lol who are you on Gamefaqs?
Oh I don't post on the politics board (never ends well), but I read it fairly religiously as an act of self-flagellation (I presume you're "kaiolino", of course?)

How can these burgers be so empty yet so filling?!
White House reaction: Flynn? That guy who worked for Obama?
I hate to ruin this thread now, but…. McConnell has the votes.
The tax bill was rushed and written overnight like a teenager who's been procrastinating on his homework.
But don't worry, next week there will be more stories about how McCain, Flake and Corker are the only true oppposition against Trump.
White House reaction: Flynn? That guy who worked for Obama?
I know you're joking, but is the joke that you knew the White House would do that, or that the White House is currently doing that?
@Monkey:
I never knew who Seth Abramson was before this year, but I love his tweets so much. He has the news I've been waiting for all year.
This is what the US tax code looks like:

I literally can't read that.
For squiggle writing, I've never understood how anyone can.
I guess you train your eye for it, or write that way so often that you start to recognise what other people are trying to say.
Welp…..it passed.
Hey it's been awhile since I told any lurking Trump voters to go fuck themselves, well go fuck yourselves again you easily duped modern day peasants.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It's fuckin' funny right? Like we all know who the fuck you are, and we especially all know who the fuck you THINK or thought you were.
The too cool for school South Park quoting meme happy internet hipsters who had it all figured out. You got Youtube skeptics open in one tab, /pol/ in the other, you know the real scoop. You're in the know. You got the raised eyebrow and half smirk always on hand for any situation. SMART perceptive motherfuckers, maybe even consider yourself a businessman or some shit.
Well yeah that's great, cuz whether you admit it or not we're all now on the same page about what you are. That you really realize you're the pants shitting simpletons gaping like cows as a man in fancy clothing sells you and your town snake oil.
And you know what you dumb fucker? You'll be back around to buy more and you goddamn know it.
Hate yourself. You deserve it.
My parents who voted Trump were screaming yesterday about how bad they fucked themselves if this passed.
My parents are pretty much the product of the Reaganomics trickle-down bullshit era that led to "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" voters. My mom voted against Obama both times because, as he puts it "guy seems good, just I don't want high taxes". And of course they both started fuming when they saw about the State and Local Tax deduction aspect of this. And then Zeldin who sucks Trump's dick whenever possible even started to send the "hey, FYI I did not put my name on this bill, I said no" emails around.
And then this passes.
I'm going to miss the SALT tax deduction. I didn't even know it was something only a few states got before now!
I also hate that my state had no real imput on this. Our senators are Democrats, and most of our GOP representatives voted no on this (except for Tom McAuther). I feel like I just watched a trainwreck, and was helpless to stop it. I really wish they'd get rid of 'reconcilation,' so other states don't have to go through this.
I only hope this bill somehow dies in the House, but that seems doubtful. It seems just as likely as Trump refusing to sign this thing to troll his party again. I only hope this ruins the GOP in 2018 and onwards, but I get the impression this bill will hurt for years to come.
AP, NYT, WaPo, CBS, ABC, etc. etc. they all refer to this as a " big win". Stop defending journalists, they're all craven lunatics too.
So…dem majorities in 2018...Mueller sends 45 and Pence to the big house just in time for President Pelosi...we hit a big old "undo" button on all this awful shit?
Right? Right??
weeps
Wait. No. Where's Obama? Get him to call up Trump and say,
"Hey there. Uh, this is Barrack. Donald. Listen. I know we haven't always seen, you might say, eye to eye. But friend, I'm going to need some 'bigly' help from you this time. Sign that tax bill when it crosses your desk. That's all I'm asking. It would personally be a "yuge" favor to me, Barrack Hussein Obama, if you signed that awesome tax bill. There's nothing that would make me happier, and heck, it's what I would've done."
You reap what you sow Americans
You reap what you fucking sow.
Remember that next time you are more concerned with the "wokeness" of your candidate.
We weren't fucked by the mythical Bernie Bro. We were fucked by a putrid melange of 60 million hicks, racists, evangelicals, and the same old middle-class soccer mom sect that always votes straight R even when it means supporting a braindead, short-fingered, vulgarian huckster. See MK's post. Oh, and a 30 year smear campaign against Hillary.
Blaming the fiery implosion of this country on leftists instead of the "Most Likely to be Saturday Morning Cartoon Villains" award-winning Republican party is disingenuous.
Well, this still has to go through the house, and then both have to vote on the modified same version of the thing. So it's still possible two republicans are waiting to switch and troll when that comes but ugggh. Counting on flip flop John McCain to pull that same stunt again is ridiculous and shouldn't be the only stopgap here.
Also, the vote to fuck over the internet is in 10 days and that's only a 5 man vote with 3 of them sold out.
So…. yeah.
I honestly don't understand how and why the rules are allowing such a big change to be pushed through without a 60% vote. It's ridiculous.
AP, NYT, WaPo, CBS, ABC, etc. etc. they all refer to this as a " big win". Stop defending journalists, they're all craven lunatics too.
Freaking irresponsible reporting. Chunk of the reason we're in this mess.
I hate this country. So very much.
AP, NYT, WaPo, CBS, ABC, etc. etc. they all refer to this as a " big win". Stop defending journalists, they're all craven lunatics too.
Surely they refer to it in the sense of it being a personal victory for him.
What I seem to know about this new tax bill, is that it makes the wage gap even more further than it is now. And of course it gets rid of all the ways people can get tax breaks… with their returns, but rewards the rich by giving them a lower tax wage. They also expect that the rich will help the lower classes with their tax breaks, when... that probably won't help; as from what I know there is already a big gap between CEOs and the lower employees. For one example, would be Walmart. That and also the fact that there were added stuff in the last few hours. That's what I got from this bill.
Anything else I missed? I don't really know economics much, but I'm willing to learn. Also, what would be a better way to help close the wage gap, and what do other countries do that the United States does not? As for Obamacare, I heard people say that this bill is destroy it, but the only thing I read was that the mandate is getting rid of; and nothing else. So, I like to be educated on the subject ^^

