-
Dang, what an awesome fight! I can't wait to see this one animated! This is probably my second or third favorite fight this arc.

Awesome chapter, as expected of the great Oda.
Asura looks flipping badass. Zoro, ftw.
But yeah, I'm sad to see my favorite CP9 go. :(
-
wow, i posted this raw less than two hours ago. You guys are fast. (btw me=NeoShweaty). I actually came here to post the raw but i found this first, lol
-
It's the internet, what did you expect! Thanx again

After having read Eblob88's translation I'm starting to think this new technique is speed based based on the following lines
"Kaku: I’ll increase the speed…"
After this line, Kaku turned himself into an eight headed hydra. So there we know Kaku's illusion at least is speed based.
"Kaku: He changed the slicing wave into mists!!"
Slicing wave implies a flapping motion of Zoro's arms (as awkward as that may sound). So Zoro seems to be flapping his arms up and down (again as awkward as that may sound) with speed similar to or surpassing that of a hummingbird's flapping wings to create that mist.
-
Flapping and shaking his head
-
is it just me, or did kaku's swords get bigger?

"Kaku: He changed the slicing wave into mists!!"
Kaku is referring to his slicing wave that he made, Zoro cuts straight through it, and turns it into mist before slicing into Kaku himself
And we know its not speed based because Kaku sees the image once, then sees normal Zoro, and then sees the Asura image in full when he launches his final attack.
Zoro "powersup" by taking the Asura stance, and as a result, his enemy sees the illusion of the six armed/three head demon image. Kaksu sees the multi limbed image because its basically an optical illusion caused by the sheer badassery of this sword stance.
To use a Naruto comparison, think of how killing intent causes the recipient to hallucenate an image of destruction. Same basic thing here, the Asura stance creates this illusion of Zoro as a demon.
-
Is it just me or is there an echo in here?
-
You people seem kind of hung up on the spirit thing -__-'
Well, Oda's never used any sort of spirit stuff as an explanation for anything yet. It's all Devil Fruits or Dials or exaggerated physics (Sanji's heat-leg/Clima-tact). The only exception I can think of is Mantra in Skypia, and that seemed pretty localized (Though I forget the details of that…)
Maybe I missed something. What, exactly is "Keitsu"?
Slicing wave implies a flapping motion of Zoro's arms (as awkward as that may sound). So Zoro seems to be flapping his arms up and down (again as awkward as that may sound) with speed similar to or surpassing that of a hummingbird's flapping wings to create that mist.
The only issue I have with that with that arises when you look at the last page and see that his different arms have different wounds/dirt on them…
Edit: Though looking again, that could just be the angle and distance... -
Whoa. This has rekindled my love for this arc. A great way to end the minor fights and move on to the main attraction.
Eiba, I love your Kaworu avatar.

So what about his mouth? Now that's awkward.
-
So what about his mouth? Now that's awkward.
Shaking his mouth really fast.
No I'm not serious
-
This was a great chapter, and a cool end to a surprisingly good fight, but DAMN am I glad those goddamn giraffe shenanigans are over.
-
Thanks to everyone that made this chapter possible that I have already forgotten the name of.
My quick take on Zoro's new move before I hide from the inevitable Sanji VS Zoro VS Luffy debate: It has to have something to do with either speed or his swords. It can't be aura, because he also duplicates the swords with the correct sword corresponding to the correct hand.
-
Great chapter, love the moves that Kaku pulled out. But I am glad we'll be at the main event very soon.
-
question: How many times did Zoro cut Kaku in the last panel?
-
Hey, I just checked eblob88's translation. Apparently Zoro hit Kaku while using Kamie.
Now Kamie gets the Tekkai treatment.
-
@Kidany:
But I am glad we'll be at the main event very soon.
im not so terribly excited about the Luchi vs Luffy main fight since u know hes just gonna transform into his animal form and use his slight variation on the same old Rokushiki moves not that it will be a bad battle i just never liked Rokushiki in the first place and by the third fight in the row it starts to get a little old me thinks,
im actualy more looking forward to seeing Spandam and his Elephant sword in action cause with them u have no clue what hes gonna whip out but im probably the only one who does.
-
Im almost wanting to bet that Hattori will be some kind of DF weapon for Lucchi to use in addition to his own DF skills
Sanji defeated Jyabura with two kicks from his flaming feet, and Kaku pretty much fell over dead the second Asura was revealed. So I'm expecting Lucchi to get taken to the wall pretty hard when the full extent of the gears are revealed, but hes got to have an ace up his sleeve that turns things back in his favor.

