@Outerspec:
But what does any of this have to do with Hody? It's not about the money, revenge, or political power with him. His hatred lacks "will". There's no motive behind his hate and there's nothing he really wants to achieve. He's willing to kill everyone on Fishman Island including all the Fishman who hate humans. He's willing to kill his entire crew too. It's just empty. Really, I understand some people like him this way, but meh.
Actually, I guess it would be simpler to understand without analogy's… Kids are easy to influence. Its not uncommon to see sons of rich people thinking poorer people are scum. Its not uncommon of sons of racists to become racists themselves. Its not uncommon for grandsons of war heroes to hate the "enemy" of their grandfathers...
Hodi was a kid just like that. raised in a full of bandits and racists Fishman, he took as a fact that "Humans are BAD!" Here we can see them as kids. They, most likely, hadn't even seen a Human, yet they take them as annoying, and inferior. At this point is actually nice to see how Otohime made an effort to not let the kids be influenced by their parents hate.
Left like that, Hodi and his group would become powerless kids whining forever. Like those annoying brats I referred in my last post. However Fishman and Humans were beginning to conciliate. For Hodi and his group that was simply WRONG. Fishman MUST hate humans. Not because they are better, not because they breath underwater, but because thats what people taught them. They thaught them hate. And they couldn't live without that hate…
This was still not the final step for them to stop being useless brats. They could only hope of beeing sucessfull when they were granted POWER.
An insane amount of power in the hands of kids grown with hate… (I could make some theories with this, but It would ruin the credibility of trying to explain something)
And with so much power. They could conquer a country.
Thats what the New Fishman Pirates are... the results of the society influencing kids minds. And I so love this arc for that... I mean, after thinking, this was the only option that would make the arc totally related. Even the efforts of Queen Otohime, and the hate Fisher Tiger didn't want to spread.
And Hody, he is an empty vilain. A personification of pure Hatred. He only fights to keep the hate alive, cause he couldn't live without that hate. In his mind its just WRONG. And to spread that hate he is willing to kill even is own race.
I do believe that while humans did nothing to him, this emptiness of reason is a much refreshing way to handle a villain than the more than common tragic past. And while is character is shallow, the characterization of that shallowness was gorgeous. At the point of many fans not understanding why he was doing things.
And he has an objective, to spread the hate, and that was the only objective he needed. And for him thats a reason to waste your life, because is life would be even worse, if Humans and Fishman lived together happily ever after….
I think what I said is pretty OBVIOUS I basically just summarized what Oda has already said... Its just that with 1 week in between chapters, and so many theories circling around, its difficult to join all the details, and link them together. Thats why I like to re-read the arcs, it just gives a new light to everything.

@Aohige_AP:
Or, you know, his abuse of drugs finally catching up to him right after his defeat, literally rendering him a hollow shell of a man.
Now that would be an interesting development. Like him eating soup with a straw, not able to even blink. Maybe to extreme, but it would be an interesting development.