One very, very small positive thing I've noticed is that the majority of them have been referring to it as a tax "bill" instead of a cut. It makes sense since it raises taxes on most people and shows a spark of awareness there.

ACA was (R.I.P.) a three-legged stool.
The system can't function without all three. Remove leg 1), and old/sick/poor people can't get insured and die. Remove leg 2), and premiums become too high for the poorest people. Remove leg 3) (which just happened), and there aren't enough young/healthy people contributing to the pool to offset costs of old/sick/poor, which is the fundamental mechanism by which insurance works. Market is then imbalanced (premiums rise for those still getting insured) and whole thing is destabilized. System fails.
So yes, they repealed ACA in all but name, and it will lead to untold suffering for the most vulnerable among us.

Because a traitor is worse than an enemy. Because the left wanted the same things that the Democrats, but went against them for not being the perfect solution, while the Republicans were going to screw the pooch anyway. Because someone falling off the wagon is worse than a constant addict. Because the world was supposed to phase out many conservatives, but this breach on the progress side gave them a good ten years more of bullshit. Because a bad One Piece chapter hurts more than a bad Bleach chapter.
I'm not defending them. I despise them for putting ideological purity above pragmatism, the consequences of which are now playing out.
I'm saying their numbers didn't matter nearly as much as the omnipresent, incessant evil that we're always up against (this huge contingency of Marx-reciting lefties is utterly imaginary), and definitely didn't matter as much as seemingly everyone likes to pretend while implicitly giving a pass to the party-line republicans and their racism I mean economic anxiety. It ties into that shitty brand of NYT journalism that rants about antifa/emails while giving softball interviews to midwestern KKK deplorables.
And I disagree that a traitor is worse than an enemy (a traitor only exists in the context of conflict with an enemy, and especially because the enemy would much rather that we're distracted by traitors), but that's more of an abstract conversation.
This lightened up my mood after hearing the GOP tax plan. Apparently Trump did a dumb thing on twitter again. It's not the first time he's done this, but it doesn't look good for him:
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

- People can't be excluded for pre-existing conditions/age
- Subsidies to insurers to pay for this

Oh yikes >.<
I get it now. Thanks for explaining that to me!
By the way, what happens with Medicaid and Medicare now? Will they be affected? I'm currently on Medicaid, but will get on Medicare in less than two years. (I'm on SSDI.)

Good luck!
It's like when Columbo let's the perp admit the truth, but there's no Columbo. Trump's that stupid and conceited.
@CCC:
Good luck!
The Republicans don't really like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security…. they are definitely gonna lose a lot of voters with this, specifically older individuals. Hopefully, some miracle will happen, maybe.
Changing the topic:
Hopefully, Democrats can take control of the Senate and the House in 2018. -crosses fingers-

Surely they refer to it in the sense of it being a personal victory for him.
Yeah that's clearly the context. Though honestly even that is suspect given that it's very unpopular. So it's a victory just in being able to claim a thing happened under his watch rather than nothing at all.
And of course he also had nothing to do with it passing so far.

