I dismissed this chapter as wasteful, well that was my first impression, after reading it the first three times, now it seems so very fascinating looking forward, this chapter did well to give a hint of whats coming next.
According to the fact that Luffy was using Gear 4 for about twenty minutes, I think it is a quite impressiv technique… I'm expecting the fight to be over already... Once Zorro will cut up the birdcage, Doffy will collapse from his injuries Naruto-style... He is already beyond his limits... He can't walk properly, he doesn't speak any longer, nothing. He is done for.
Is there any chance that the next chapter (or one of the following ones) not only ends with Doffy laughing, but also with giving us readers the impression that he'll be a winner of this whole battle (and therefore is not screwed up regardless what happens)?
I really hope so.
All this time I've been thinking that if Luffy can't take on Doffy by himself then how could he possibly stand against a yonkou, but honestly I think the point of this arc has been to highlight luffy's ability to gather allies. Sure he may not be strong enough yet but he's future as the king of pirates has never been more clear. Because just been the strongest doesn't make you the king of pirates, he has to be admired and respected by many of the craziest sea and I think he's accomplished this in dressrosa. Who knows maybe he goes against a lesser opponent in the next arc, one of the other supernovas perhaps as an appetizer to get ready for kaido or big mom.

The dude was skywalking and is walking towards the gladiators, what are you on about?

Luffy will be strongest at the end of the series. All the Yonkou fallen unable to match the great Pirate Mugiwara who will also make his way to Raftel and claim the One Piece and then being regarded as the Pirate King.
Besides, how can you have the most freedom on the seas if you're going to run away from Admirals and Yonko levelled chars?

Agree with this. It's not just him either, it's the whole crew. Every Strawhat except for Nami and Chopper had at least one momen when they turned an enemy or directed allies, and a couple even served as symbols on their own. Every Strawhat still on the island has had a moment where other people have conciously relied them as an individual.
Luffy gains allies wherever, I don't think this one is much different. I do think that after this arc, it'll be about where the Sunny is, and then taking Momo back to Wano.
This is just me wanting the wildest amount of intense action but I wish Burgess had tried to kill law for his fruit as well.
I also actually hope that in these 9, 8.5 minutes left, Doffy parasites or puppets Luffy while hes unable to fight back and Doffy wrecks everyone and everything around him using luffy, Burgess, Sabo, the fighters, and anyone else, and Luffy is completely exhausted when the ten minutes are up
This is just me wanting the wildest amount of intense action but I wish Burgess had tried to kill law for his fruit as well.
Good point, there would be no better time to go for it. My guess is that he's completely oblivious to Law's whereabouts/state presently or he has specific orders to go after Luffy's fruit (and possibly others')

Luffy is exhausted and defenseless, guarded by some nobody gladiators. Law is guarded by Cavendish with full energy who will easily be able to stall him long enough for support to arrive. Easy pick, other than Sabo stepping in of course.

No one dabates that Luffy wont be, Im just saying that he doesnt have to be strongest right now.

Gear 4 20 minutes later it runs out? Coincidence? I think not!

Maybe this'll work?
hahehe, found this top ten most ridiculous super powers, The Bouncing Boy xD, oh God
Haha that's great! And it's good to know about Hindsight Lad. I thought South Park came up with Captain Hindsight on their own since it was so ridiculous (his super power was telling you what you did wrong and what you should do… after it was done already. Seems like it was comedy/rip-off like always :D
Thanks!

I'm leaning more towards Burgess besting Sabo, and Luffy concerned about it while thinking stuff like: "I can't even help you Sabo!!!"
So the chapter will end with Doffy and Burgess both looking good, and then break next week
You guys need to stop worrying about power levels so much. Remember when Luffy went straight from fighting guys like Arlong and Wapol to fighting a damn Shichibukai? A shichibukai with a logia no less? He can go from a shichibukai to a yonkou. It's going to be tough but that's what makes the series exciting. The struggle and the triumph. One Piece has always been about Luffy taking on things way bigger than himself and managing to tear it all down for the sake of his friends and his dream. The Kaidou and Big Mom arcs are going to be incredible, I can't wait. and this chapter is really great as well, it highlights a lot of the themes concerning Doflamingo wronging an entire country and gives the people a chance to help out the superpowered pirate we all know and love. Next chapter's probably gonna make me really emotional, I can tell

This. Thank you. I don't know when exactly people became so fixated on something like power levels. This is not Dragonball, there isnn't even a unit of measurement for power in this series. It's all personal opinions!

