Chapter 583 "Final Destination of Uncertainty (The Gray Terminal)" Discussion

ok well just a thought….

just because theres wanted posters sent around the world dosent mean that every one reads them i mean why would an average guy in east blue read wanted posters for
-
pretty uneventful chapter. i hope the story picks up in the next chapter.
-
I will try not to read OP this week so that I'll have 2 chapters to read next week, because I'm almost certain that there will be nothing thrilling for some time :-\ Last week I was so disappointed to have waited for 2 weeks, finished reading the chapter in 10 minutes and to miss that usual satisfaction feeling in the end…
-
Did I comment on this chapter yet? I forget.
This chapter bored the shit out of me.
It wasn't bad.
Just boring.
It's an important set-up chapter and he squeezed in a lot of important emotions for pay-off later but it still bored the ever-living out of me.
Big let-down.
Had to get that out. Looking forward to the next chapter.
-
that`s the fate of flashbacks(specially their beginning)..
but we have to see the whole picture and there it will be an importnat kind of piece:happy: -
A boring chapter after a boring arc.
-

Of course. That's for certain. But man…even with the reveal of Sabo it was just...I dunno.
-
Really just a stuff-that-happened chapter, I liked that Sabo had a top hat. Artful dodger style.
-
It is true, if those bandits from the first volume don't recognize shanks, it doesn't mean they don't know his name is.
I kinda wish oda reveal more about shanks' past.
What's his power, how come a down to earth pirate become a yonkou.I kind of viewed them as too arrogant to care. Higuma had a measly 8 million and went around bragging. To them they were a big threat, but I guess information disputation is varied in the OP world. In the Grand Line, things would be more on a "need to know" basis but outside of the Grand Line, the rest of the world would be kept in the dark. Remember, by the WGs standards they don't even want pirates to exist, or anyone reading the Paraglyphs… So propreganda is high.

Ohohohoho… Paraglyphs.... that's good.
An early morning laugh is always healthy.

Honestly there was not all that much interesting this chapter even if it was not bad .
I guess we all have to adjust to the pre war tune of waiting years to seeing characters we want to again , and especialy with this flashback .
-
Hmmm….I think that hoodlum Sabo will dine in hell in two or three weeks. That is his duty because only in Luffy's flashback no one died yet. Or is it Ace's flashback? That makes sence also.
-

They are not the base of what I'm saying about Shanks not being a Yonkou yet 10 years ago, it was just one point of it.
For example, if Shanks already was in the Yonkou level he could have knocked down all the bandits with his haki and saved Luffy without any trouble, they were a bunch of weaklings it would have been easy, instead he only was capable of using it once, when he got pissed off after saving Luffy from the sea monster attack, to scare the monster… So he probably still hadn't complete control over his haki.
And the most clear indicative is the change in his crew members appearance, they obviously got a lot stronger since then...
Jezz….oda make the first chapter like 13 years ago.
And of course everyone improve after 10 years. He lost his arm to some stupid monster is kinda dumb.
but oda 13 years ago isnt the same like oda rite now.
His story telling and drawing skill's improving.Remember the smoke bom? that was stupid too.

http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/434/11/Whitebeard commented on how everyone was surprised when Shanks lost his arm back in East Blue, so i guess he was quite famous that time, and by everyone WB does certainly not mean the WB pirates only.
Another fact is that Shanks was Dueling with Mihawk at that time also, then he must've been quite the pirate again.imo he could've been Yonkou or at least near Yonkou level (well known and feared) when he was at Fuschia.
Don't forget East Blue is the most peaceful sea in all OP world so those guys there don't really know about GL's matters, and less about th new world.Far too simple.
Learn about Haki at chapter 1 ? It would have been boring, we'll be a SJ3 right now.The goal was to give Luffy the desire to travel the world. Seeking haki/any omfg skill would have destroyed the spirit of the adventure. Luffy wouldn't have grown the same.
Thanks to Shanks, he seeks adventure, freedom, nakama and fun.

True, but it doesn't deny the fact that so that the sequence of events in OP's storyline doesn't be messed up, for Shanks not have used his haki there he has to not have been able to use it, so he must have learned to do it only after that… Because, now that we know he can knock down weaklings using his haki, it wouldn't make sense he not have used it to save Luffy if he already could do it... So even if Oda originally intended to leave the possibility for him to have been a Yonkou already when he was at Fuschia village, now that we know about his haki, he has to have become a Yonkou after his visit to Luffy's island so that everything makes sense...
You must consider that we are talking about Oda here, there are no such things as big flaws in his story...

