When Ace was still on the scaffold, I thought he'd be executed right before Luffy could reach him.
Well, as we all know, this didn't happen and Luffy freed him. After he was freed and on the run, I was absolutely sure that he was safe and would survive… hahahaha.
Wrongness in general

Really, I was convinced that Luffy will beat him. I thought he was going to inhale him into his lungs, put his head under the water and then exhale him into the water.
But that would require Luffy thinking and being smart and whatnot. -
Luffy has shown to be intuitively very smart at times when it matters. It wouldn't be out of character for him to use such a move.

His battles against Crocodile, Enel and Magellan come to mind for this. He's very good at quickly adapting his style.

I rly had higher hopes for the G5.
I thought Smoker would gain a great boost to his powers and that the G5 would consist out of a handful of powerful marines who would later hunt Luffy.Ehh no, G5 had actually only Vergo who would be considered strong and just fodder otherwise..also the PH-arc somehow destroyed Smokers threat to the SHs for me.
I mean he was so owned the whole arc..after a two year time skip he seems to be fodder by now instead of gaining even more power while being with that special G5 forces.
So G5 was dissappointing for me and weakend in my eyes Smoker while not bringing any good antagonists for the SHs.(well, Vergo was cool, but also done rly quickly) -
I only just recently realized that Zoro's first name is Roronoa. All these years I've been reading it as "Roanoa".

The release of the chapter by mangapanda is wrongness to the extreme.

I never read the vast majority of Davy Back Arc, but way way back when I hadn't gotten back into One Piece since Skypiea (I must admit, 4 kids was my first experience), I read a summary of it on the wiki. I actually thought the Strawhats were gonna walk away with an army and several ships like Krieg/Whitebeard.
-
-
I thought Franky fam would join because they became outlaws by helping them at Enies Lobby and become fodder. Also thought Marguerite would join, and I thought each Strawhat would have their own story arc adventure when they separated (thank god for the timeskip, that would have taken forever.) And, in the theory I had I thought some people they met would join the crew, so the crew would get some sort of mass recruitment.
thank god i was wrong about all of this

I geniunely thought that Shanks when talking about Teach giving him the scar - he was referring to the middle scar of the 3. I had this idea that Shanks had recieved each one of the 3 scars seperately.
Of course seeing Teach's weapon that blew that idea away - but still would have been awesome story having 3 scars hitting the same area but different battles.

We would have people theorizing about the power of Shanks' left eye that makes enemies focus solely on it.

When I first heard Barto's name I thought/hoped he might have some connection to Kuma.

Before the colored version of chapter 714 came out, I assumed Rebecca had blonde hair for some reason.

oh man, same here!
I thought Usopp ate a DF during the TS..

Oh. I didn't realise my wrongness had to be the equivalent of a googlewhack. That makes me feel better that other people thought it though.

I really thought that Fujtora's power has nothing to do with manipulating gravity.

I thought they will find the city if gold in Skypiea as in with the gold still intact and they do fill Merry with so much gold up to the limit of Merry. Damm you Eneru.
-
I thought Garp and Roger are brothers,
then I thought they are both Luffys grandpas, with their children in a Romeo and Juliet relationship.
Oh, and I thought Smoker will become Luffys "Garp". -
I just found this video, which fits this thread perfectly

At around the 1:30 mark you would think it was one of them "calming technques" videos.

Turned out they were a bunch of rowdy, dirty, and goofy marines. I found them better and lovable hahaha
Smoker's not fodder by any stretch but his threat level to the SH's was certainly decreased by that arc. Going by Luffy's remarks though, him and Smoker will probably still have one big showdown in the future. However, the emotional payoff of seeing Luffy finally seriously injure and beat Smoker has been significantly lessened by the latter's defeats at PH. Imagine, for those here reading One Piece since the beginning, they've witnessed Luffy get beaten and resort to fleeing whenever he encountered Smoker. Heck, Oda didn't even have Ace fight Smoker seriously as if he was saving the latter for Luffy and for him alone in the future. But PH comes along. That's my sole disappointment.

I expected Bounty Hunters to have some significance in this series, guess im wrong lol.

I'm kinda hoping that some of the new powerful marines brought in by Sakazuki's conscription were formerly powerful bounty hunters.

This is just an embarrassing mistake:
When I first saw Sentomaru, I thought he was female. Watching the anime didn't change this because the voice was 50/50 for me. Even now I sometimes fall into referring to him as a her because my brain is stuck there. I was finally corrected when my younger sister informed me of my stupidity about 6 months ago.

Shemale. I always thought that.

When I first saw Jinbei thinking about Arlong, while helping Luffy, I thought he wanted to kill Luffy to avenge Arlong.

And I keep forgetting he isn't female. -
I thought ace survives
I thought whitebeard will kill akainu
I thought straw hats are in admiral level
I thought whitebeards and shanks clash was serious
and in whitebeard first appearance I thought he will be final villian
Sorry if someone said these before -
I though Sanji will defeat Doflamingo.
I expected Bounty Hunters to have some significance in this series, guess im wrong lol.
I still expect that
-
I excpected Sanji, Burgess, Luffy, Rebecca to eat the mera mera no mi.

