I was gonna say king riku is the one that can turn people into toys and that dofla has forced him into using his power somehow after taking over dressrosa. Since it almost seems the toys were there before.
Chapter was alright, nothing to amazing but it filled my weekly One Piece fix.

I honestly hope Rebecca gets creamed in block D. Don't want her in the final four to be honest. Only reason I want her to loose is so Luffy can take the rage with him into the final four, he would then really have a bone to pick with Dofla.
The whole part about how Samurai from Wano are supposed to be relevant in some manner in this arc is causing some confusion for me at the moment. Mainly, why? I mean we have the comment about how Ricky's fighting style was close to that of the Samurai. If we assume Ricky is the previous overthrown King, was he from Wano originally? What about Kyros? Was he from Wano? What connection does Ricky have with Kinemon or Kanjuro, if any (if we assume rightly that he was King Riku)? I think this is peeking my interest the most at the moment, especially the mystery behind Momonosuke's problems?

Well, we know that she was pushed around by Spartan and failed to even hurt a restrained and 'handicapped' Luffy. But she was also holding back (And it's Luffy.) and is called the 'undefeated woman'. Though, considering the person that said it, it could have been a joke. Chances are that, yes, she is strong. Is she as strong as the person who stopped and held up Chinjao? Maybe, maybe not.
After this chapter there can be no doubts in which way Spartan was pushing Rebecca around. It's verbal and psychological abuse that the girl has suffered from all this years since she ahs been revealed as a granddaughter of king Riku, and that's what kind of wounds the crowd and mighty fighters hit her at.
Bringing up Luffy in regards to other characters' strength isn't helpful at all. His strength is one of the most unstable variables in the series. At his best he knocks out warlords, at his worst he gets knocked around by jobbers.
Maybe that's why Oda gave him the Durandal Sword, … to endure.

The toy soldier still had both legs while fighting the doflamingo forces so it's less likely he's Kyros. My best guess is that Ricky is Kyros, the old king and the Toy Soldier is just some strong royal who used to be close to Kyrus, learning his fighting style that way.

Dofla and Law haven't met in 10 years and was a supernova 2 years ago. So he surely haven't been in the NW and definitely hasn't set a foot in Dressrosa(Dofla would have seen Law in that occasion) .

I love the fact that thunder is a wanted toy. Everyone wants with the toy, though I think we haven´t seen his /its bounty. This is making me suspect that toy soldier is stronger than what we think and his human form is even way beyond his actual condition….
He doubt he is really strong in that form. Being in such a small and unsual body must have rob him from his skill( he normaly fights with a sword) and the missing leg take out the mobilty and maybe the leg.
I'm half expecting him to have in human form.
We really don't know whose gonna win, there just isn't concrete evidence as to who is the superior fighter until we see either of them in an actual fight. But I guess anyone whose dead set on one of them winning won't change their mind till it happens anyway at this point…

It would be something completely different if this flashback was placed in a later scene, but it's not. Rebecca steps into the colosseum and it's her versus nearly all of Dressrosa, but thanks to the impact added by her flashback, it's a stronger, more powerful moment and it's meant to demonstrate both her resolve and her strength as a person. This isn't going to be undercut by Rebecca suddenly being defeated by Cavendish, whose main connection to the storyline is his hatred for Luffy.

When did we see a toy before Dofla arrival?
Luffy won't help Rebecca during her match. It would her character more than anything else. Even a old Ricky with a dull sword perfom well. Plus the only one who could win agaisnt her is Cavendish and he has no reason to go beyond limit.
Rebecca probably is mock because she never really beat anyone. Just make it out without damage. This is due to her refuding to hurt others and only avoiding. Today is the day she goes on the offensive.

Law is present a pirate from North blue meaning he has been sailing from there to the new world. Plus the fact that Dofla said he raised him. I think that Law isn't from the crew but was meant to become part of it once he cross the grand line and come meet Dofla in his new kingdom which he got around the same time he saw Law. 16 is a great age to let kid build their own experience.

So, Riku Royal Family is related to "D." somehow? That would explains DD's and the Gorousei's interest in this country, the 900 years history between the Tontatta and DD's family told by Gancho, Rebecca's "distinguished blood".

