Heh, I've been waiting a coverstory ever since Oda completed all the regular "SH's plus Vivi and Karue covers with animals", the last of which was in Chapter 573.
Then comes Chapter 574, and Oda begins a new kind of cover, the "Group of Strawhats with animals". And then I was eagerly awaiting for all the Strawhats plus Vivi and Karue to appear so that we could begin a coverstory. Vivi and Karue came last in Chapter 579.
Okay! So we would get a new coverstory next, right?
Wrong. By chapter 580 we begin "Random Group with Animals" cover. First "Tashigi, Cobby and Helmeppo", then "Buggy and Shanks".
And now what appears to be the weirdest of them all "Absalom and Hogback". However, since the text in the cover is chinese, we can't confirm is this is another random cover, a "Where are they Now" cover or a coverstory… :sad:

THe worst thing about these random covers is that we can't predict when a coverstory would come. Before, we could just wait for all Strawhats plus Vivi and Karoo to appear, and then we would get a coverstory or "Where are they now" cover. Now we can't possibly know what characters will appear next.
only one problem with that. all the marines who are anybody were at marineford, they had to be.
I'm not trying to prove you wrong, because my theory is just a wild speculation at what twist Oda will employ, but he could simply have a position like Magellan which does not allow him to leave his post even during events like Ace's execution where everyone that was important showed up.
I prefer it when the SH meet Marines that walk a fine line between Pirate and Marine than Pirates that are either purely evil or simply "forgettable allies."
I've got an idea that could support the "Sabo backstabbed Ace in some way and disappeared" theory: What if the crossed-out "S" in the "ASCE" tattoo is not the artist's mistake but was Ace's way of saying "Fuck you for all eternity, Sabo"?

I think you're reading too much into that.
If Sabo survives, I could see him running away with all the money while Ace decides to save Luffy.
Or for a more emo version, Sabo thinks Ace's dead, curses Luffy and runs away with the money. This is an "emo" version because Sabo should later know that Ace survived… 
but would still blame Luffy for failing to save Ace in the present time.

Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.
It would be awesome if he lives and is a bounty hunter in the new world. It would be nice to have that side in the story again. It could also be a reason why he didn't go to Marineford and try and save Ace.
If Sabo dies here that means Luffy would only have known him for a few hours at most, currently Sabo might as well be a stranger to him. I don't think Ace would have bothered to mention Sabo to Luffy if Sabo didn't grow up with them.
Also, I don't think Ace would have said "If it wasn't for Sabo(or the Sabo indecent) and Luffy he wouldn't have wanted to live", if Sabo wronged them in anyway way. That makes me think Ace had great respect for them both. I'm against the theory of Sabo pulling some backstabbing move on Ace and Luffy.
If anything I believe all 3 will have nothing but respect for each other by the end of this flasback. The only way I can see Sabo dieing is if there are more timeskips within the flashback to allow Luffy to get to know him better and Sabo dies somewhere before Luffy turns 14.
I think this flashback is going to be more about Ace nearly dieing anyway, rather then Sabo. :/

Sabo is important to Ace and Luffy knows Sabo, so I think if Sabo dies here, it's enough for Ace to mention him before he dies. Why do you think Ace need Luffy to grow up with Sabo to mention him?

Also Luffy dies and this was his last adventure as a 17yo, cause this is going to be flashback only till he's 17 
The spin off series from One Piece will be Zoro becoming Pirate King, Usopp becoming Sumo Champion and Sanji becoming Okama Queen 
I don't know, I guess I just find it a little random for Ace to mention Sabo to Luffy if he only knew him for an hour or so more then 10 years ago.
Surly between the ages of 7 to 14(Luffy) and 10 to 17(Ace) there were many other kids around their age they met and talked to.
I mean I don't remember anyone I knew for more then a week let alone for a couple hours more then 10 years ago and surly not anyone I met for so little time when I was 7. I think that line would only confuse Luffy into thinking who the heck is Sabo.
That's why I think Sabo must have been alive for more time and is probably still alive in the present story. Unless of course he's horribly brutally murdered in front of Luffy which I doubt Oda would do. Well, maybe… he did do it to 17 year old Luffy so I guess it's possible. :/
I just think the flashback will end on a happy note. Since I think the point of this is to try and help Luffy overcome his current state of mind. What would be the point of Luffy remembering something that would only make him feel worse?

I was disappointed by this chapter. It felt entirely uninspired.
For a part like this that is basically telling Luffy and Ace's backstory, its ok if every chapter isn't epic and have some great revelation, when you piece it all together in the end it will all fit together perfectly.
I liked the chapter, it didn't have much to it really but it still showed alot of how it was like in the beginning between Ace and Luffy, it seems the flashbacks will end in 2 weeks (since I think we are supposed to be going on another break ='( )
Now that we are seeing the origins of Ace's hat (yeah, that's as dumb as it sounds) What happened to his hat?
Did he lost it in the battle against BB or they requised it at Impel Down?
