Another solid comparison would be evaluating the difference in tone and presentation of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman vs Dragonball Super. Clearly Toriyama's influence is there in Super with bits and pieces but Jaco feels mostly like Toriyama with all it's zaniness.

RE: Matt Groening's Disappointment
The show does feel a bit stronger than it's first season where it ACTUALLY got some laughs out of me (albiet, nothing super memorable aside from MAYBE Jerry and even then I'll forget about that exchange within a year or so). It isn't necessarily all that bad, but it isn't really that great or memorable either aside from looking gorgeous really. I was honestly hoping for more opportunities to explore stuff like steampunk land which was probably the most interesting element of this show so far but…yeah it was short lived.
Another gripe I had is that we're still stuck in Dreamland with MOST of the status quo intact whereas the end of the 1st season seemed to promise that we might see more of the world (Well...more of Maru and anything around it)...but now we are pretty much doing exactly the same thing with the end of the 2nd season with A FEW plot based things shuffled and revealed.

RE: Disney animation thread
^
Even a fair amount of the "fresh" reviews seem a bit "meh" about the movie which is kinda funny; generally going "yeaaaaah…we know the cartoon is better but it was...Okay? shrug" -
RE: Samurai 8 Hachimaru-den
Oh! Another potential underdog story….
Just watch him turn into Super powered Jesus like Naruto did in his serie and completely dump that underdog/hard work premise.

anticipates to hear Bradley dourif’s voice
…
No?
Well I guess I don’t care then. I’ll just dump this movie next to the pile of pointless reboots that do away with major iconic actors that represent the franchise.

RE: General Persona Thread
@.access:
So, I finished it after 135 hours. The game really weakens as it goes by, huh!?
stuff
Doesn't help that (spoilers about the final boss stuff)
! Shido felt more "final boss" material with everything all tying it back to him (as awkward as some of it was INCLUDING the Akechi thing); Not to mention the Shido battle felt pretty epic as well with the ost and overall setup. However, even after beating him, the game felt unnecessarily long with the REAL final boss with some sort of convoluted "Persona-esquel" social commentary message behind it. I would have felt far more content with the game if it just ended with Shido as I felt little to no emotional attachment/investment to the final boss at all.
Surely, I'm not the only one that felt like the end of the game kinda dragged a lot. Still, the best part of the game was the first few dungeons with an incredible hook.

RE: Matt Groening's Disappointment
Heck, the characters already changed a bit from the beginning of the season to the end (albiet Elfo is mostly just because I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner with his character). My only hope (and I presume we are getting this) is having more of the world expanded as I think there is a lot of creative possibilities with this universe through the Futurama team with more parodies mixed with legit world building.
I hope they learned from their mistake with the weirdo pacing of the first season through the netflix format by giving us something more cohesive and episodic. It looks like this may be the case too with the characters all split up with various potential plot lines that may manifest which will give us a grander look at the world.
Plus more villains please!

RE: Marvel Movies Thread - Holy Shitballs
Yeaaah…looks like it is working. Honestly if they can make it as funny as the trailer promises then I have no concerns with Deadpool’s treatment by Disney in the coming future as long as Reynolds special touch is there

RE: Ducktales- new series! Woohoo!
Good episode. Cousin Fethry is awesome
! While not the greatest episode, it's always nice seeing different characters pair up. Dewey and Huey are fun together, but the moral got in the way, especially since Huey never called Dewey out on his old shenanigans. But, yeah, moral. A better one would've been everyone is weird in their own way.
! Fethry is great. I can see they brought him to maximum creepy without him actually being creepy. Overall, I love his positive personality and eccentricity. Calling the boys Little Donalds was the icing on the cake. Glad they set him up to come back.
! I guess Launchpad's off-screen adventures is a thing now. It's cute. I hope they never dive deep into it.
! Been thinking about Louie Inc. I wonder if he'll put together his own adventuring team. Maybe Goldie and/or Gizmoduck. Or, somehow have Doofus get on board.Based on what we know of the next episode, it is going to be Webby and Louie centric episode so that makes sense.

RE: Ducktales- new series! Woohoo!
After hearing him as the character he's played in things like Brickleberry and Paraside P.D., I'll never be able to look at any other characters with his voice in the way they probably want.
Don't forget his sensational role as Mr. Jellybean
