But at the moment there is zero evidence that Russia influenced the election
There is a shitload of evidence that Russia influenced the election, you mean to say there is no evidence as to how much. Namely if it changed the course of the election or not.
Frankly that isn't the issue. The issue is that a foreign country aggressively and illegally (via hacking) trying to influence your election is a Bad Thing, no matter how effective it turned out or not. Especially when that country is a adversary.
Russia meddling in elections was previously the sort of thing kept to the former USSR countries, that they would even attempt it with the US at all is quite frightening in of itself.
It is further frightening that Trump goes above and beyond any need he has to defend Russia/Putin at every turn regardless of the topic and accusing party.
Certainly the idea that he is a Russian puppet remains the domain of conspiracy theory. But you don't need that to be freaked out by the president of the United States being really keen on aggressively standing up for the leader of the authoritarian world.if there was evidence action would have been taken by now.
You should uh…pay more attention?

I quite simply wanted to see how other members (I would say 'leftists' but I can't account for everyone) would react. An over-reaction is an understatement.
Some of your best friends in the unquestioning Russia fanboy department is the far-left. Careful where you swing that thing comrade!

Trump calls for a national day of patriotism
I think Russia has one like that as well.
Trump, man of the common people, unaware of so-called "Fourth of July".

Punched in the ear too. These are strange times.

We already have veteran's day and the fourth of July. Don't think we need another one unless Trump wants to rile up the anti-Russia crowd. I think Russian people also drink water and breathe air. I could be mistaken.
Yes, they're insanely deep down the "Boy I hate my life and the current world, I will gladly leap down the abyss of populist strongman bullshit".
Except they have the excuse of being completely drowned in state propaganda, so if anything they're more sympathetic than all the morons in first world countries selectively choosing to chug this crap. Indeed, the Russians are people. -

"He advocates for a white homeland for a "dispossessed white race" and calls for "peaceful ethnic cleansing" to halt the "deconstruction" of European culture."
So they can get back to the good old European glory days of violently ethnic cleansing each-other….??

Does this dude entirely miss that the undercurrent of the European far-right is not just "fuck the immigrants" but also "fuck working together with all other Europeans" lol.

Carefully and peacefully places an Arab outside the borders of Europe.
Smiles, wistfully, as the Arab stumbles off into a desert. Waves quietly. Wipes away bittersweet tear.
Turns around and places entirety of Latvia into an extermination camp. -

Elizabeth Warren is going to be speaking on the Common. Sweet. It's SOMETHING to look forward to.
Ivanka Trump will tackle cyber bullying (a legit cause) alongside a cyber bully…
That's a fair cause, and one that needs to be addressed more. But isn't that sort of thing supposed to be done by the President's WIFE, not his DAUGHTER?

lol, whoops, I got Melania Trump mixed up with Ivanka Trump. I wonder why…
It was actually Melania Trump who decided to make cyber bullying one of her priorities as First Lady. Still, a legit cause but she'll be doing it alongside a cyberbully so I wonder if her husband will learn anything from her efforts.

Investigation committees are making public right now some of the Russia ties they've already confirmed in case the president cuts off the investigations in the very near future.
Again, it's no longer a question of "if" Trump has ties to Russia and them intervening on his behalf, but "how much." and if Trump personally knew about it.
(Given his behavior, he probably did. But can't prove that yet.)
According to the Times’ reporting, however, the counterintelligence investigation is focused on contacts between Russia and members of Trump’s campaign team, including former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former foreign policy adviser Carter Page, and longtime Republican operative Roger Stone.
The inclusion of Page is of particular interest. Just last week, incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters, “Carter Page is an individual whom the president-elect does not know.” According to Trump, that wasn’t true: last year, during an interview with the Washington Post, Trump singled out Page as one of only a handful of people who were advising him on matters of foreign policy.
TPM’s Josh Marshall summarized the landscape nicely: “Just to state this clearly, that means that on the eve of Trump’s inauguration, the nation’s top law enforcement and intelligence agencies are pursuing a counter-intelligence probe of contacts and payments between key members of his campaign and Russia. We have not been here before.”

Yeah, that's double whammy to his legacy(not that i think Trump will be able to do much damage,he WILL fall in line sooner or later regarding China)..

I got the vibe that for Donald, every woman is disposable.Even his daughters. After all he objectified his daughter in the same way he used to do that to other women.
Really,if there was ever a woman whose slanted eyes invites immediate distrust Melania would be a top contender(I know it is unfair criticism, but she simply doesn't belong there, much like her husband)….eerily similar...

Already a campaign to have Trump impeached.http://www.politicususa.com/2017/01/20/trump-breaks-presidential-promise-record-time-hats-inaugural-china.html
Trump hats were made in China. So much for american jobs? All president’s break promises, but it is borderline pathological for Trump to look America in the eye and promise to buy American while the goods being worn by his own supporters are made in China.
Trump may have also set the record for fastest promise ever broken as president. He didn’t last 15 minutes from the time he took the oath office to his first broken promise.
If Trump can’t buy American as president-elect, there is no way he intends to buy American as president.

On a happier note, fired inauguration announcer Charlie Brotman got himself a new gig. He is an announcer for the Women's March today.