Not necessarily. If she loses, that loss can have that much more impact since we know what she's fighting for. ChouChou's backstory comes to mind as something done similarly. Nami's flashback too was told right before her money was stolen.
My two cents is Rebecca's role can expand beyond the confines of the tournament. If anything, since the Revolt/attack on the factory is about to happen, her time in the tournament could be limiting her since at this point it looks like the raid on the factory will be happening around the time the 4 winners face the Doflamingo family.
Given Doflamingo's line to Law and the Vice Admiral's query about why no participants have left, presumably something sketchy is happening to the losers. I'm not saying Rebecca should be a damsel in distress, but at least she'd possibly be closer to the action and the Toy Soldier that way.
And well, the fight for the Devil Fruit seems to be a spectacle unrelated to the rest of the arc. Bartolemeo and Burguess definitely have nothing to do with the arc's happenings. Just think keeping Rebecca there as well doesn't have to be the only role she will play in the arc, though her going all Gladiator could be intriguing

Nami's flashback leads to her money getting stolen which leads directly the march on Arlong Park, a classically strong moment that resonates in the minds of most readers. Similarly, Chou-Chou's flashback has a near immediate response when Luffy bests Mohji and Richie. If there was some sort of easily resolvable situation or action that Luffy could take, I might agree with you, but even if Rebecca loses to Cavendish, he's not really part of the internal workings of Dressrosa. Luffy beating up Cavendish doesn't really solve Rebecca's problem or resolve any of her plotline, so this really doesn't strike me as a flashback where we're specifically learning about someone's motivation and resolve to make their defeat that much more resounding. Plus, considering the way Oda's written this arc, we'll very likely be switching focus over to the Green Bit side and/or the Tontattas and/or the Thousand Sunny crew before D-Block is fully resolved. I think that if Oda specifically wanted to expand upon Rebecca's motivation prior to her defeat, he would've skipped the flashback, left in the part regarding her getting booed and the prisoner gladiators explaining to Luffy why that's happening, and then revealed her motivation in the middle of the bout, right before a climatic moment.

Ultimately, whether she wins or loses, I'm really happy with the flashback placement because it gives the readers the chance to care about her journey and her future actions in the arc. And I think this was the right moment too instead of finding out her back story a chapter right before the emotional climax of her future character arc.
But the same can be said about her winning too right? If she wins, she'll still be in the same state as she was before the tournament and the flashback could've still been placed after she wins the prelims. If the flashback wasn't placed here and she loses, then that lost would have very little impact.
Also, we know she's not going to win the tournament, and as of right now none of Doflamingo's men were given any indication that they personally hate the Riku Kingdom members, so her losing later would have a similar impact as her losing now.
Edit: Rebecca losing to one of Doflamingo's men would have a bigger impact actually. But it's not so much the loss than what will happen after the loss. You're right in that Oda isn't the type to just crush resolves easily, but seeing where Rebecca's journey takes her once she loses seems like the more interesting route to take personally (cause like I said, we know she won't win or the tournament will be interrupted while she's still in the tournament).

Cavendish was a super rookie three years ago. Meaning he had a bounty of over 100 million before he hit Saobody and is currently a famous New World pirate. He owns a named sword, and the weakest person we've seen with a named sword so far has been Tashigi,* and even then at her introduction she was able to mop the floor with mook pirates. Even ignoring that, we've seen Cavendish not only fight Don Chinjao, effectively stopping him in his place, a feat only copied by Luffy so far, but in his brief tussle with Luffy, he was shown to be on far more even ground than Rebecca. Rebecca's currently demonstrated abilities include being bullied by a guy that Luffy took out in one punch, being quickly disarmed by Luffy, and being shocked at his apparent strength. The narrative has shown that Cavendish is a legitimate threat and a capable fighter. The narrative has not shown the same for Rebecca.
*Kuina too, I guess.

