what is coming out of Kelly Funk's right fist on the 1st page after the cover story?

What do you mean by that?
In the one hand he is holding an oponent… with the other one he smashes another oponent!Maybe the gloves irritated u.

no, I mean the black curved "extension of his right boxer glove"

no, I mean the black curved "extension of his right boxer glove"
isn't that the cape from another contestant?
-
no, I mean the black curved "extension of his right boxer glove"
Thats just an opponent in the air, Kelly most likely charged through him, they just drew it weird and the black from the opponents cape and the glove line up.

thanks, i didn't think of it as a cape because the other two gladiators don't wear one either.

The thing is people will always complain about something, back PH was the children were annoying and those same people who were angry about that arc are now saying "But PH was a good arc with a lot of stuff" but when the arc was on motion they were bitching an the same thing is happening now, the don't want to see the tournament because they already know that Luffy will win his block, well they know that Luffy will become the pirate king, why don't they stop reading the story because apparently they know what will happen also the people that are bitching are disappointed because Oda hasn't shown Law/Zoro's group but If Oda show them now the're going to bitch about Oda jumping from scene to scene when he should develop one scene an then go to the other one (PH also had people going off about this).but i agree,as i said, until now i enjoyed every chapter of the tournament,as long as oda gives me something interesting i'm ok,hell world building is one of the main reasons i like onepiece.the fact is,there was no world building here,no interesting action,no plot development.
was anyway a necessary evil due to the fact that the other fighters must go down somehowThis chapter gave us info about level 6 and their whereabouts that we might learn from Jeango on this arc, gave us Don an his hatred toward Garp and what seems to a pretty big deal involving the two of them, gave us the no fear expresions of Diamanté/Bartolomeo/Cavendish and showed once more a no so good side of Rebeca also Jeango's comment about sheryu when he should have also mentioned the other three level 6 prisoner s that are in BB's crew.
The two war ships can arrive any minute nowno real info here, apart from the part regarding why chinjo hate garp. Also,is only logic that he only talked about shiliew..it's the only one who took part in the jailbreak "team" toghether with luffy and his party and teach's crew

I think luffy is gonna eat the mera mera fruit, like Blackbeard ate two fruits since his body structure is irregular, as Marco said - and this is IMO because of the "D." in both of their names; furthermore, I think luffy needs this power up in contrast to zoro because we already saw him severely injured in FI and he was even defeated by CC - he could have given him the finishing blow, but zoro after being put to sleep even destroyed that little hill - and maybe he would have woken up to fight, if the enemy came to check whether they are dead or not. And I think zoro has a trump card with his left eye in battle whereas we already saw most of luffy's attacks.
-
There is no difference to what's happening here right now to what's happening in every anime episode, people whining, screaming, complaining etc and when I tell em it's annoying already they say "it's opinion, they can say whatever they want". Well you should let people say what they want here too.
Anyways every chapter is awesome to me, like this one is. I could care less about breaks since I'm so busy I hardly feel or notice the breaks.
-
And I think zoro has a trump card with his left eye in battle whereas we already saw most of luffy's attacks.
Of course he has. Something terrifying like mangekyou sharingan which swordsman skill wasn't needed.
-