That's a fair cause, and one that needs to be addressed more. But isn't that sort of thing supposed to be done by the President's WIFE, not his DAUGHTER?
Interesting to note, that the First Lady doesn't have to be -nor was always was- the President's wife. There have been a few times the position has been filled in the past by other female relatives. Though most cases its because the President didn't have a wife to fill the spot or she was ill and unable to fill in, it is exceedingly rare to have someone else fill First Lady duties when there IS an able wife.
Not all First Ladies were the wives of the president. Some presidents found themselves widowed or never married, but needed a White House hostess, so they went to different family members to fill the role. Those who were not wives of the president were:
Martha Jefferson Randolph, Thomas Jefferson’s daughter
Emily Donelson, Andrew Jackson’s niece
Sarah Jackson, Andrew Jackson’s daughter-in-law
Angelica Van Buren, Martin Van Buren’s daughter-in-law
Priscilla Tyler, John Tyler’s daughter-in-law
Harriet Lane, James Buchanan’s niece
Mary McElroy, Chester Arthur’s sister
Rose Cleveland, Grover Cleveland’s sister
Mary McKee, Benjamin Harrison’s daughter
Margaret Woodrow Wilson, Woodrow Wilson’s daughterhttps://mrspresidentblog.wordpress.com/2015/10/17/first-ladies-who-werent-wives/
And before anyone points it out to me yes, I do know there a Martha Jefferson that was the wife of Thomas Jefferson, Martha Jefferson Randolph was their daughter, named after her mother.http://www.firstladies.org/FacinatingFacts.aspx
http://www.firstladies.org/blog/first-ladies-who-never-married-presidents-priscilla-tyler-letty-tyler-semple/ -
But no please, lets keep hearing that "they took the pictures early" or "the weather was bad" or "people were busy" as the reason no one showed up for the innaguration.
-
Hehe low turn out for the inauguration. Also there was a movement to boycott it on TV, there's been many memes like this
So I wonder how many really did turn off their TV instead of watching the inauguration.

Seeing as I recorded it (and I forget if that counts), I'm glad to see my lack of discipline didn't deny Trump's failure. Hopefully this is a sign that the country is sick of him. Of course, I can't rest easy considering I thought that many times during the election.
I also enjoyed seeing that one guy getting punched in the head. Really, there's a lot of little nice things that have come with this inauguration that don't overshadow the one huge horrible thing, but at least we have them.
-
I was really hoping this march would greatly overshadow the inauguration :') and I hope it gets more coverage in the news later on. Super proud and happy this is happening!
Also, I literally slept through Trump's inauguration. Might YouTube his speech sometime, but the comparisons with Bane's speech is entertaining enough. -
Trump just told the CIA that the pictures of yesterday's inauguration were fake despite being taken by the government (and having time stamps) and that there are way less people at the women's march in DC.
Oh and Trump's pick for the CIA just openly came out and said he would bring back waterbording and other cases of torture
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
SAD!

I was skeptical that the photos on the empty stands were cherrypicked, but then even in articles about the inauguration that have nothing to do with attendance you can still see super empty stands lolll
You KNOW thats burning him the fuck up.

The media flipping owes it to us after being all over Trump phenomenon all of the pre-election months.

Trump was meeting with them and told them that government agencies, including intelligence agencies who were monitoring and taking pics throughout the inauguration were lying.
And holy shit did anyone else catch Sean Spicer in his first time as Press Secretary? All he did what whine about fake news and numbers and the. Fled the press room when it came time for the press to ask questions:
-
I saw the press conference too. His statement was just plain ludicrous.

@Robert:
I had breakfast recently with a friend who's a former Republican member of Congress. Here's what he said:
Him: Trump is no Republican. He’s just a big fat ego.
Me: Then why didn’t you speak out against him during the campaign?Him: You kidding? I was surrounded by Trump voters. I’d have been shot.
Me: So what now? What are your former Republican colleagues going to do?
Him (smirking): They’ll play along for a while.
Me: A while?
Him: They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.
Me: And then what?
Him (laughing): They like Pence.
Me: What do you mean?
Him: Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind.
Me: So what?
Him: So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will …
Me: They impeach him?
Him: You bet. They pull the trigger.
Sigh .
-
At this point, it's really just a question of who first decides that Trump is no longer useful to them; Putin or the GOP.
-
^Yep, saw that coming a mile away

Christ, isn't there a provision in the constitution for a president's removal if they're declared unfit? Since that speech was literally the ravings of a madman.
On the plus side, I've read that a number of the CIA agents present felt highly insulted, so good on you Trump, for further antagonizing the organization currently investigating your Russian ties.

It's called impeachment and like someone posted last page the GOP ain't gonna do shit until they get what they want and then they will put all the blame on Trump even though they are the ones drafting all the bills

Isn't impeachment only for criminal charges? I don't think you can impeach someone just because you don't like them or you think they're "unfit". Though Trump's got plenty of things people can accuse (and have accused) him of so I imagine there will be an attempt at some point. Not like it would solve much for the people protesting since it wouldn't put a Democrat in office. Would just be a more predictable Republican.
-
For those who haven't seen Sean Spicer lose his fucking mind earlier
-
Back from the march/rally. Couldn't really hear all of what the speakers said because there were so many people there! Apparently 1.2 MILLION. So many people of all types coming together and walking by the Trump Hotel giving it the finger on the way back. Never been prouder of my country.

Trump is already breaking multiple laws on day one since he didn't separate from his businesses. Huge conflicts of interest.
That's before you get around to the russian ties, the lawsuits, the fraud, giving his family classified information, and whatever his taxes are hiding.