What about Doriki?
How bout using too much everything? As you may have noticed, Luffy is completely drained, can't even walk on his own. It's not just Haki, but his capacity to use it.
As he said, he'll need 10 minutes before he can use Haki again. Haki is important because there's barely any chance Dofla might fall to something less than a full powered attack.
Rarely is seeing you defending shit.
400 chapters ago, Luffy needed to eat to recover from exhaustion, other ways were hypnosis and dope but just wait is something new and lacks of creativity.
Saying whatever you like doesn't change things much. Luffy will need to become a lot stronger before he can take down one of Yonkou.
@DHL:

pretty sure he's walkin on his strings, skywalk would have those little cloud effects.
also he's shaking as he's walking towards the gladiators on this page.
!
(those sfx-bubbles beside his feet say "fura" in the raw, meaning wobble or tremble)

Lol, that's true.
I see where you're coming from and it does feel like recycling. I was just defending the mechanics of G4, not Oda's ways of dealing with Luffy vs. main boss of the arc.
By itself, this is a lot better than Nola, golden ball or falling asleep after hypnosis. It's nice that Luffy's trump card is actually a desperation attack he can't stop and that is a big gamble, considering he's fucked if he doesn't knock out his enemy with it.
What about Doriki?
That only applies to physical power.
And the Funimation Dub doesn't count.
fw@Zoro:
Also i wish to see Zoro cutting that cage, because he is strong, also he is Luffy's right arm, Zoro must do something big like stopping the cage to officially advance in the "monsters club" bounty, i mean everyone knows Zoro reputation, but his bounty really don't match up what he really worth.
Not sure why the marine will increase zoros bounty if he ever manages to slice the birdcage. I think zoro Franky and the 2 other samurais can only hope to slow down the cage buying some time.
If they slice the cage now every tension will be gone. Odd needs dressrosas despair to make luffys win really meaningfull/emotional.
Also giving the opportunity to others to do something instead of having Luffy doing everything alone is important.
I don't know but every SH present hold off a family member and zoro literally cut a mountain to get pica. I found that impressive enough .
The only one doing near to nothing is fuji. Waiting for whatever to happen before taking care of the Family and his plan to abolish the shishibukais.

All he said was give me 10 minutes. We don't know what he will do in 10 minutes. He will probably eat. He ate after fighting Chinjao, which means the need for food is still there. Wait and see what happens in that 10minutes, it's not like Luffy will take a nap for 10minutes.
What about Doriki?
Doriki has not been brought up again after the CP9 arc, so I don't think it counts as a general unit of measurement for power in the series and, thus, cannot be applied to anyone in the current manga. Besides, it was only used to measure physical power and subsequent rokushiki capabilities. Devil Fruits and Haki wouldn't factor into Doriki.

And power levels are not used anymore after Freeza. Boom, die.
I don't get why no one uses the Bicuit Powerlevel Scale.
!
Let me try
B=Luffy
C=Sabo/Burgess
A=Doffy
D=Fujitora
And power levels are not used anymore after Freeza. Boom, die.
You don't have to tell me, tell the people that produce 30+ pages about Sabo vs. Fujitora, Luffy vs. Dofla or [insert random other fight]
What if Doula's shaking and silence are just hints of him already defeated and ready to die with or even before the 10 minutes waited-attack?
Kaidou is placed on the same ground as WB. I can't expect Luffy to solo anything like that unless we are close to the end of the series. Doflamingo is enough proof that Luffy still has a long journey in terms of power.

Luffy surpassed Doula in G4, he just needs to get more control over it and awaken his fruit.

