RE: Street Fighter V
I like Abigail's personality, but he's still just 2big4me. It's at the point where he doesn't look like he even fits the art style anymore. His alt costumes are better than the default, but still. If he was just shrunk by like 10%, and his arms by 20%, then I'd have no problem and he'd still be a giant towering over the rest of the cast.
…watch me do a 180 in opinion after Alex Valle uses him to wreck Bonchan or something, tho :ninja:

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Man, all my friends have Splatoon 2 and are enjoying the hell out of it, meanwhile I'm sat around waiting for Nintendo to release a Switch bundle of some sort. Japan got a splatoon bundle, where's one for the US!?
Maybe for Odyssey…

RE: Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Speculation
Been watching some footage of this game, and I'm starting to think that all of Capcom's efforts to make the game more newbie-friendly have gone to waste. With the flexibility of the tag mechanic, the ease of OTGs, plus the gems, it looks as easy as ever for a veteran to trap a new player in mixup hell and make them feel helpless. Isn't that what they wanted to avoid?

RE: Pokemon Ultra S&M - Let's Minecraft Pikachu and Eevee Quest
I had a ton of fun with Moon, so I'm slightly interested in the new games. After all, BW2 proved to be a very worthwhile play even after BW, so maybe USM will be of similar quality?
Will take a pass on Gold/Silver VC, though. I have Polished Crystal if I want to scratch that nostalgia itch. I just can't deal with the archaic Gen 2 mechanics these days.

RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Sometimes people forget OPM is primarily a gag manga, with some amazing artwork and action scenes thrown in to sweeten the deal. Suiryuu's fight with Saitama, and then the monsters, was climactic enough a fight scene for me. Can't wait for the second season of the anime!

RE: Mob Psycho Universe - Thread Title Season 2
Tsubomi seems like a shallow person, and Mob is infatuated with her because she's pretty, and she's his first crush. He's put her on a pedestal, imagining she's perfect, when he really doesn't know a damn thing about her. The kid is in middle school, he doesn't know what love is.
I hope (and expect) this ends in rejection. Or maybe, he realizes that he isn't in love with her, he's just crushing on his fabricated image of a person who doesn't actually exist. Or maybe ONE will surprise me with another twist, but it's definitely not gonna go as planned.
But more importantly, I wonder if we can expect any significance to the upcoming 100th chapter…

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Don't know who would really argue against that.
both Mario Galaxies, NSMBW, DKC Returns, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Brawl, Xenoblade Chronicles, MK Wii, Return to Dreamland, Smooth Moves, Super Paper Mario, Radiant Dawn, Punch-Out, Prime 3, City Folk
vs
3D World, NSMBU, Tropical Freeze, BotW, Sm4sh, Xenoblade Chronicles X, MK 8, Rainbow Curse, Game & Wario, Color Splash, Pikmin 3, Splatoon, Wooly World, Starfox 0, Mario Maker
personally, I think the WiiU wins on most fronts, but I could totally see someone preferring the Wii's offerings.

RE: General Fire Emblem Thread - At Least Mario Got a Funeral
@.access:
d'oh! Renault, Legault, practically the same thing, right? :P
Echoes maps are basically this but much prettier

They are some decent ones by Gaiden standards and others that are really really bad like I'm talking about the worst maps in the series because they didn't improve then and decided to be 95% faithfull to the original game maps.oh… oh dear.

RE: General Fire Emblem Thread - At Least Mario Got a Funeral
While everybody else is on Echoes, I'm taking the opportunity to replay FE7, since it's been like a decade.
and MAN, I'm struck by just how much STUFF is going on in each map. It's not just one single gimmick, there's multiple objectives and wrenches thrown in. Chapter 19 stands out in particular - it's essentially an indoors map, which means the usual doors+chests+breakable walls shenanigans. Plus there's a thief trying to steal them before you, but you can recruit him. Then the OTHER thief comes in, and you need to steal HIS member card, and then go to BOTH the secret shops. Plus three sets of repeating reinforcements, from totally different sides of the map. Oh, and you need to defend Merlinius, too. I ended up letting Renault steal as much as he wanted, then recruited him afterwards so he did my work for me, before boxing in the other thief and robbing him blind. While, you know, dealing with the other enemies, including the mini-boss Paladin who rushes you from the start.
And it felt like I could've played the map with different overall strategies, too! I think I'm really starting to see where the criticism of Awakening's map design comes from - with that game, I was more engaged in the "strategy" of raising my units in the way I wanted, and didn't really mind the relative lack of strategy in the battles. Not sure I could overlook that in a replay, though…
Now, I've heard people (on other sites) complain about the boring maps in Echoes, but what do y'all think? How does it compare to other FE games?
