One Piece 864: The Vinsmoke Family Slaughter Plot
-
16 char of first post?

The golden week Genie has visited and has granted my first wish
…more Bartolomeo in the near future.
-
Well, Oda is setting up Pudding as a victim, of her family and of herself.
-
What the hell kinda fruit was that genie thing?
These kids of her's are no joke at all. -
Sanji jobbing some more, Year of Brook in full swing.
-
me @ judge: HA SUFFERRR
i hate him
-
What a lovely cover with allies of the Mugiwaras.
-
Hahahaha, Judge has awful foresight and the brothers are more stiff than I thought.
And damn, I wonder how Daifuku's fruit works exactly. It looks like he can heat things up, that could be really devastating if he can do that fast and to really high degrees.
-
This is the year of Brook. The skin gag made me laugh for a solid minute, and then the badass "yes, a long time ago". Amazing
-
Big Mom : Soul King ! I thought you died
Soul King : Yes , I did. a long time ago -
I love Grand Fleet guys, but are we ever gonna get another standard cover story? This one will likely be like the SHs separation one so 2 chapters for every allied crew, maybe Bellamy will also be presented. So we have 14-16, maybe up to 20 chapters. Then close to a year of requests again. I guess it's more marketable this way, but I really miss the old days. Give me another Jango, Ace, Gedatsu or Enel, Oda!
Also, Brook was definitely the highlight of this chapter. Again. My prayers have been answered with this arc.

Well, Jinbe was kind of selfcontained.
I am still expecting the adventures of the Pacifista sent away by Kuma in Sabaody :( -
This was such an awesome chapter. Oda let nothing down. Any of us worried about how he was portraying the strength of the Yonko - those fears are out of the way. In moments - even with Big Mom temporarily confused - her forces were able to get the situation back under control. The Charlotte Family onslaught this chapter was insane and awesome to watch. Also glad Pudding was still trying to kill Sanji. Plus it was so satisfying watching Judge just break down in tears lol. The hype when Bege refused his orders - damn this chapter went by fast & was pure excellence.
-
Good and funny chapter. The scene with the Vinsmoke was great. Reiju hasn't yet realized that Sanji is there to save them, i wonder how shockly she'll react to that. Even Pudding seems still oblivious of Sanji's intentions, she hasn't even realized that Sanji knew everything of her deception, her reaction should be interesting too given that they share a similar past of being bullied, but while she responded with violence he just returned kindness to his "family".
-
I want a cover story where the celestial dragons torture Doflamingo.
This week they're pulling his nails out. Now they're chopping his leg off. Playing a darts game on his belly. Gouge his eye out.
Then when Luffy attacks Mariejoa, doffy gets free and takes his revenge on them.
-
I guess dogtooth's future sight works the same way as the mistborn series. Meaning that although he sees the future, if you simply pay attention to his expression you can guess what he sees and change it again. Case in point: Sanji dodging his bullet/coin/whatever because dogtooth couldn't see his own future, and now bege changing tactics based on his expression. All in all future-sight becomes drastically less of a gamebreaker.

I think its normal observation haki, but he can not just see his one future but that of other people…
-
Daifuku ate the stando stando no mi. Btw, is his devil fruit ability covered in haki, or is it just how it's colored?
Edit: ninja'd -
Genie DF? I can't even…. XD lol
And the genie is imbued with Busoshoku?
-
Did i read this wrong or is Luffy, being Luffy, actually putting the picture together before he shows it to Big Mom ? xD
I still have hope for the Vinsmoke bros, since i expect Ichiji and Niji to have DFs (Niji's electric punch or kick with Sanji ? don't remember) they'll probably react the moment they see an oppening, being so damn cold will maybe come in handy in the end.

You mean Oven here.
-
I feel like this is a huge calm before the storm moment.
-

Normal observation doesn't see any future, no? I figured it was simply observation of things and life-force and whatnot. Dogtooth is special because he can see a little bit in the future. Or at least a possible future.
-

Daifuku, Oven, potayto, potahto
-
I feel like this is a huge calm before the storm moment.
The storm will probably be Big Mom going on a tantrum craving for another Wedding Cake, that is the future Katakuri has probably seen and not Big Mom being killed as Bege is thinking.
-
-
The Vinsmokes are incredibly pathetic, no wonder Sanji is an embarrassment. To think none of them could evade that attack from PerosPero. Even Ussop would have dodge a bit.

Nah i think its the same, dodge attacks with observation haki is like seeing the near future…
-
"Who the hell is that?!"
"He Brook…" is how I read the line because of the question... :(
-

normal observation haki makes you feel the voice of other people, thus know what they are going to do
Katakuri is different, sioce he can clearly see the future,as in what is going to happen to things, not just what people are going to dobut as Bege said in this chapter, all he can do is see, it doesn't mean he can change it,and also he seem able only to see one future, once someone does something to rewrite it,said future is not valid, much like in the past chapter he saw sanji dodge the priest bullet, but he couldn't see sanji dodge his attack too because that was a brand new future that came into existance because he saw the future before and tried to change it.