…..a leopard weilding a +1 pidgeon sword/mace/whatever would be almost Kakuraffe funny
but kinda repetative since there already is an animal weapon...

something stupid. oops.
-
And people were complaining about how stupid it is for Zoro to 'grow' extra limbs and faces. Now everyone is so excited about this fight! Perhaps we might get an explanation next chapter about this move.
Kaku's out the scene. Zoro should be fined for violence towards animals. And so's the same with Sanji and later Luffy.
I wonder how many animals were hurt when Oda drew this arc?
-
@Cap'n:

WORD. Holy quadraped that started to annoy me a bit. I think I liked Kaku better when he was ambiguously-aged silent-human dude… actually to me both Calipha and Kaku got a bit 'ruined' when they ate DFs, but that's just me and my dumb thing against having too many DFs in a single arc. Mweh !
-
Actually, what I find the most interesting about the Luffy vs. Lucchi fight is that it is reversed from most of the other fights. In most of the fights, Luffy is itching to fight the big bad guy of the arc, and the bad guy is usually trying to avoid the fight.
In this battle, Luffy is just trying to get by Lucchi and save Robin, while Lucchi is the one who wants the fight. Of course, Luffy want's to kick Lucchi's ass, but after Robin is safe. Who knows, maybe once Franky gets by, Luffy will be able to concentrate on the fight more because somebody else is on their way to save Robin from Spanda.
-
That Zoro just looks disturbing… It brings back bad memories...
-
This chapter bored me. gets hit with tomatoes
Sorry, it did. I will probably like it better animated.
-
The worse part of this arc: So many great crazy villians. Who will get the miniarc? I'm leaning towards kaku.
Now is the spanda hunt starting. Please Oda. I need a Soge fix.
-

Actually I think Kaku just got ruined Calipha just got sexier.
I actually think that if they never got their DFs or had more experience with them they would have not have lost or lost as easily as they did. -
Thanks Carly, gilrules2000/NeoShweaty and Ashen :o)
-

I actually think that if they never got their DFs or had more experience with them they would have not have lost or lost as easily as they did.Calipha's DF I didn't like because it changed her from 'sexy and I know how to use it' to 'sexy and I know how to use it oh look RUBBING NAMI FANSERVICE'.
Maybe my possession of a vagina is inhibiting my appreciation for Calipha after the fruit, but I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that way. :p
And yes, I TOTALLY agree about the experience issue. Their fights turned into showing off their DFs, not fighting, and I like my fights, damn it !

hehe, yeah i liked Kaku as a giraffe… but I was seriously pining for a Zoro vs (human)Kaku match. I know it would've been just... another fight. But that would've been a freakin sweet fight, even moreso... maybe when i have talent i'll draw it myself XD lol
I did get a little mad at first when I heard they were eating DFs (mainly I was scared Kaku was gonna be something retarded like a monkey)
-
I was hoping for Kaku in human form too…but then again, maybe they're not done...it was one page, not two page spread finish...uh-oh, here we go again. XD
-
Honest, i'm just happy we're one step closer to the end, i actually get where people are coming from with the whole boring chapter thing and roukishi just being a constant repeat of things. also looking as cosmic's avatar, it seems that Robin's Asura >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zoro's Asura (that's a joke btw). I really want to see an explaination of Zoro's Asura, though i must admit, i'm excited as hell by the thought of it having something to do with the sword. Over the past few days the whole three swords = three talents thing has been slowly submersing me into a giggle fit of apprecitation, i'm in lust with the idea. Damn you Kaku, you took around seven chapters to die, it means Luffy's fight could be going on till November :o|
-
Nice chapter. Too fmany tricks for one chapter though but oh well they don't have time to do it slowly
-
If Robin were to have an upgrade attack, then it would probably be similar to Zoro's Asura. I wish that she does…
-
I loved this chapter.
This is definitely my fav CP9 fight so far, with Franky vs Fukurou. -
the best fighting chapter so far: it really turns from funny to badass!
-
I didnt like the Asura thing that much, it was too much of a buff. Like… 9 sword style?! @___@
but yeah, anywho, Kaku was spectacular! -
thanks for the upload
-
Thanks a lot.
:D~~~~ cant' wait to see this fight animated (properly).
-
Many Thanks to gilrules2000, Ashen and Carly.
Damn. That last page shows just how badly was Zoro injured.
Simply great chapter. That's all that needs to be said.
Btw, can someone please connect the last two pages?
-
very nice one. =)
-
Hi!
There is a French scanlation by O.P.S here : http://www.onepiecescan.com/
It's a very good chapter.
Now I want to see Luffy VS Lucci with new techniques
-
Just thought i'd add my input. Totally agree with too much focus being on the devil fruit however kaku was nothing short or magnificent he was handled better than jyabura was in that he kept his assassin like demeanour though there were ''omg his eyes are so frightful…'' kinda thing. And i'm glad he wasn't spoilt too much cos he's my fav cp9. The zoro asura thing I dunno if I like it only because unlike it being him moving so fast he's creating alternates he actually looked like he sprouted extra limbs on th last panelas he's stable. Also it was something I imagined robin would come up with. Anyway usopp might learn how to stretch his body parts next.........
-
That…was weird! After the last chapter with the "giraffe box", I really should have expected Kaku to keep going with a lot of the weird things that assisted him like that...but I guess I was sort of expecting a much more sane fight. As for Zoro...well what hasn't been said! His attacks have evolved to the point where he is literally becoming gods and demons and there's no place further for him to go but up! Great chapter and thanks to all for bringing it.
Hopefully, next week, the main event finally begins in earnest: leopard man vs. rubber man!
