Not sure if this is the right place, but I'm having a huge argument with my friend, him saying that everyone thought that Sabo was dead, and me saying that no one thought Sabo was dead. Clear this up for us so we can move onto something else??
Did you think Sabo was dead?
-
-
Just the "One Piece green confirmed it" idiots.
-
^he actually brought that up and i just stopped talking to him at that point
-
So um…what's the point of this thread? An excuse to make fun of the people that didn't believe the obvious? Doesn't sound like a very pleasant, productive thread.
And how you can you think "both" can be true? How does that make any sense?
-
But Dragon saved Bluejam. Right? What happened to Bluejam???

Just trying to prove a point to him, not to make fun of him
-
That it could go either way. The choice is for people who weren't fully convinced that yes, Sabo was alive, or no, he wasn't.
But Dragon saved Bluejam. Right? What happened to Bluejam???
Unfortunately, he was later killed by Akainu. It was deemed to tragic for readers to handle, so the scene was cut.

I think most anticipated that he would make a comeback, but showing up NOW to fight for the Mera Mera no Mi? Bad fanfic level.
At least that's what I would have said last week.

What might be obvious for some, might not be obvious for others.
Not everybody spends time searching for hints in every single panel, and there was potential for red herrings.

Zombie Sabo.

Now that would be a more interesting question to ask.

And what point are you trying to make? That he was wrong? Does this even deserve it's own thread just to make a point like that?
What is there to even discuss?
"I was right. The signs pointed to yes, Sabo is alive because of the cups."
vs
"The Green Book!"
/end thread
I mean, I can't possibly see any point in this aside from "I was right! Lets gang up on the suckers and make fun of them."And in terms of being on both ways… that still doesn't make any sense. You CAN'T go either way when it comes to Sabo being alive or dead. There's only TWO options. It's like going in an elevator and saying "Hm, I'm not sure maybe I'll go both directions."
@King Cannon: Okay fine. I guess there's ZOMBIE Sabo.
-
-
I don't see anything wrong with this thread considering half the people on this forum make it their life's work to make fun of people who don't get the "obvious", as in don't dedicate so much time to One Piece lol
-
General consensus at the time was that Sabo was alive because he had no dream fullfilled/passed on, and his death wasn't shown or drawn out emotionally… and because it'd serve no point to have Luffy lose another brother, and makes much more sense that he can be a reward to help make things better instead.
That Dragon was shown picking someone up like 2 weeks later sealed the deal.
Anyway, no one is going to vote "no" now, and I'm sure there was a similar poll 3 years ago.
All that really remains is for Monet to show back up now.
Anyway, if you really want to see the discussion, check the chapter 588 thread to see who was really saying yes or no at the time. (And maybe the 589 as well.)

Huh. I wonder if anyone took Greg up on that bet and now owes him 200 dollars.

Yeaaaaaah! Time to dig up some old crap and smush it in their stupid faces
(PS: Wasn't there a dedicated thread to this question? I could have sworn there was a "Is Sabo Dead or Alive?" sort of thread)

[qimg]http://oregonfirst.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/b-witch-hunt.jpg[/qimg]I thought there was but a search didn't turn it up.
Mighta just been heavy chapter discussion at the time.
Or Monet's stupid thread.
-
Wait wait, so people or me can create threads with polls to help settle argument between me and a friend or someone here?
-
This post is deleted!

Do you just enjoy making threads that YOU KNOW no one is going to approve of and will eventually get locked?

To me he died when he refused his status as a noble. Fucking farmer.

Can we talk about this? Because after everything has sunk in, I'm actually getting a baaad feeling about this chapter and its ramifications for the remainder of the story.
-
I'd save it for either the Mera Mera or predictions thread. We're here to make fun of people! Constructivism is not recommended.
-

I don't like to butt in.
But I felt that too right after I stopped fanboying all over the place.. -

Could you elaborate on that baaad feeling?

