Great ending. The main cast are always a treat to see. The Garp side-plot wrapped up nicely, pathing the way for Smoker. Koby's wrap up with Luffy was nice. Always great seeing bounty reactions. A big shout out to the talented crew behind the scenes. They elevated this series. It's a visual feast for the eyes. Here's hoping for a Season 2.

RE: Chapter 1074: Mark III
There's just something I find very wholesome about Zoro and Luffy just hanging out on the couch.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
But would it make sense having Eri there? Not sure Aizawa would sign off on that. Anyway, I'm not liking this fight as much as Endeavor VS AFO. AFO is more interesting, but I'll applaud Horikoshi if Bakugo stays dead.
~Vigilantes Talk~
Yeah, the finale happened. It was good but it's a shame Pop and Koichi weren't in the same place. Wouldn't be surprised if we get a bonus chapter or two dedicated to them. And I'm hoping Skycrawler is one of the international heroes who'll come in to help. I just can't see Koichi not coming back to Japan to help in some way. -
RE: Doctor Who
There's definitely a commentary on social media but I don't think it's straightforward "Social Media Is Bad". Ricky September used it but he wasn't obsessed with it. Like with most things, it depends on how and how long you do it. I also liked that he was established as someone who loves learning about the world. It's a big contrast to Lindy who's empathic only to herself, her family, and her friends (her social bubble). Even where Lindy lived was a bubble built for rich young people who mostly think and act alike. There's no room for debate or other ideas. It's the perfect place to harbor ideologies based on ignorance.
I dismissed the character at first, but I'm really interested in Ricky. I think one reason he got that ending was because he most likely would've had no problem with The Doctor and would've campaigned to follow him. The combination of the twist paired with Lindy wanting to please her new bubble of friends was her downfall. I think the gears were turning in her head but she didn't have the empathy to let someone she didn't consider a friend to help her if there was another option. Even if that option was awful.
Overall, it wasn't just the twist that was good, but, through Ricky and Lindy's interactions, the twist is just one of the results of a classist society built on ignorance and self-gratification.

RE: Chapter 1057: The End
Unless I missed it, there's no in-universe reason Luffy didn't say goodbye to Momo and Kin. It's just there because Wano needed an emotional ending. And I'm annoyed at Yamato not joining. That's one heck of an 180 after all signs pointed to it happening. Well, at least it's over. Wano's not a bad arc but I think it went on way too long.

RE: 1071: ''Luffy's Peak - Obtained! 'Gear Fifth'''
I really enjoyed it, but I came in with low expectations. One Piece being a year-round anime destroys it's pacing too much for me to watch on a regular basis except through YouTube clips.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I read this chapter right after reading the latest One Piece chapter. Big mistake. But, I'm gonna try to be positive. I liked… the color spread. And Deku not raging out again. I dare anyone to complain about Crawler VS Number 6 in My Hero Vigilantes after reading the last several chapters.

@Deicide said in Chapter 1106: On Your Side:
@Captain-M There's some weird stuff on how this arc was done. It's possible, but so weird, if the heroes just fight their way off and escape.
- The Straw Hats did practically nothing so far
- There's a ton of unresolved stuff (the Iron Giant, Seraphim, Mother Flame, York, the Blackbeard ship, who fed Luffy, Robin's wounds...)
- It feels like the villains have been a pretty big letdown. When we stop to think about it, they arrived in 1089, and we stopped 8 chapters for the flashback, so they'd only been a presence for 9 ou of 47 chapters.
I could see the arc ending with a ton of unresolved stuff that will make sense later in the final saga. But, at the same time, it doesn't feel like that's a great resolution. Will we beat Saturn so Bonney and Kuma get justice, or will we just bail?
I seriously can't tell, and this wouldn't be the first nor second time in this arc shifts in unexpected ways. I'm still pissed off for the Labophase off-screen resolution, and then when we returned a lot of people were certain the arc would soon end with the heroes escaping soon after Ch 1089.
I feel we could still have the villains pulling out some serious guns to turn the tide in their favor again. There's enough threats remaining to provide match-ups for each crewmate and then some (9 vice-admirals, 4 Seraphim, York, Kizaru, Saturn, potentially the Blackbeard ship...). I'm not saying we will get that, thought, I'm just pointing out there are still too many elements in this arc to consider it near its end.
You made me realize that maybe I've been thinking about this arc in the wrong way. Before, I thought that all the cutaways to other places was Oda's way of world building before get back to the typical Straw Hat stuff on a new island. But maybe this entire arc is mainly for world building and setup, Egghead included.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Didn't Horikoshi go a couple years without taking a single break? If he takes a break it's for a good reason. The sad part is the Oda schedule has been a thing for years and it seems like Jump has no intention of extending it to other mangaka.

