We are talking about the top pirates of the world. And not goody goody pirates, they are piratey pirates. Do you really think if Kaido found out a fruit he wanted was already eaten by a random person, he would just say "oh well, it is what it is" and go away? He would just kill the person and harvest the fruit (we saw with Caesar a person there are cheats to respawn a fruit next to you).

To be honest, I think phoenix_fire is right and this is matter one is supposed to simply think it is a theme an leave at it (I don't think it is as bad as every character in some manga being baptized with names that somehow will perfectly reflect their future lives, but we never bat an eye at it), but if we really need an in-universe reason I don't think it is really hard to believe both Linlin and Kaido would use force on top of their connections to get a fruit they wanted.

Well Linlin most likely cannibalized someone to get their DF (albeit unintentionally) so yeah, literally nothing will stand in their way at that point.

I think it's safe to say that cheating the respawn isn't that simple. Else you would see Devil Fruit head-hunters left and right, and not just Blackbeard with his special darkness fruit.

I assume Caesar was able to gather just enough info about the Axolotl Zoan to abuse it for his experiments. Maybe it was easier to deduce how to trigger the respawn, as opposed to fruits that really don't look like any normal fruit (like the Mera Mera) or fruits that aren't already listed in the fruit book.

Kaido doesn't bother me because he is chasing zoans but Big Mom wouuld because there's no reason she would do so with food fruits. But there's enough random one in her crew for t to not seemed forced to me.

Big Mom's crew is more diverse than just "Food" fruits, though.

Daifuku's a genie's lamp.
Smoothie's a sponge.
Oven's an…oven.
Pudding controls memories.
Mont d'Or has powers based on books.
The dectuplets are a combining bio-mecha.
Pekoms is a turtle.
And Linlin herself has powers that have nothing to do with food, unless she chooses to.

While Cracker, Perospero, Opera, and Galette have powers centered around a specific food/substance, Katakuri may as well be any standard logia and ~~Tamago~~ ~~Hyouko~~ Niwatori is more about Phoenix-style rebirth than it is eggs…

Right now, the only non-Zoan/non-SMILE users we've seen in Kaidou's orbit are Hawkins and Apoo...

I think we might be in for a 3 way fight in the end or before the final battle in this arc. Big Mom vs Kaidou vs Luffy…then Big Mom gets taken out or gets hungry and runs off and completely destroys rest of Kaidou’s island probably just sink the whole thing which would be pretty cool to give Wano a clean start.

Kaido having only Zoan is ok (BM also only have Paramecia, the only exception was Pekoms and he is probably not part of the BMP anymore) because we can assume he specifically aimed for that as even the name of the crew reflects that.
My problem is almost all of them being just variations of the same Ryu Ryu (Jack is the only exception of all the known Zoan in his crew so far). However, I can totally give it a pass if it ends up being Kaido wanting to have other "dragons" with him… anything that supports the theory him being originally a dragon will have my approval, really.

Scars and tatoos carry over to zoan form, I'd assume missing limbs do as well. And we've seen logias with missing limbs dont get their limbs back or heal old wounds.

I expect Queen to be fully healed and ready to go by the fire festival. He'll be ready to go and no Samurai or non-Straw Hat from the alliance will be able to best him, King or Jack. Though with Kyoshiro and Ashura we are given the impression that they have the potential to put down Kaidou's top men but I don't see it happening in the slightest.

Oda has shown us two Calamities in situations where they looked less than what one might expect from an Emperors commanders. Still how do you account for another Emperor and an island sized animal taking a swipe at you? Forces of nature should still be a threat to mortal beings lol. I think when things really go down by the end of the arc Jack, King and Queen will completely show their dominance against their many opponents.

Doflamingo was given treatment like no other character in One Piece for the longest time. He was super confident and seemed almost untouchable for hundreds and hundreds of chapters. Law got that tiny little cut in but it wasn't until Luffy nailed the Red Hawk that Doffy took any kind of significant attack from anyone. So far we've seen multiple Emperors and their highest ranking officers on multiple occasions look a little off in their game. I don't mind it one bit because they aren't infallible gods and still have their own ship to deal with. The Animal Pirates have shown that they can be bested but just watch when Oda wants to really show us why they've been one of the dominating forces in the world for so long. That ALL IS LOST moment will be here sooner or later and the alliance is going to get hit hard.

The Calamities saving grace are being zoans. They should be able to take a lot of damage, I think. Plus, none of them used haki yet and aren't zoan man-beast forms the strongest? I'm forgetting more OP facts every day. Anyway, I'm holding out hope they'll be a force of nature when they get serious (and aren't fighting freaking Big Mom).