To be honest not this time. Though i dont think it matter considering my reaction. Ill read thé last pages tomorrow.

Oh I was writing "Paragraphs" on another webpage and somehow I ended up combining the two on that post… Okay thats something I've never done before.
Edit:
Moral of the day - don't switch between multiple browser tabs while writing. -
I feel like the most intriguing part of this chapter was the cover. Even though it's two characters I really don't care for, I'm wondering if something's going to come of this. Is it confirmed to be an actual serial or whatever? If it is I'm wondering if they'll somehow meet up with Perona or even Moria. If it's confirmed not to be one disregard this.

but Moria died…...............[sobb]
anyways, flash back's kinda boring too I have to agree…
I mean common!! Ace's GONNA DIE ANYWAYS!
We all know THAT's going to happen..... lolz []
Seriously, no need to have more build-ups for an already dead-announced char.
Boring-

Unless he comes back to life :ninja:. (which would be gay).
But I think Oda isnt building up Ace I think hes rather just building up Luffys relationship with Ace, so it will show the significance of their bond, and it will show how Luffy got hit hard emotionally, up until now nothing major has happened in his life (like all of the other crewmembers), and this is his event that will probably mature him, make him stronger emotionally, and make his bond stronger between his Nakama.
-
yeah i totally agree it has been boring chapters in the past few weeks

In light of the recent cover chapter, we really do not know if Moria is dead or not.

All flashbacks start this way n00b.
-
Cover is not part of the story.
If it was Oda would have included the, "Where are they now?" caption he used right before Ener's story.
UNLESS Shueisha fucked up.
But I don't think that's the case.

Face it people, we'll never gonna see Moria again.
He's DEAD. []

I love the exposition of cooldown chapters the best, they are usually the most revealing about the One Piece world. Also the tension of those climactic battles gets tiresome after a while, although Oda sustains it well enough, I feel a huge relief when we get to relax with chapters like these last couple and a few huge questions finally get answered (Dadan!).
-
Face it people, we'll never gonna see Moria again.
He's DEAD. []
Did we see his corpse? Did we see the final attack? Did we see anything like in all other deaths?
No… So who knows what Oda will do with Moria^^
-

Boring-
There's no need to tell anything. Someone always finds it boring. At least I'm excited to see how Ace and Luffys relationship will develop.
If you want nothing but action, try different manga. -
He'll become like KUMA!!!
-

He's DEAD. []
As many know, Oda doesn't laxidasically kill characters.
Yes, Oda revealed Dolfa's intent and "orders from above" regarding the killing of Moria but like mentioned above…there was no death scene, final words, or any concrete evidence of Moria's death...
It MAY be safe to assume that any death Oda decides to reveal moving forward would have more than enough emphasis on the "dead" part thus knocking out disputes of whether X or Y is really dead or not.
Oda mentioned that there is no point in killing someone if they are going to be brought back....might as well not kill them in the first place.
-
Roll the dice…......

So Shandia flashback with Norland, Drum island flashback with Hiruluk, and all of Roger flashbacks are boring as well?
Because you know, they're all dead.I for one, can't wait for Fisher Tiger flashbacks.

For them, we didn't know how they would've ended up in the end.
But for ace, we all know…. -_-
Trust me, it's as blend as you can get with "ACE".
Especially because he was EMO too, GODDDDD................................ []

Could you expand on what I highlighted? Because, all of the people you are comparing Ace to were already dead when we first learned about them…The Emo Ace stuff is funny, but I hope you're aware of how seldom Ace actually complained about his father. Just because it was discussed to death on this forum doesn't mean it happened frequently in the actual storyline.
-
It is not Ace's flashback, it is Luffy's you boring dumbtards!
-
Ugh… should've known, too many Ace fans.... Darn.
I bet they love him even more because he's EMO now..... Urg...[]

This is Luffy's flashback that will show us his built up development, not Ace's.If Sabo dies and Ace learn how to get over that, Luffy will thus learn how to get over Ace's death, which is also a development and a step to maturity. That may falsify Greg's statement ("Luffy is done growing, all he needs is Shanks losing his arm saving him")
-
This is the best way for Oda to have Luffy grow, all other of the SH's have had pasts that involve extreme loss that motivated them to achieve their individual dreams and is the reason they are in the crew to begin with. Luffy was the only one not to have had a significant loss in his life and he was motivated by someone who was alive, Shanks
Oda needed to have Luffy "grow up" (not too much, hopefully) before they reach the New World because its the turning point of the series and he is the only person in the crew to not have suffered the loss of a major person in their life until now. Killing Ace was the most effective way to do this, short of killing off Shanks and I think hes saving that card..
