Man, gotta love this place. I go from the subreddit where everyone is having a blast cracking jokes and excitedly breaking down what parts of the chapter they enjoyed - then come here and it's the usual doom and gloom. "I dread reading this", "Pudding ruins everything", "the problems with this arc…"
It's sad how negative l this place has become.
Loved the chapter, love what Oda's doing with Pudding and I can't wait for the cake!

RE: Chapter 828: 1 and 2
So yeah, after this chapter I officially don't trust Pudding. I'm sure it's been said, but her comment about "Sanji has hearts for eyes and a black leg" are things she could have simply gleaned from his wanted poster.
Plus we only see a shadowy outline of Sanji in her story, which seems like an over-the-top cliche with the romantic garden, the bouquet …The only thing that throws me off is Pudding's line, "He knows so much about sweets, he even taught me a few things." Is it public knowledge that Sanji is a chef? Or information that Germa 66 gave to Big Mom, to appeal to her love of food?
After all, Big Mom is completely aware that Luffy is on the island. Maybe it isn't even coincidence that they and Pudding met ... but then again, that could just be Luffy's luck that he chose to eat her cafe seemingly at random. So either Pudding goes full evil or it's a Violet-type deal, where she's forced against her will. I personally hope it's the former because we just did Violet, but we'll see how it plays out.

Incredible colour spread!
I would be perfectly content if this was the last we saw of Jack, but I have a feeling he'll be back … -
RE: Volume 80 Predictions/Discussions
yay Oda you've got enough time to show the background of worthless characters like Rebecca but when it comes to characters that actually matter you suddenly don't have time anymore and drop it on some ugly fillers in the anime, gg.
Yes, the heart of the Dressrosa arc is "worthless". Man these Rebecca haters make me laugh.

RE: Chapter 761: The Ope Ope no Mi
My issue with the immortality operation thing is the fact that Law claims to have no interest in it, even though it has already been etablished that law was pretty much planing to sacrifise himseln order to buy time for the strawhats to destroy the smile factory in order to pittning Kairo against doffy. We know that was a pretty risky bet because it didn't work out as simple as he though, plus he had to go through the process of kidnappning Caesar in the process. If he was planing to sacrifise himself to avenge corazon, why didn't he just go to a yonkou or like sakazuki and offer immortality in Exchange for doflamingos head? That way he might also have been able to see some of that mayhem unleashed from doflamingos death, which was his big regret in the plan he decided to go with.
I mean if he was already prepared to to die in order avenge corazon, and he had like the most convenient bargaian chip at hands (immortality) why go for the more tedious and risky option (kidnappning Caesar and betting everything on the strawhats)?
Should have went straight to Blackbeard and said like "you know this doflamingo guy? He is suplying one if your main rivals with a DF user army. Kill him, and allow me to witness the aftermath, and ill make you fucking immortal. And then you can steal my Df after im dead, right? Deal?"
BB also has the D-thing going, which law is betting on.
You make a good point, however I think it's important to note that out of everyone, Law chose to ally with Luffy. Now, whether that was because he knew he could easily gain his favour after the way Law saved Luffy at Marineford, or if Law just saw the potential in Luffy after the events of Marineford, I don't know.
But I think even Law wouldn't like the idea of a genuine asshole like Blackbeard or Kaido becoming immortal. Revenge or not, for all his bravado I don't think Law would die with a good conscience knowing what he'd unleash on the world if he made Blackbeard immortal.

RE: Chapter 761: The Ope Ope no Mi
Its a translation error. "Sea Beasts" are attacking the port, they're from Hodi Jones's failed coup attempt. They're not the same thing as the "Sea Kings".
Ahh, thanks for clearing that up, you're right! Now that I look at them again, I recognise them as Hody's pets. Hmm…

RE: Chapter 761: The Ope Ope no Mi
Whoa whoa wait a minute…
The Sea Kings are rampaging, attacking a port.
Shirahoshi, aka Poseidon, has the ability to control the Sea Kings.
Caribou knows Shirahoshi is Poseidon.
We last saw Caribou being dragged away by X-Drake, who we must assume is working for Kaidou, as Caribou attacked one of Kaidou's allies.Could it be? Did X-Drake dump Caribou in front of Kaidou to explain himself? And did Caribou, to bargain for his life, tell Kaidou about Shirahoshi's power? After all, we did see Caribou say at Fishman Island that he was going to tell "that person". Maybe it was Kaidou all along.
Then would this mean... Kaidou had Shirahoshi kidnapped? Jinbe would've been unaware because he was away from Fishman Island.
This is what I've been wanting/waiting to happen for years! But it'll be probably something completely different, of course.

RE: Chapter 760: The Same Stakes
Is Oda still writing One Piece? The hell was that backstory? Dofla just went from great to dull character.
I got the opposite impression. How often do we see a backstory for a villain like this?
Doflamingo's Tenryubito father wanting to live a normal life, the Tenryubito rejecting Doflamingo - this is fascinating stuff. It only adds to Doflamingo's mystique.I completely disagree with Aohige that it makes Doflamingo come off as "less cool" saying he had a hard life. Dofla has no reason to think otherwise. I mean, it's not like he knows Luffy or Robin's pasts. He's a completely arrogant person, so it fits his character to think that his tough childhood elevates him above others.

RE: AP Character Popularity Poll
This is impossible for me because I love them all equally, but for the purposes of this thread, here is my list!
1. Luffy
2. Franky
3. Brook
4. Robin
5. Drake
6. Fujitora
7. Whitebeard
8. Sabo and Koala
9. Chinjao
10. Kyros
11. Doflamingo
12. Akainu
13. Lucci
14. Enel
15. HackHonourable mentions: Caesar Clown, Fisher Tiger, Bartholomew and Bellamy
So it's not coincidence that a lot of my new favourites have appeared in the last couple of arcs. I am loving every minute of it. Oda is just on a roll with all these interesting/cool new characters & designs. The Colosseum alone was a buffet of awesome and varied people.