Blackbeard is awfully obese but i can't think of something wrong with Luffy's body. He also knows that he can't eat a second devil fruit or else he will destruct, and i don't think he's that stupid to risk it.
I think luffy needs this power up in contrast to zoro
Mhmm, yeah.. Luffy. I really think that we haven't seen the full extend of his power. Hody was weak. Ceasar was sneaky, due to his devil fruit. Otherwise he got physically beaten really easily by Luffy. I disagree that Luffy is in any immediate need of any power up.
-
Another brilliant tournament chapter! I really don't want the tournament to end; it baffles the mind that some people would prefer that Oda rush through this arc to get to other plot elements (which essentially amount to more fighting, just outside of a ring.) Why not enjoy the ride? Those last few pages are so incredibly exciting - two powerhouses pushing the competition out of the way, solely focused on each other - exactly what I was hoping for. And that first clash!: two haki-infused fists connecting and sending out a shockwave, the likes of which we haven't seen since Luffy vs Lucci. These are two equals, and I cannot wait to see how their conflict unfolds.
Of course, we're not kidding ourselves - we know it's going to be a short fight. With everything else going on, including the rest of the tournament to cover, it wouldn't surprise me if it ended within the next chapter. Most likely with Luffy surpassing the might of Chinjao, leading to Chinjao saying something like, "We will conclude our battle when next we meet, Straw Hat!" (Hinting at a possible visit to Kano Country in the future … but that's the Chinjao-fan in me talking; I really just want more of the guy!)
-
Although most of us just thought that block C was gonna' be a breeze for Luffy, with no known names in there, I'm glad to see what seems to be a suprisingly good brawl between Chinjao and Luffy. It'll be good to see a haki fight with no crazy DF powers thrown in as well, just a good old fashioned punch-up. There isn't a break next week, right? The increasing frequency of breaks are killing me.
-
Everyone seems to underestimate Don
Every week it's oh okay he did well there but next week he'll be creamed easily
Next week they'll fight out the whole chapter mark my words
-
There isn't a break next week, right?
No break next week, but there is one the week after that.
-
Man, I'm a bit behind this week. Just read the chapter!! Hell, that was awesome, no amazing new info, other than a bit about Don and Garps history, but loads of good action!! Alos nice appearance from Diamante at the end!!
Really looking forward to seeing how this battle pans out next week!! We knew it would be a Luffy Vs Don C finale
I wonder if we'll see much of Block D, or just be told the outcome, I hope not. We all know it's between Cavendish & Rebecca and unless the latter has some hidden power (which is quite possible), it's a no brainer.
So expecting Jesus Burgess, Bartolomeo, Luffy & Cavandish for Round 2. Anyone know what happens after this Battle Royale round? Will there me a Semi? I know Diamante, Senor Pink, Dellinger, Lao G & Machvise are due to get involved at some point…..........?
Man, Teach is gonna be pissed when Luffy eventually sends Burgess home in a boddy bag, lol!!

but, i got a feeling that luffy can handle don with not much trouble, kinda like showing to don the new era power… because there's DD and the admiral waiting...
and he have to face DD's crew in the arena before that. -

So much bullshit here. I will only state that for me there is two types of one piece fans. 1: fans in their 20s or older with reading skills who love the ploy, story etch. 2 : fans who see one piece as a dragon ball type manga. You are clearly in the second category. How is luffy weaker than zoro ; give proof or stfu. And I m sick of hearing about zoro eye from second rate poster. Guess what. It is a wound and only a wound probably. If this was Naruto u could expect a retarded power up pop out of this eyes, but it is not.
Now luffy got wounded because he fought a super powered up fisherman underwater, but he completely own him in the end. How u see him worse than zoro tnks too that;Hate

I agree, we're also just at the beginning of the second half of OP, if it's going to be anything like the first half in terms of character growth, Luffy will be expected to work for his power ups, he'll have to hit a wall that forces him to think about a new way of fighting that may or may not come attached with risks that he'll have to work around. Powering up Luffy this early on with the Mera Mera would undermine all the training he did during the timeskip, and also undermine the potential expansion of the conventional Haki which seems to be, as Rayleigh described, the basics.

Were the quarter finals are concerned I think each block winner will face a member of the Donquixote Family, excluding Diamante himself. Winners(be it a block winner or quixote family member) will advance to semi-finals and the semi-finals winners will advance to the finals. Whoever wins the finals will probably have the right to challenge Diamante for the Mera Mera no Mi.
I really hate Diamante's attitude and design. Burgess or Luffy beating his face in can't happen soon enough for me.

I'd rather see Luffy eat Blackbeard and acquire his powers… It's been emphasized he has an abnormal body and that he's the only one who can obtain two powers. Nothing to do with the D.
And why does every closed eye have to become a sharingan? It's a fucking plague.

I would assume, if a bounty hunter was to take down a Shichibukai who's not currently on Marine mission, the only problem the bounty hunter will face is lack of bounty - and not a punishment from WG.
The defeated Shichibukai however, is likely to be replaced.so its like the WG can call for protection anytime from the shichibukai and the vice versa can't happen. Instead they are replaced. Sounds like they are being used big time to me
-
How is someone who needs protection supposed to instill fear in other pirates
They might as well change their name to the seven Helmeppos if they did that
-

That protection could be the source of the fear. For example, it's why nobody fucks with the World Nobles.

