I asked CCC about that a few days ago:

! > Hey CCC!I wonder if I could ask you about one panel at mangarule, it's from the "cool fight" chapter:

Does he really say "vulcanization" there?
Thanks in advance!
! @CCC:
! > Yes. The word in question can mean "hardening" in general, but also vulcanization specifically.
So it seems both works, but vulcanization was chosen due to the added flavor and relevance (with Luffy being rubber), I guess.
hey people! I was searching but i guess i couldn't find the correct keywords… well, there was a thread in this forum with theories about the void century and the will of D, etc. There was a particularly decent and extensive theory with just very few flaws (if any, can't quite remember), Can anyone help me find the thread, if not the post? Thank you in advance :D

It's in there somewhere I have no idea what it might be called. All I know is Luffy on the cover of volume 27 is a big hint towards all that.

although it's quite decent theory, it's not the one i'm looking for. If i remember correctly, it was also mentioning something about the will of the D being a spirit or something like that, that went on, after the void century and that maybe a similar "evil" spirit that maybe BB inherited its will… Thank you veeery much for your help though :D Much appreciated :)

This theory sucks, if it doesn't include Sabo in some way. :ninja:
Don't know if this is the place to ask this, but here i go… Which is the best site, with the more accurate translations, to read One Piece?
Does anyone else think that Monet's current design is based of the general 'snow angel' thing? She has wings and can control snow, and is kind of graceful…-ish.
Do you guys think Oda intended to do a time-skip from the very start, or is it something of an afterthought? I mean, the Straw Hats (at least the first six) grow immensely stronger from their joining onward to Sabaody. Early in the story, it seems that Luffy will slowly grow to be the strongest pirate of all. First he struggles with no-name East Blue marines and pirates (Morgan, Kuro), then he defeats a pirate who actually did well in the Grand Line (Arlong), then he defeats his first Shichibukai, then he defeats the world's strongest intelligence agency, and then he trawls relatively easy through a second Shichibukai and his crew (after getting freed from initial trouble, that is). It's actually first established relatively late that the Straw Hats are nothing against the great powers of the world (we first see how strong Whitebeard and Shanks really are after Enies Lobby, and it first becomes really obvious during Sabaody). I think Oda could have written it so they grew strong enough without the time-skip.
I see a time-skip felt necessary in such a large-scale story with ridiculously strong opponents, so it's not a criticism, but if One Piece had only lasted 5 years as he originally intended, do you think he'd have "wasted" time on doing a time-skip?
If you re-read those early chapters, he doesn't really struggle with the first few enemies at all. He casually ignores and dodges Morgan until Zoro takes him out with one attack. Kuro tries to pull hit and run tactics on Luffy that basically end with Luffy grabbing him and destroying him. Krieg spent most of his fight with Luffy shooting at him with a stretch of ocean between them. Arlong WAS a challenge, but not overly so, and Arlong was supposed to be the strongest pirate in East Blue.
This may have been answered before but in the anime, why does Luffy's gear second still travel through-out his body while in the manga in only shows it in one body part?

Earliest release is Mangapanda so you get the gist of the chapter, then wait for CCC and the Mangarule guys to translate it and read it on http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/one-piece-r39

We honestly don't know yet.

Wow, that sounds familiar. I got blasted for suggesting that in a chapter thread once, and I eventually made a theory for it in a more static thread. It's probably not the one you're thinking of, but it fits, and I got blasted there too! (thanks nessa) Looking back, some people like maxterdexter even questioned if I should be a mod for suggesting it in the chapter thread! Here on AP, we know how to overreact.

But really, there have been lots of theories from lots of people. There's probably a full thread about the Will of D somewhere in the archives, but I can't recall it specifically.

I know right? Giving out infractions for double posting, kicking people out of conversation for expressing opinions, yeah things get pretty crazy here especially when your the "law of the land" "what you say is law" and can do whatever you want :p.
Those mods doing all of that moderating. What jackasses.
Seriously though, don't derail this thread for something stupid like this.

Late reply, but I think it's an artistic choice. In the manga, Gear 2nd is portrayed as just Luffy's body releasing steam, while in the anime, Luffy's body also turns pink to represent his blood rushing. Luffy would look rather silly if only one of his limbs turned pink while the rest of his body kept his normal skin color, so they probably decided to not incorporate his partial Gear 2nd.
If it's indeed the case, I honestly believe it was a good decision by the anime staff to not include the partial Gear 2nd, as it doesn't actually make much sense from a logical standpoint. Blood rushing at high speeds inside only a limb while flowing normally through the rest of the body is kinda dumb.

Yeah i know which site releases One Piece first, as i have read all the series and i am following it weekly, i just wanted to start reading it again from the beggining. So i will try Batoto, thx a lot!

Sry for asking this again, but i really want to know what people think, so i can be sure that i made the right choice... Which is the best site, with the more accurate translations, to read One Piece?
Which chapter does Franky quickly build a bridge during the thriller bark saga? Struggling to find it! Thanks in advance.
!