RE: Chapter 1106: On Your Side
I think some fans overestimate how much they influence Oda, especially us non-Japanese fans. Oda's smart enough to not let the inmates run the asylum.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Class 2-A is really living their best Post-Lord of the Rings life, treating kids one-year younger like they're a generation removed. Guess that's what happens after you save the world. You change but everyone else stays the same.
It sucks Uravity didn't get her moment on tape like the guys. I'm looking forward to her and Deku having a moment, but if it just ends with them having the same exact relationship then don't waste my time, Horikoshi.
…Still waiting on Deku's dad to show up…

That soldier. It really hit me. It was so random and cruel.
I'm very interested in why the war stopped. I guess we'll learn that in another character's flashback one day.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Am I supposed to feel sorry for Spinner? The scene between him and Deku put me in a weird place. I mean, I WANT to forgive him because of what he went through but Horikoshi never showed us much of his backstory. It's mostly implied with a focus on showing the result with Spinner never leaving his room. Were the specifics meant to be implied (using our imagination to fill in the gaps for more impact)? Or, did Horikoshi just never found time to give us that Spinner backstory chapter?
Also, Spinner's going on death row, right? At the very least there's no way he's ever getting out of prison. We're not gonna touch on that, Horikoshi? No? Okay... Maybe him writing the book implies that's what he's gonna do with all his free time.
And then there's the gall of Spinner calling Deku a murderer! That really shocked me. I know it's coming from a guy whose best friend was killed but that still takes nerve given all the people Shigaraki murdered and the chaos his actions had on the country. Deku's a better person than me because I would've cussed Spinner out for saying that to me. And that final ember of One For All would've went right up his ass.
Anyway, I'm less confused and upset about Overhaul's ending. Getting laid out by his Boss was well deserved. Although, the Boss saying Eri will forget Overhaul had me scratching my head again this chapter. Horkoshi is really downplaying the trauma Eri went through. I tried to overlook the whole School-Concert-Healed-Eri angle but then you throw this at me? You wanna be psudo-realistic, Horikoshi? Have Eri going to therapy. She needs it. And all the free concerts and candy apples in the world isn't gonna make her forget that horrible time in her life.
I hate to go all P.H. on this chapter, but all these manga clichés are driving me crazy.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I'm fine with how the Todoroki saga ended. It's a messy ending as it should be. I really love Natsuo in this chapter. Maybe he'll come around, maybe not but I love him following his own path.
Um… I thought Dabi's tear ducts where gone? How is he crying?
Hawks being the HPSC President really works for me. Something about him knowing the dark side of the hero life along with his other experiences makes me think real change is coming.
Thank goodness La Brava and Gentle got a get out of jail free card. Now's the perfect time for them to become official heroes.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt too being that the manga is still ongoing and there’s still a lot of things we’ve yet to see but I don’t know.
Seeing how Hawkins & Apoo sold out for Kaido and how Kid got waxed by Shanks (which he asked for) doesn’t exactly fill me with with optimism
I'm thinking Urouge being a monk will tie him to worshipping Sun God Nika like the people of Elbaph.

Horikoshi was taking more and more breaks. His heath could be the main reason he's been so laser focused on the main plot for a while.

I love the interaction between the Old Woman and Martha. It was simple, yet personal, never about wider politics or ideology. They both felt a certain way while holding on to their humanity.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Come on P.H. Give the series a little sympathy. On a personal level, while I didn't like the direction it went, I don't think I ever once considered dropping MHA while both Naruto and Bleach both got the boot from me at some point in their final arcs. The only shonen series I read to the end and hated was Hitman Reborn. Tsuna's lack of character development after everything he went through really ticked me off. I'm still bitter.

RE: Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F
I got caught up with The Acolyte. It's…okay. I'm not crazy about it but I don't despise it either. Honestly, Andor was such a well-written, acted, and directed show, I find myself holding everything after to it's high standards.
I'm a bit confused about
Also, I heard a theory the Acolyte's master could be
Hating Star Wars is popular. Hate vids and podcasts get clicks and views. More and more I've noticed YouTube videos with buzzwords like "ruined my childhood" and "Star Wars is Dead" and "Woke" and "Kathleen Kennedy fired". It's the new trash tv.
Add that to every Star Wars fan having their own personal reason(s) why they like the franchise, so if it's not "their" Star Wars, they complain. Nothing wrong with that but the more popular something is, the more people will complain because you can't please everyone all of the time.
Then there are racists and misogynists who'll slam anything with People of Color and women. I'm at the point where anytime I see a thumbnail with a woman with a weird/exaggerated expression, I remove it from my suggestions. Maybe they're Star Wars fans, maybe not and are just furthering their agenda—maybe both—but they're going to complain.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Agreed. The series made it clear one person being a Symbol of Peace is a bad idea in the long run. I was thinking more about the symbol being a team of heroes like the Avengers or Justice League.
Actually, given how AFO's influence over worldwide criminal activities nearly doomed the planet, an international team of heroes not held back by politics would be even better.

RE: Doctor Who
This was a fun episode. A nice calm before the storm. The Owls had a classic villain type style but with a bit of oomph (the actors did a great job with their roles). I can see the species appearing again one day.
Ruby continues to impress me by how smart, resourceful, and sympathetic she is. Just a great character.
I was getting Jack Harkness vibes too. But, the romance didn't feel all that forced to me. Probably because I was onboard with the two's connection with loss and how well their personalities fit each other.
But, yeah, it's hard to have a main character fall in love and lose them in one episode and not make it seem rushed. For what it's worth, I think they did the best they could within the time allowed.