If Luffy ate the fruit there would be no point in him developing moves like Red Hawk. I think Dressrosa arc might be one of the better arcs like Enies and Water 7. I feel there's going to be a lot of emotional jumbo and revealed secrets around Doflamingo as if it wasn't obvious. I liked the interaction between Chinjao and Luffy in this chapter, reminded me of Luffy and Zoro during Alabasta when Mr. 5 and goldenweek were in the way.
I hope we get to see more from the strawhats besides how crazy they are, want to see them make better use of their abilities and enhanced knowledge of their ship roles. If the SH's are fighting the marines, instead of Luffy Gear Thirding the warship all the time, Franky could say where the weakpoint is and try to get someone to hit there like Jimbei(under the hull).
Also, Zoro's fighting style got more boring over time. Asura mode or whatever demon eye he has hidden under that scar look like they could be interesting, but I'd like to see more swordless style or something.
Sanji's good how he is always something interesting, fighting with his legs only was interesting enough.
It'd be nice to see Luffy fight a moderately strong swordsman for once instead of Zoro taking all the fights to get stronger. I'd like to see how Luffy would fair against one, maybe Wano has that in store for us.
Chopper's been particularly disappointing recently. Already immobilized by his own power twice since FI and he went Monster Point just to K.O his first opponent. I'm not sure if Oda was just trying to show off his control over it, but that could've waited. Heavy Point was nice enough already. Might as well see more of his doctoring skills. If he's such a great doctor, he should know the weakpoints of the human body and have a good understanding of the anatomy of various creatures. Something he showed fighting Luffy's zombie in Thriller Bark.
Nami and Robin better have some legitimate enemies to fight this time and not be reduced to fodder fighters. The only real fights Robin had were in Skypiea and Thriller Bark. Nami's power is just godly already so she should be able to take some hits and fend for herself. If we have to resort to giving Robin enemies with no neck to make her ability seem less over-powered then so be it. Maybe if Robin fights a logia without haki in this arc we'll get to see how she uses her brain and ability to beat him/her.
Still waiting for Franky to combine with the Sunny, Oda. Make it happen.
Usopp's best fight in my opinion was against Luffy. Really showed his resilience and ambition, we need another like that. Maybe when he finds out what he and his 8,000 dwarf followers will be fighting for he'll get more serious and show off his sniper skills. I'm not liking the pop greens too much, doesn't fit his sharpshooting theme. The trampolia yes because it can give way to other strategies, but some of them are just fodder clearers.
I'd personally just like to see Luffy pull some meat from his pockets before a fight again and hopefully be reminded of how important his hat is to him.
I'm really hoping that Brooke has a big role in the arc. I think that the people of Dressrosa don't really like Doflamingo and are deluding themselves or are aware of what would happen to them if they admit their discontent. Maybe Brooke will be able to use his music to move their spirits and get them to admit their long-held hatred for Doflamingo which might get DD upset to know that his subjects were harbouring such a grudge. By then a lot of people will be against him and we might see what he's capable of when pushed into a corner.DD doesn't seem to have a problem with throwing a way lives once they have no use for him, but he also seems somewhat merciful and forgiving and we know that he actually cares for his nakama like Luffy does.
-
I can totaly see Croc being all you better be nice to me or i'll run and get Akainu
No but really people disrespect them enough as it is without them being thought of as wimpy momma's boys
-
That protection could be the source of the fear. For example, it's why nobody fucks with the World Nobles.
What in the hell are you talking about? Unless you suggest the WG send Admirals to help pirates then leave the nobles out of it.
They are still pirates, and are alliances with WG to help them if needed in return they freeze their bounty.
WG want competent pirates that can hold the power balance, not some weak thugs that need help from WG.
-
@jabso:

Their crimes are forgiven, as well as all their subordinates.