Haha, good point. What happened to meat being Luffy's ultimate cure-all? "MIIITOOO!!!!" Guess haki's the exception.
What about Doriki?
pff…that is the past. Now has been upgraded with Cavendishes. Rufy is about 10 Cavendish or so...
Luffy surpassed Doula in G4, he just needs to get more control over it and awaken his fruit.
Surpassed a weakened one.
Not to mention "he just has to".
Tbh that's not really a proper statement as Luffy right now isn't in control of it. In this fight he went all out after Law and hes still standing. We cant match flamingo with what Luffy doesn't have yet in this time.
We can also say if Luffy was stronger with awakening and more endurance, he could take out higher tier chars.
Luffy knows Doflamingo will put him down in these 10 minutes. He needs the time buying.

They were both weakened, as stated, before Luffy went G4.
G4 was clearly stronger than Doflamingo, but Luffy still needs improvements, specially in the stamina and endurance department, where Doflamingo outclasses him.

I really enjoyed the Burgess plotpoint in this chapter. It's completely in character of a BB pirate to do what he did, and time it the way that he did. A nice little tearjerker at the end when Sabo is talking to Luffy as well.
What about Doriki?
Just like power levels in dbz it only serves 2 purposes.
1. to give a clear ranking of the antagonist groups perceived strength
2. to show how ultimately useless they were when it actually came down to fisticuffs with the protagonists cause they don't give a shot about em.
Oh I forgot 3. To spark meaningless flame wars among the fandom :ninja:
Maybe mansherie will cry on luffy, kyros told her to save her powers for those who need em most, maybe she'll use them on luffy. No english speaker here, but you get the idea? Just my thought.
I really do hope for these ten minutes Oda focuses on sabo and Champion. But knowing Oda he may only show glimpses of their conflict because he rather show emotions of the citizens in their meaningless attempt in containing doffy. doffy can just swep them away with his awakened devil powers in an instant.
Zoro vs Zombie Brook lasted 5 minutes.

Based off the facts, Luffy wasn't really weakened. It probably was just shit talk from flamingo, the dude wasn't even replying to Luffy's question.
If you think that Luffy had faced as much of a handicap as Doffy, it would be delusional.

Generally appearing out of nowhere and saving the day/ruining Burgess' plans/generally being untouchable if you're not an admiral.
Burgess's plan was to steal Luffys Gomu Gomu no mi. Would you actually want that to happen?
Just realized which excellent gladiator we might get to see again…Jean Ango! Cactus head about to make a glorious comeback.

If you think that Luffy had faced as much of a handicap as Doffy, it would be delusional.
In this arc Luffy fought Don Chinjao and other gladiators, ran around by being attacked by the Donquixote Family including Pika, fought Doflamingo's clone on at least two separate occasions, fought Bellamy who used haki at least once, and was blown up by Trebol. All of this while fighting Doflamingo off and on, based on what "facts" are you saying Luffy was really not really weakened?

Facts are what's shown in the manga, not our own interpretations.
It was clearly stated in the manga that both of them are weakened. Luffy was even panting before he went G4, while Doflamingo hasn't shown any signs of fatigue.
There was no confirmation on who's more weakened, only who got hit by a more dangerous move. But that all depends on how you look at it, since DD clearly stated that he was repairing his organs.
He was never shown groaning, slowing down or shaking after that attack. Unlike Luffy's last G4 attack, where he was shown wobbling.
Luffy was able to fight Crocodile shortly after getting stabbed in the gut, by his hook, without any shown handicap. The same can be said with DD.
Is Luffy's DF that much on demand?! I mean if it wasn't for Luffy I doubt if the fruit would have been utilized to this extent.
Burgess trying to steal DF with a knife kinda reminds me of Sylar from Heroes who eats part of the dead body which gives him the power of the host

It would have been nice to see sabo rushing towards the battlefield with a strained face showing us he hopes to not be late. Instead we got an out of nowhere appearance plus him having the time to smile at luffy. It's cheesy. Also it wouldn't have hurt if Oda made Burgess detect sabos attack and block it in the last second thusshowing us that a commander of BB the new yonkou can at least look competent.