This really is determined by how Oda wants to handle Rebecca's character and the overall structure of this arc. She could win and that would be…okay (even though it would be odd to think this would resolve anything since it might lead to her facing off Jesus which we all know probably isn't going to be her win at all). So even if she did win here, it really wouldn't amount to anything since it seems likely she would get wiped out in the finals anyway. However, it would help in a minor way in her whole obsession with not being "the damsel" (the whole, "I don't want to be protected anymore" thing) but she's still going to get her ass kicked in the end (heck she might end up facing Luffy as well). However, this ALL depends on how in the world this tournament's finals are structured (since that initself is still in the air).
Likewise, even if she does lose here, it doesn't mean that her arc cannot be resolved either. The problem lies with whether if Luffy and co acts on her behalf (like Robin and Vivi) which will unfortunately diminish her "I don't want to be protected" trait. I mean the story indicates that her problem most likely will be resolved by defeating DF and we know that...she's probably not going to be the one defeating him.
The effect the flashback and its placement is a remarkably effective, but not completely indicative of what will happen next (even though Oda has used this structure many times before). It just gives us a greater resolve for why she is doing the things she does (as well as providing exposition on why she got booed which would be odd if Oda hadn't given us the flashback prior to the battle).
PS: Cavendish winning is probably just a set-up for a more comedic moment in the tournament or something (it REALLY depends on how Oda wants to handle the tournament finals).

2.) we don't know how much of their power is retained when they are changed to soldiers

Still i ask, have you thought that through? At some point she will have to loose. I really dont see how she will beat Barto, Burgess or 5 Flamingo guys including Diamante. Furthermore her main goal is not to win the tournament but to overthrow or defeat Flamingo. Even if she wins the tournament. Does anyone here believe that she could just eat the fruit and five minutes later beat Flamingo? She has to fight where her strength can maybe change the conflict or further her goal. Fighting a tournament where there are at least 4 or 5 guys that are definetly stronger than her isn`t it. I see another chance here. Rebecca will be important during the whole arc. If Cavendish looses the round he is dead this arc. Maybe for everything to come later. How can a 290Mil no DF loose here and still be taken seriously as a rival or contender in the NW? I think the last two fighters will be Cavendish and Rebecca. Rebecca loosing in a dirty way making Luffy feel the same way as Cavendish feels about him resulting in a major beatdown for Cavendish in the next round against Luffy. I can see 2 semifinales Burgess vs. Barto, Luffy vs. Cavendish. Luffy kicking Cavendishs ass hardcore (revenge for Rebecca) and Burgess being the one who finally show us the limits of Bartos barriers by cracking that shit with some major punch making the king punch look like childs play.

The distinguished blood was to conform that Rebeccas royalty comes from the mothers side of the family. Later Oda specifies by telling us that she is the kings grandaughter making her mother the daughter and Rebecca a princess. Oda had to do it that way to keep it interesting during the chapter. He couldnt give us those two pieces at once.
As you can see from my signature i am confident that we will get more truth about the void century and the D´s in this arc. As a lot of people pointed out that Dressrosa is Albasta 2.0 there is a chance that The Rikus or Tontattas were guardians of Poneglyph or knowledge about the void century. Maybe that is where CP0 will come into play during the end of DR.
I expect a lot from CP0. With the info we got so far we can assume that they are the most secretive unit of CP and i suspect the most powerful as well. Working with wiretaps, surveillance using the other Cp units to execute their orders. The meaning of aegis is a great hint. Cloud computing, governments collecting massiv amounts of data. Maybe they are the only Cp unit that knows the real history and the real objectives of the world government. The CP0 arc will be amazing.

Joking aside, i really liked that moment of Luffy's eating the food that fell on the ground: reminds me both of Zoro's will to eat the food Helmeppo stomped to the ground as well as Sanji's "never waist food" mentality.
I kind of enjoy the little parallel between Rebecca and Ace (especially with the Mera Mera fruit being the price) : being hated and despised by everyone because of your family (or a family member you never even met), not because of something you did.
Not only that, there's also a paraller between Rebecca and Luffy with all this "protect the beloved ones" tematic enforced by the Mera Mera fruit (which symbolizes Ace, who gave away his life for Luffy). Pretty deep.
So if Rebecca is the next Vivi, who's the next Nico Robin?

Regarding Rebecca's epithet…
I'm thinking she must be known for speed. We haven't actually seen her fight anyone yet (Luffy said she had no killing intent; aka she wasn't really trying), and after the scuffle, one of the mummies said "How could he beat Rebecca in a contest of speed?. Calling her phantom/illusionary fits with that (and wouldn't really have anything to do with the royal aspect of her character, given that she's entirely in the spotlight, as a gladiator).

If we asume that she is somehow related to Ricky, than we also can consider her fighting style to be something like his (because the Soldire thaught her maybe the fighting style of the former King).