I've read some stuff that suggests Trump actually did help with this vote by pressuring a few of the more amenable holdouts like on of the Montana senators, in addition to communicating much more vigorously with McConnell. He certainly wasn't integral to the process, or even necessary really, but Trump did participate.
Flake supposedly supporting it in exchange for input on DACA particularly pisses me off. They're all asshats.

A Big Win for the GOP/"President" Donald Trump =/= A Big Win for everyone else
Notice, the headlines aren't saying that it is a big win for anyone other than the GOP and Trump.

The point is that it's being reported on as a sports result. Who gives a shit which party/person wins? It's about the legislation.

It's always about the party that wins

That's how politics works in this country. It's just another sports match of republicans and democrats and you stick to your team. That's why this bullshit goes on.
Everyone hoping that the democrats take over, and here I am just waiting for this obviously broken system to collide on itself. This shit we call a government doesn't work, and neither is this fake democracy.
It ain't over yet folks. The house still has to make their ammendments and vote on that, and then the senate has to vote again on that same language.
Unless Paul Ryan is able to convince the house to vote as-is. People need to stay mad and call their reps and tell them "I'm a lifelong republican but I'm voting you out next year if you pass this crap." Instead of resigning and saying "It's over, we lost" we have a few days to turn up the heat even more. I'm not hopeful but this ain't over yet.
Hopefully McCain decides to flip flop along with someone else in the meantime once they point out this is the same Obamacare repeal they voted against two months ago.

Trump's lawyer: I wrote the president's 'sloppy' tweet about Flynn's dismissal
President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, John Dowd, says he drafted the president's Saturday morning tweet that stated he fired former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn for lying not only to Vice President Mike Pence but also to the FBI.
"I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI," Trump tweeted at 9:14 a.m. on Saturday. "He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!"
Dowd told ABC News he wrote those words and had done so in a "sloppy" manner. A second source familiar with the matter corroborated his account.
The apparent admission by the president – that he knew Flynn had lied to the FBI at the time of his firing -- seems to add a potentially explosive new dimension to the ongoing special counsel investigation.
If true, why then would Trump ask the FBI director to go easy on Flynn, as former FBI Director*James Comey later testified? The message set off renewed talk of potential evidence of obstruction of justice.
The White House, which has insisted that tweets from the president should be taken as official statements, has declined to comment.
It's unclear who actually tweeted out the message; it is unlikely Dowd has direct access to the president's official Twitter account and could have tweeted without his knowledge or involvement, sources said.
Trump has given staffers assignments and told them not to tell Kelly: report
Trump reportedly gives aides tasks and says they should not share them with Kelly, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing several people familiar with the matter.
Aides have in the past decided not to abide by the president's requests in order to not "run afoul" of Kelly, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Speaking of Trump doing dumb things, this might explain a lot of their problems. On top of that, this is a President who has aides who can ignore what he's saying. This is actually a thing.

Ahahah Trump sounds LIT. What a pro at life, with his brutal political takedowns.
One particularly vicious blowup came when Trump learned during a helicopter flight that then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort suggested that Trump should do fewer TV appearances and let him speak for the campaign.Trump ordered the helicopter pilot to decrease altitude so he could call Manafort on his cell phone.
“Did you say I shouldn’t be on TV on Sunday? I’ll go on TV anytime I gddmn fcking want and you won’t say another fcking word about me!” Trump reportedly yelled. “Tone it down? I wanna turn it up! . . . You’re a political pro? Let me tell you something. I’m a pro at life. I’ve been around a time or two. I know guys like you, with your hair and skin . . .”
Lewandowski is particularly effusive in his gushing praise for his former boss, the Post said, calling the unhinged helicopter outburst, “one of the greatest takedowns in the history of the world.”
About the tweet, I find it strange that some politicians and celebrities have people write tweets for them. If I had an account tied to my name, I wouldn't want anyone making tweets or statuses from it except me. I wouldn't trust someone else that much to represent my own thoughts and feelings.
'Somebody else wrote this from my account' is the oldest trick in the Mafia playbook.
Vote: Impeach Trump
If Town let's this slide, they're doomed.