Witching Hour Boy could be Izo. There are a lot of characters like Tenguyama and Gyukimaru that I feel have a larger role in this arc. Last part ended with Luffy being locked up with Kid, I hope this part tops that. I don't see more than 4 chapters left in this part.

I doubt everyone that got the secret message will join. Some of them probably have grown bitter through the years or just submitted to Orochi. Kokeshi dolls guarding the poneglyph and Kawamatsu possibly being a demon (which I doubt). Haven't seen Apoo in a while, plus the other 4 Flying Six.

Big Mom spoke on Roger's VOAT and Puddin's 3 Eyed Tribe ability. I interpreted them as 2 separate things. Both being related to reading the poneglyphs, but I don't think it was VOAT for Puddin. Most of the fans interpret it Puddin's ability as VOAT, but it wasn't clarified as such. I see a similar situation for the war and lurking legend. I didn't see the war or the lurking legend specifically being said to be in Wano , but so many fans are saying it and making theories with that mindset. Not saying that it's impossible to be related to Wano, but I just didn't see it clearly stated as for this arc.

That was the case, but it's still an absurd coincidence that those fruits had the same theme. The two Zoans, sure, but the random paramecia also fitting the Gorgon story?
And it must have been random, because there is nothing entertaining about Hancock's fruit.

That's why I feel like he's the person that Shanks is warning the Gorosei about. Imagine if Shanks knows this person well and this person is the link between Teach and Shanks. It would explain a lot. Like why Teach was on WB's ship. Teach looked up to the LL and when he went away, the most powerful to lay low and wait under was WB. It's kind of the smartest thing to do in the New World (Capone's smart). Teach and Shanks probably learned a lot like taking DF abilities form him. Wouldn't the LL be able to possibly take Linlin or Kaido's ability (if it is a DF ability)?

This is why I don't see this arc as where Kaido truly falls. I think he loses, but mostly just loses Wano country. This is another reason why I question if he is there or will he show up like Teach did when it's almost over. When I first read the spoiler, I thought of this and how crazy it would look if Kaido and all 3 Calamities were in their beast form on 1 page. Well, for Kaido, I still don't know if he has a DF or not.

It would be interesting if Drake and Aokiji leaving the Marines were personal missions to get things done without the limits of the WG.Even though Corazon was on a mission from Sengoku, it was still personal and he defied Sengoku.

Oda like to have themes in creating his characters, it is a creative choice.

Strawhat DFs all have number theme, and are the least justified since Luffy didn’t went out of his way to collect people with number themed DFs. Original Admirals DFs have theme. Original Warlords all have animal theme. CP9 all have animal theme. Boa sisters DFs all have the same theme as their tribe. Donquixote Pirate executives name have theme. It is a creative choice, Beast Pirates and BM Pirates followed the rule, they are not the exception.

I don't see Tenryuubito feeding random fruits to slaves (just imagine a logia or invisibility fruit or what not). Sure, Hancocks fruit is hax as hell, but with enough intimidation you make good use of her power. Also it is quite entertaining to be able to make statues out of living beings - at least for guys like those world nobles. If there is a coincidence with Hancocks fruit, it has to do with her tatoo that nobody should look at and her ability to petrify.

Also: yeah, devilfruits are one of the storyparts Oda takes really creative… there literally is no end to it, dfs are connected to story-part elements, names, groups, appearance, personal preferences, (mythological, historical, political) quotes out of op-world, and so on, and so on...

I have been thinking of the new leader swooping in to finish Kaido, since the gap between him and our heroes is still so vast. Thought I do assume we would learn a bit more about Rox beforehand so it wouldn't seem so out of left field if suddenly they arrive out of nowhere.

I don’t want this to happen to be honest, because it is… kind of pathetic? The protagonists couldn’t deal with their own problems, so now people are begging outside forces and even enemies for help? This is like WCI arc, where so many people are making theories about marines or whatever showing up etc. and all I wanted to say is, please have some fucking dignity.

If the protagonists aren’t strong enough, they should just get wrecked and come back later. As simple as that.

We all knew BM had a good Intel Network, but on the other Hand, there was Stussy. Pretending to be some redlight district queen, she actually was from CP0 and BM (for all we know) did not notice. So since Stussy I doubt that any other being from the WG (except Aokiji) needs to be outside the WG to get further without them.
And if Drake is a double Agent for the marines, he is so Undercover, that not even Kizaru knew about it 2 yrs ago.

Fakescorpion's right on that: a lot of Crews (except the DD-pirates and Barioque Works) have theme-based abilities when it coms to DFs and IMO the beast pirates are the most plausible collection of DF-themed powers, since we know how Kaidou makes those guys and Girls joining his Crew.
The BMPs (as much as I like them) all COINCIDENTLY have Food-based or fairy-tale-based abilities while all being siblings at the same time.

It's best not to think to deep about how some users got their fruits though.