Chapter 461- Ghost Buster.
Edit: Franky's done insane things alright.
Turbo charge an Ox.
Build a stair case in mid air.
Build a Huge Hose with other strawhats abilities applied to.
All of that in the middle of a crisis, in seconds.
Does Law have a boat?
He has a submarine.

How tall is Chopper in monster point? If there isn't an official figure, does anyone have a good guess based on the height of other characters? Thanks.
Very tall indeed. I try to base my guess viewing panels from Enies Lobby:
Robin is 188 cm, and she wears high heels during that arc. Let's assume she becomes 10 cm taller, 198 cm.
Lucci is a bit taller than Robin wearing heels. Let's assume he is 200 cm.
Kumadori is quite taller than Lucci, but not over-the-top tall. I think 260 or 270 cm seems reasonable (that's about Brook height).
And finally, Monster Chopper seems about 3,5 times as tall as Kumadori during their fight.
So that would, in the end, make Chopper between 9 and 9,5 meters tall. 30 feet if you are American.
Guess that's another case of Oda being inconsistent with size. During fishman island monster chopper was barely twice the size of Sanji, who is 1,80 after the Time Skip.
!
And Sanji dropped directly in front of Chopper, there is not much distance between them (judging by Choppers angle of vision). Of course Sanji doesn't stand straight, but the same goes for Chopper.
If we are really generous he is about three times as big as Sanji, so 540 cm.
I'm somehow not surprised that there is an inconsistency in his size. That's why I only took the panels from Enies Lobby, since Sabaody, Fishman Island and Punk Hazard would probably confuse me even more.
Maybe it's a case of "cute is small". When he couldn't control his Monster Point, Chopper was supposed to be a frightening, you know, monster. Post-timeskip, he is more of a friendly powerhouse.
Just re-reading Elbaf (Can't believe I forgot how good an Arc it is!) and I came across this line towards the end of it that threw me off.
!
In the top panel Dorry refers to a "Great Serpent Soaked in Blood" who is powerful enough to resist their attacks (sounds pretty strong then). Basically I'm wondering if this has been discussed before (I'm guessing it has) and if so what were/are AP's thoughts on the matter? is this something that's already been resolved? or could this be yet another example of Oda forshadowing events for the Elbaf Arc?

The Red Line, maybe? It'll most likely be brought up again once they get to Elbaf.
Someone asked this question not too long ago. I'm betting on the Red Line.

Yeah it's been talked about and back then, and several times since, the general agreement is that yes, They were refering to the Red Line, the continent that 'snakes' around the world and can't be broken through, so to travel one side to the other, they go over the top at the 'Holy City' Marijois or below it at Fishman Island.

As said thats general agreement, Oda could fool us though :)
What were the evidence of Luffy being weaker than Vice-admiral before the war?

At first I thought they were referring to some Sea King based on Jormungandr that roams the sea around Elbaf, but then when One Piece: Dive to Grand Line came out, it was revealed that they indeed were referring to the Red Line.

Man, has he always turned pink? I thought it was a red-purpleish color but dont mind me I
ve always been somewhat of a daltonic myself.
What were the evidence of Luffy being weaker than Vice-admiral before the war?
Well, aside from Garp, who is obviously stronger than your average VA, Luffy got owned by Momonga and Dalmatian during the Marineford War. Granted, Luffy was already pretty tired by the time they got him, but the fact that Luffy didn't see the attacks coming and was unable to dodge them imply that he still wasn't ready to face a VA.
Plus, Luffy had no CoO and CoA back then, which all VAs seem to have.
I've seen it stated in many places that Hina helped Smoker keep his position when he was in trouble. I don't remember this, though. Where was it ever said in the story?
Sbs chapter 248 (it's in this sbs too that we learn their age)

Let me quote a great mind:
I tried reading Oda's mind earlier but his thoughts were in japanese, so I couldn't understand anything, therefore I do not know the answer of your question.
Let me quote a great mind:
I could have sworn that a person's thoughts were composed of both speech and images.
I could have sworn that a person's thoughts were composed of both speech and images.
The images are too abstract to be understood by someone else.

I can see why you don't use your mind reading powers to fight crime.
Oda sees in 4D and speaks in unicorns. You can not read his mind.
Dont know why I never thought of this before: Are fishmen on par(strength wise) with human zoan users? Or are Zoans superior?
@Rotten:
Dont know why I never thought of this before: Are fishmen on par(strength wise) with human zoan users? Or are Zoans superior?
How would you define strength?
Do we know how much stronger fishmen beacame in water?
I thought it was 2x stronger, but when I think about it, it isn't really a huge issue since the biggest change of power is when a human enters the water and not a fishman. Unless there's some clear reasoning behind the increase in power in water, that increase in power might just be their advantage versus humans, so like Strelok said, it depends on how you define that strength. I guess I'm only complicating things though, and I could be completely wrong.
What's gonna happen with that Axototl fruit? Will the Strawhats retrieve it?