The only aspect that still seem intimidating with the BM pirates is the crew size.
I mean if it was an equal playing field with the full might of the Lawhats, Capone and Luffy's fleet they'd be really hard pressed.
Well not BM herself obviously, she's still invincible and all, but her crew seem like they would be steamrolled.

didn't get this impression at all..they are all basically unscathed
-
I'm not sure what to think of this chapter as of now, except that its early release is welcome.
- It's a good thing the Charlotte siblings aren't losing sight of their objective, and some of them seem to be decent fighters.
- At least Pudding didn't turn good yet, but I still don't like how Oda is setting her up to be a rescuable victim in the near future. It's really a letdown compared to the sadistic mastermind she was a few chapters ago.
- The Vinsmokes are a huge disappointment. Did not even put up a fight - some high caliber assassins they are… And what foresight. Barely a day before Judge was willing to take Pudding hostage because he didn't trust Big Mom and suddenly he's crying over betrayal ?
- Lots of things are happening, yet the pacing feels slow. After the portrait broke I was expecting all hell to break loose instantaneously, yet Big Mom is still stunned a full chapter later. Not even welling up her rage or anything, she just stands in shock. It's not entirely unthinkable, but really lessens the impact of last chapter's cliffhanger.
- Also, Brook unmasking didn't feel necessary. Disguised-Luffy might have fooled a five-years old, but who could have seriously thought he was anyone else ?
- Beheaded Brook was awesome, though.
Here's to hoping next chapter moves the plot forward at last.

Won't say that .
They don't look overpower but they don't look like they would get steam roll either .
Waiting to see more of smoothie and Katakuri. -

Ho
w exactly is it pathetic that they were taken by surprised while completely unarmed? It's not all that different than Squardo's betrayal of Whitebeard. -
Pretty cool chapter. I made it a bit too grandiose in my head thanks to spoilers, but Perospero's unexpected cameo and speech when the Vinsmokes got trapped made that scene for me. Delicious deaths indeed.
Also, not sure whether to be angry at Daifuku for being an absolute asshat for smacking his sister around, or be a bit happy that he carried out some of the audience's frustrations without Pudding (though I did like her in this chapter, given that she very clearly still wants to do her job and wasn't crying about it to boot.)
My suspension of disbelief that Big Mom hasn't gone nuts yet is a little strained, given that Judge's and Perospero's conversation seemed to go longer than that, but it's far from the first time time has been stretched recalls Alabasta bomb
-
Next chapter I predict that Big Mom will react to Luffy being near her, instead of reacting towards the photo.
- Also, Brook unmasking didn't feel necessary. Disguised-Luffy might have fooled a five-years old, but who could have seriously thought he was anyone else ?
Maybe there's an animal with a balloon head? The Luffy animals kind of had animal traits to them.

Or recall the relatively recent 10 seconds countdown for Luffy to stand up and defeat Doflamingo

Dude. The gag. How could you possibly want to give up that gag, I am still laughing and it's been two hours.

That confused and even annoyed me at first as well, but they say at some point that it is because Big Mom is confused as to what to be most angry about (the cake or the photo), which explains it and fits in really nicely with her personality.

Given what Daifuku and Oven are doing, I'd say that's expremely unlikely. Yes, a major aspect is the size, since most of the Big Mom Pirates are your usual New World pirates. Luffy, who's a step above that, would be stronger than a lot of them, and people who are closer in strength to him would likely be able to defeat most of her crew members. We're not going to get a crew where all the members are as strong/stronger than Luffy individually. But they are most certainly a threat together, given the ride of hell they put Luffy through with their Devil Fruit powers during his fight against a ton of them. And that's not even mentioning the Sweet Commanders, who can actually give Luffy a tough one on one fight.
It's just like Kaido and the Beasts Pirates; we know that Kaido and his Disasters are the top echelon, way above most New World Pirates. In his employ, though, are average New World pirates. Look at "Iron Boy" Scotch, the first member of the crew we ever saw. He's a competent New World pirate, able to wreak havoc on islands like, say, Randolph, Diesel, and Amande, with his sick machine gun. But Super Rookie Caribou managed to eventually defeat him. Same with the Red Hair Pirates, they got a guy named Rockstar who's far below the standard New World bounty and whom no one has even heard of. And who knows how many Whitebeard lackeys got their asses killed in Marineford.

Three seconds have long since passed. Big Mom s just way to shocked and confused with everything that's happening around to get mad.

Good chapter.
Finally we got a new cover story (the last one didn't really excite me). Brook keeps being amazing in every scene. Pretty sure Jinbe was using CoA on his arms, not sure if we saw him doing it before. But what I am really curious is BM… I think either she will regain her senses instead of going nuts or she will lose it for the least important thing to give some comedic sense to it (like Brook running away, I don't know). And as someone who simply can't give a damn about the Vinsmokes, I am really glad they will remain sit.

Chopper (Nami?) mentioned a longer time has passed than what they were expecting, so it's not a case of stretching time.
-
The Vinsmokes are all tied down with a transparent liquid, should be the ability of that woman Amande, but can´t see her there^^

It's actually Perospero.

She's the female yonko. I'm sure her males couterparts are much better.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I say screw Oda for his way of portraying woman. So now Pudding is suddenly a character to be saved and charmed by Sanji gentleman charm.
The chapter ended in a weird way
-
You know what the last panel reminded me of?
[hide][/hide] -
I liked the Vinsmokes not giving a danm about dying.
