@Adson:
I noticed what you said long ago, and I trully wanted that Blackbeard was the final boss if the marines didn't exist and the One Piece wasn't about the lost century. but as much as I want, I can't wrap my mind that Blackbeard is a worth oponent for one glorious final, he can't compete against a giant organization even if he has one an ancient weapon.
A giant organization is soon bitten down by civil war in larger war that involves many battles.
The final battles will involve a group of individuals. And pretty much beyond any doubt Oda will give each Strawhat their own final showdown with a fitting foe.
Something he has clearly been tailoring the Blackbeard's for. And not the Marines.
Even with the Marines/Government as final foes we would at the end be seeing 10 vs 10 or 11 vs 11 or whatever amount of SH's there are.
Whitebeard trully said that a great war against the marines will come once One Piece is found.
He didn't say anything about the Marines whatsoever.
This war that will envolve the entirely world will be followed by a mere fight against a bunch of pirates? No way, this is anticlimactic.
The Yonkou are already comparable as forces to essentially the entire Marines. What about a fight with pirates is "mere" in this series.
Nor would the stakes simply be "some pirates fighting" by that point.
You could think of Blackbeard as the last boss for the title of the King of Pirates, after Luffy defeating the other yonkous. And then Luffy will call all pirates against marines.
So you buy into the very much outdated (as of many years now) idea that the Pandora's Box of the true history is just a black and white story about the big mean WG and the awesome rainbow sprinkle secrets of the AK? Really?
You don't know what they'll find with One Piece.
We know it will be gray and not black and white. Or did you maybe miss the part where Rayleigh talks about people coming to their own conclusions about the contents.
Oh and the part where there are superpowered ancient weapons that could destroy the world if in the wrong hands. And the several arcs revolving around this plot point such as Alabasta and Water7?
And they already threated the world in the war against the lost kingdom.
No they didn't. They seem to have threatened the AK. Then promptly took over the world in oppressive yes, but peaceful stable rule that doesn't threaten the world.
They're assholes, but not that kind of asshole.

@Adson:
Are you saing that the WG isn't a candidate to a war that they fear and that'll engulf the world?
You don't even have good sense.
The WG is the evil neutral figure sitting on the Pandora's Box. They are a passive villain, not an active villain like Blackbeard.
They represent the status quo.
In this sense yeah they're ultimately the enemy of the ambitious dreamer's of the world like Luffy and Blackbeard.
They will be destroyed (in their current form and rule anyway) by the big war no doubt.
But that leaves the actual final conflict as one between the two dreamer's, the two forces that represent change.
The positive change (Luffy) and the negative change (Blackbeard). Freedom vs Chaos perhaps.
You can't possibly argue that the WG is an active aggressive foe when it's been sitting around for nearly 1000 years just ruling.
One Piece is all about the lost century and what WG did in the past. Oda is screaming that Luffy will inherit the will to fight WG.
The Lost History involves a lot more than just a bad that was done by the WG lol.