I wasn't really arguing anything, just refuting the claim that people who need protecting can't instill fear.

well that would be funny, but it won't happen.

wich is exactly what he is, and how can you say his pop greens don't fit? From scratch he was about sniping with special effect "bullets". What do you think he used before them? lol

To add on to this, we're on the 4th arc after the timeskip. This is the post-TS equivalent of the Baratie arc (speaking of which, it's a funny coincidence that Luffy is now fighting Don Chinjao, and at Baratie he fought Don Krieg). Imagine how silly things would have felt if he'd developed gear second that early in the story. Hell, even if you want to go with it being more akin to the 4th arc in the Grand Line, that was Drum Island. Either way, unless Luffy ends up fighting Doflamingo or an admiral this arc (which is, admittedly, entirely possible), I don't expect to see a significant power up for him for at least another arc (and that will likely be an incremental improvement on something he already does).
If Luffy is going to get another power-up on par with gear second/gear third, I would guess we won't see it for probably another 100 chapters; we're only a little more than 100 chapters into the New World, and gear second didn't appear until chapter 387. While obviously Oda isn't required to make such power-ups equidistant or a certain number of chapters after a beginning, it's a good rough guideline based on how he likes to have some symmetry in the story, and how quickly things are likely to progress. Based on that, I would guess that we're unlikely to see a completely new ability for Luffy until at least around chapter 780, and quite possibly not until near the end (chapter 980-ish, which may not be right at the very end, but is likely to be getting close to the last major arc, at least)… if ever.
-
I think Dressrosa arc might be one of the better arcs like Enies and Water 7.
lol, probably not a good start or comparison. Dressrosa's been pretty good so far, particularly refreshing given that past few arcs, and hopefully the saga as a whole maintains the momentum and quality and doesn't become like Enies Lobby.

Enies Lobby = Bad
Water 7 = GoodI don't think that this arc will be anywhere near the quality of Water 7,
but we can only hope (as you said) that it doesn't devolve into Enies Lobby. -
And I thought I was the only one that didn't like Enies Lobby.
Me too.
Everything after the Robin's flashback is boring. -
And I thought I was the only one that didn't like Enies Lobby. I do think Water Seven was one of One Piece's better arcs though. Not sure why you wouldn't like that.
Oh my bad, I only meant Enies Lobby. Water 7 had a strong start, I thought, but it started going downhill after the assassination. Sogeking was the saving grace. I mean I actually have low standards, so I enjoyed just about every arc of One Piece, but I care about quality and can tell the difference between the good and the bad. And no, I'm not contradicting myself.
-
Me too.
Everything after the Robin's flashback is boring.I liked Franky vs. Fukurou though, and the entire post Enies Lobby arc.
But I think the volume or so before the flashback, where everyone was running around Enies Lobby, was a bit of a mess too.@Brennen: Ah, ok then, I agree. Although I thought it started going downhill post Franky's flashback, I did really like the interaction between Usopp and Franky before that. Then it had a volume of waiting for Agua laguna, and a volume of pretty sub-par sea train fights.
Nah, you're not contradicting. A lot of manga are more enjoyable than they objectively are. -
If Luffy ate the fruit there would be no point in him developing moves like Red Hawk.
It's Oda-like to first show us luffy using rubber with fire by means of haki , red hawk, to tune us in to luffy using the mera mera fruit. http://online.mangaraw.net/One-Piece-Chapter-703-4-8374.htmlLuffy himself said that he'd be happy to eat it -word by word translation: "Although with me, there is the gomu gomu, so i can't eat it, i don't want so-and-so to take Ace's ability" in the same panel, there is a flashback with Ace saying:"with this mera mera ability i will…"(become PK or make Whitebeard one: I am confused about this) so i think luffy will make Ace's will true and let the eater of this fruit, that is to say himself, become PK. That's how many shounen mangaka would come to terms with the death of important characters like Ace in One Piece,
! Jiraiya's and Neji's will (Will of the Fire) living on in Naruto's heart in Naruto, and Kaito living on as a girl in HunterXHunter.

Oh dear.. So even after him stating he won't eat it you believe he will? And Red Hawk is his Ace-memento move, plus the only person EVER to be able to take a second DF is BB, because of his "strange body", and Sanji has been using fire moves before Luffy, so all your arguments are plainly baseless.

While Sanji does tend to fire move more frequently now, he was the first to ever use fire. Franky and Usopp before him have also used fire on several cases. Usopp have used fire more often, in more different attacks, and over a longer time than Luffy has used Red Hawk. That reinforces the "your arguments are plainly baseless"

There was no need to in my case, I just read it unintentionally because I'm an idiot and I opened the spoiler before even reading the complete post ( a bad habit of mine, yeah ). I appreciate it anyways :P