I was a Monet 4 仲間 Supporter.
i still think there's a chance
-
I thought Kuzan and Borsalino were intended to be black people.
-
I was for Sanji eating Mera-mera. Nop, he'll have to keep sucking like he's been doing since moment he couldn't break steel doors in Punk Hazard whose Franky broke shortly afterwards.
-
I thought Pell died
I thought Paulie was gonna join
I thought Ace was gonna defeat Blackbeard
I thought Kidd was a bad guy
I thought that Capone and Uroge had dissappeared in the NW
I thought we would see Kuro again (it's not ruled out, but I don't see it happening) -
-Before I knew Jinbei was named after a whale shark I tought he would look like a combination of Arlong and his crew. This means having 6 arms like Hatchan, sharp teeth like Arlong and fins like Kuroobi.
- After I read about the orgin of his name, I thought he was going to be huge. About 10 meters or so.
-Doflamingo's german name Don Quichotte de Flamingo confused me, so I ended up thinking "Don" was a title, "de Flamingo" his last name and "Quichotte" was his first name. - The One Piece is hidden on Sky Island and the series will end after this arc.
- I thought Gecko Moriah was going to be a goofy character dressed up in an outfit made out of gecko leather. In my imagination his physique was also simular to a gecko, thin and small. Boy, was I wrong.
- I thought Bartolomeo was a real cannibal who eats his enemies.

I thought we would see Kuro again (it's not ruled out, but I don't see it happening)Well based off Burgess words, technically Ace may have won.
Once blackbeard talks about it, it would be cool to see what exactly the results were after that massive clash.

Such a long time since I last posted on this thread, back in 2006. Before chapter 490 I had so many thoughts that proved me wrong. After 490, I decided to decline in making theories, predications, assumptions and speculations on the story and decided to just wait and watch without over expecting anything from Oda like I use too. When chapter 490 came about, it blew me so hard that I decided "know what? Never again will I expect anything from Oda". But people can still guess and make all kinds of predications, assumptions, theories and speculations and my kind advice would be "Be careful not to over-expect it because Oda is a master twist and turns" although as of Dressrosa, it appears that Oda's wild twist and turn has declined so it's now irrelevant.
First off in number 62 in my first post here was made before Impel Down Arc where I thought the story was not going there but it did.
63. Kuma is a stereotypical priest
64. Each Shichibukai would be defeated hundreds of chapters apart before entering the New World
65. Fishman island is in the middle of the sea and not under the Red Line
66. They go through Mariejois
67. That Florian Triangle is nothing but ruins of ships clustered togather and they would be real ghost
68. Brook is an introduction to a new race of Skeleton people
69. Hancock is not a Shichibukai
70. That 1000 chapters would be spent in the Paradise while the New World would get another 1000 chapters
71. Wano Country has species of dragons that thr Straw Hat Pirates would face but I'm holding back that idea until we get there and I think there might be ninjas there but I don't know about that
72. That Zombies are not controlled by the devil fruit
73. Althought this may not be wrong, I sometimes see the Ancient Kingdom being in Raftal.
74. That Luffy and Law are going to destory the factory in Dressrosa before Doflamingo arrives.
75. That the Toy Solder is going to shoot DoflamingoAlthough I'm not against people making ideas of what was going to happen, I just prefer to wait and see while I quietly guess what's going to happen but would not expect it very much. This is fun

I had expected that someone from WB's crew would show up in dressrosa to fight for the mera-mera no mi.

I thought sabo was dead. Still wish he was.
-
I thought sabo was dead. Still wish he was.
I have a question for you and anyone else that hates Sabo.
If he was established way earlier, like when Ace first showed up (maybe have someone comment on his tattoo and him talk about the "dead" third brother), would you still hate him for reappearing now?
-
When the SH got separated by Kuma I thought it was because of how far Kuma flung them that was the reason they didn't join Luffy sooner.
-
I don't hate Sabo as a character. What I hate is when, why, and how he showed up again. The motivation for Luffy (in my own personal opinion) to not give up after losing ace was his crew. To me, that was a growing up kind of moment for Luffy, true character development that didn't involve a massive fight against a huge villain or anything of the sort. Luffy had to come to terms that he lost not only Sabo at a young age, but now Ace as well. He had lost all reason and will to continue living on, he thought he was alone. But, he soon realized he still had his crew who means more to him than One Piece itself.
Then, 3 ish arcs later out of fucking left field Sabo's all, "Hey bud, :D sorry I could be there to help keep ace alive, I was busy waiting for the perfect dues ex machina moment to save you and help you out because you're the main character lol."
No. Just no. All of that growth and character development is now IMO wasted.
That's what I don't like.

Well I'm lukewarm on this, I strongly believe Sabo should be dead because losing Ace was so big for Luffy but them I begun to believe he's alive for a reason and him being alive was foreshadowed in Luffy's flashback when Dragon had rescued someone and how Whitebeard said someone is going to take Ace's will. In fact Oda was getting obvious with his storyline at this point and Oda's wierd plot twist that we can see miles away, something suprising got to show up in Dressrosa! Data books are not 100% reliable and there is no hard proof Sabo is dead. Plus if Sabo did not show up then who will take Luffy's place as Lucy and what will they even do with the Meta Mera no Mi since no one in Luffy's crew is going to eat it? Luffy has to leave the colossuem and someone else is going to claim it. In fact Luffy may not even leave the Colossuem so if that happens, it could take a long time for Luffy to reach Doflamingo. Plus who will stall the Marines? And who will save Luffy who almost got killed by Burgress?
The only thing that now bothers me is how come Sabo never tried to get in contact with Ace and Luffy sometimes after his rescue to the battle in Marineford? Just remember this is how Oda's brain works and there is nothing we can do about it

At least you got your answer.
