE: Oda's INSPIRATION for One Piece
also,we already know who WB is based off
We know Whitebeards personality is based off of Odas former friend, thats what that quote from yellow says, and the medical apparatus as well. But are his general looks too? Must hell of an imposing sight coming into that bar
| Hobby | Spending time with Kazuya ever since he was a child (As seen in Kazuya's T5 ending) |
| Likes | His best friend, his great-grandson and his grandson
from chapter 708 ccc translation
“It’s Sai and Boo from Kanokuni!!!”
Don: “Take your hands off of me, precious grandchildren…!!!”
It's not a solid proof I know but wanted to share a thought.
Okay, thats one more thing, i guess. It's still only a bald old man that likes his grandchildren. That's an accurate description for like 80% of all old men out there. It seems to me like this doesnt really distiguish him to the point you could say this is a likely connection.
RE: Oda's INSPIRATION for One Piece
I don't see the similarity. They are both old, bold guys, thats about it. There a ton of those out there. I'm rather sceptical about Oda playing Tekken 5 as well… That Tekken dude looks more like Whitebeard if anything. Who of course can't be based off of him either cause Whitebeard appeard 3 years before Tekken 5.