But Dragon saved Bluejam. Right? What happened to Bluejam???
Hahahah. People saying this made me give up on this section of the forum forever.
-
I thought Oda had confirmed him dead, didn't know that was from a non-canon source.
-
I didn't really think anything of it. Was open to both happening.
-
I thought he was alive.
I should elaborate. I'm a complete idiot with no critical thinking or observational skills and terrible short-term memory. I thought he was alive, but only because people on APForums convinced me he was. I either missed the scene with Dragon taking in an injured person, forgot it, or thought it was a random person they were taking in. Before then, I thought he was dead because that's what I took from the manga. Another thing I learned from joining is that Buggy is a Shichibukai. Again, I either missed the scene with the messenger bat or forgot about it.
-
Pretty sure 80% of the readers were sure of his survival and out of that 80%, 70% guessed him to be associated with Dragon's Revolutionaries.
-

Since TBBT everyone knows about Schrödinger's cat, who could also be alive or dead at the same time until you open the box. Oda opened the box aaaand… Sabo is ALIVE! No, but seriously, read the chapter where Dragon stopped at the home Island of Zoro. Of course now nobody says anymore he was dead. IMO the only surprise to me is that Oda brings him onscreen so early. THAT was unpredictable. But it's a nice pattern: on the beginning of Paradise Luffy met Ace, now in the beginning of the NW he meets Sabo. I love such patterns. BTW: Not even the trolls are voting for Yes, interesting...
-
I wasn't a member of this forum when Luffy's flashback started and ended, however I had a huge argument with my buddy about Sabo. I always thought Sabo was alive and under the Revolutionary Banner. Though, this thread may not last that long.

But, these are the things that make OP so outstanding. Oda throws out little hints in the smallest panels. Later on if sumone wonders bout things like Sabo's survival, Oda can refer to that Panel and says "Go on, look it up!" With a more longterm memory and passion for the small details, fans could enjoy OP even more.

I do like how Oda drops all these hints to events that will come later, and it's fun to notice and speculate about them. I'm just too dumb to notice them on my own XD
-
Everyone should have guessed Sabo would become a revolutionary from the moment he was introduced. It's in his nature.
-
Oh cool, 7 people picked the "Schrödinger's Sabo" option.
But seriously, I never thought he was dead since the last chapter we saw him. Even when you don't consider Oda's track record, it's the fact that a) he's Luffy's brother that told me Oda wouldn't just kill him off-panel. Too significant of a character to do that. Plus the three sake cups on Ace's grave and the cover page of grown up Luffy, Ace, and Sabo only helped.

hardcore one piece fans were very sure that SABO was alive and so was i. forabout 95%.
The bigger question is… is there a possibility that Kuina(Zoro) is alive??? I personally never felt that possibility was more than 15%, but tashigi does look like her though :)
It would be crazy if Kuina(Zoro) comes back in one piece though, but they would have to put a lot of time in explaining how she survived death :)

Kuina was buried.

I think it was super obvious that the injured person dragon took on his ship was sabo and that he eventually would become a revolutionary, wich is perfect for him, because he hates the nobles.
-
I was about 90% sure Sabo was alive and I was waiting for his return to the story.
I'm not crazy about him having mera mera no mi… sight... -

Damn you, you've figured out my nefarious plot!! Just you wait, my 2 page threads that die within hours will eventually bring about the fall of Arlong Park Forums!!
-
It was extremely obvious that Sabo had not died and was taken under Dragon's wing. I also assumed he would return one day and eat the Flame Flame Fruit. It just makes sense. I never thought however that he's show up out of no where this soon and participate in this tournament to obtain the fruit. I figured we wouldn't see him until after the first Emperor was defeated.

Yeah same here. And I thought that Burgess would eat the fruit.

The panel with Ivankov going "these injuries! They're horrible!" couldn't have made it more obvious.

He saved Bluejam or someone else

The best thing was when Green came out and said that Sabo was dead
A bunch of morons harped on that saying SEE SEE CANON PROOF SEE HE'S DEAD
even after it was explained how the databooks are complete crock
