Commander Agpar?
Really?
Commander Agpar?
Really?
Ah yes introduce two long ass passages about a broken quirk and set up the stage for mind games…
Only to throw it all away to rely on brute force writing and Susannos
You can't get anymore 2000s shounen than this.
I'm not even worried about my prediction years ago regarding how the end game fights is going to turn out exactly like Naruto and Bleach with how things are going.
I like how the story itself admits that Stripes power is childish, like a little kid in a playground shouting his made-up superpowers. That said, I really don´t want Shiggy-Afo to get his hands on it, it´s too broken.
Also, although it was a little too long, the analysis about the quirk was interesting. The fact that either Tomura or Tenko mentioned Mon-chan was a little sad too.
I like her powers…But I'm not interested in her or Shiggy not Shiggy as characters. I'm still miffed we jumped to this instead of having down time with the school. There was a lot to cover in that.
I like Star keeping her distance after her quirk failed on Shiggy For One. Also like her giving Endeavor props. Still, I really wish the character was introduced sooner in the series even if was just by name.
Question to anyone who saw the 3rd movie: Are Star And Stripe and Captain Celebrity in the movie? If so, what did they do?

! Nope, they're not in it. Unless it's a very quick blink-and-you-miss-it background thing.
This fight has already lost me
Goddamn, this chapter was genius. Horikoshi is a genius. No, I swear I'm not being extra gay for the sake of self-deprecating humor. Okay, I am but only because I'm in a whimsical mood. Swear!
"Fist Bump to the Earth" is a genius name holy shit.
Very clunky chapter for meRandom hunter hunter style exposition for what could probably be summarize in 2-3 dialogues.
I liked the relation between Star and the pilots in previous chapters and how we just saw their great partnership and inferred their history. But they beat you over the head about how they are brothers in this one For reason I dont understand Stars killing Facepalm with the air is heinous crime that will cost her everything even beyond her license but also makes her awesome. Hopefully I misunderstood and its more about the US shooting missiles at another country and she'll be the scapegoat.
Why would missiles be much then concentrated lasers? A constant stream of burning should be more effective against regeneration then explosions I feel. Unless its nukes which I doubt they are.
Still don't quite grasp all the rules behind Star's quirk, but whatever.
Commander Agpar?
Really?
Shout-out to Admiral Ackbar or Zoidberg?
Since Hori is a SW fan is Ackbar, but be quite or the Mouse will DMCA Shueisha.

1- Can do wathever with non sentient things
2- Need to agree on their identity with sentient things to do stuff to them.
3- Making stuff more powerful then they are has a limit. Making it weaker/die doesnt (apparently).
One other thing to consider is she has to touch things to implement her rules. They actually shot the lasers at her and she looked much more damaged after receiving the lasers than beforehand. You'd think as long as it takes her to actually speak her command she is still "touching" and therefore being damaged by the lasers.
CCC you magnificent bastard.
Our homegrown hero. We don't deserve you!
Our homegrown hero. We don't deserve you!
We also have Stephen translating One Piece, and Greg doing all the random Greg things.
I'll never recover from CCC subtracting from TT. His threads literally made me care more about MHA.
f*ck the fandom sometimes
f*ck the fandom sometimes
It's even worse when you consider it was mostly started and kept by Endeavour's fan that from an old trivia post (Shouto Todoroki: origin) took that he didn't liked the character and was translating stuff to keep the character in a bad light despite the atonement arc. And other weirdos that think because the know a language they can translate better than a pro.
I wasn'r aware of that, well, I double down my last post.
! Did we really have to feed All for One yet another overpowered quirk?
You know Coookie
! Kids might lose interest if the fights aren't too flashy. And he wouldn't want to get axed now.
They're not going to axe HeroAca, Shueisha makes way too much from merchandizing and films to do so.

I know that Julie, I'm mocking the apparent Axe PTSD that Hori suffers and lead him to write the most boring, rushed and predictible scenarios.

What indication is that he's writing with PTSD and not just that editorial is its usual greedy self? If anything Horikoshi seems to be focusing on drawing what he wants for the last two arcs…MILFs...
well when the class a vs b arc started, hero academia dropped down to the 5s and 6s during ToCs.
now that's not bad if no one has any knowledge of how consistently it ranks but it was running on the same period as when Souma was pulling bullshit moments and two other ecchi series manage to outrank him.
To be honest, he can do whatever he wants at this point because even if it goes into hellfire, he wouldn't be cancelled until the series end. He won't write whatever he wanted to because it won't sell and is likely autopiloting the plot at certain points.
The editors seem to be some kind of convenient scapegoat by fans, especially whenever bad shit happens or when the story sucks but they never seem to get high praise for things they have done and steered. I'm not playing that game, he is obviously a functioning and intelligent adult who should be able to oppose decisions from editorial and resist pressure from the herd of his fanbase.
Horikoshi cares a lot more about ranking and popularity than he really should, and it shows.
The lack of an REAL aftermath for the War for anyone beside Izuku, the fact that all that shit happened before a single school year finished, Mirio's deux ex recovery for the sake of fan service, killing Twice, making AFO's post Kamino discourse null by having him hijack Shigi, anyone in class A not named Izuko, Bakugo and Todoroki have little to no relevant screen time, that lack of serious heroes deaths in the War (only Midnight), etc.
All that sound like a writer that's desperate to not drop in popularity, besides the series being in it's seventh year, due to his previous cancelations. No wonder his assitent behind Red Hood was soo sour over the axing.
This is entering Bleach and Naruto levels of ridiculous. The warning signs were there when it turned out that Deku could have access to multiple powers.
making AFO's post Kamino discourse null by having him hijack Shigi.
what are you talking about
what are you talking about
The whole passing the torch to it's protegee is null if your whole plan was to hijack your protegee's body.
The whole passing the torch to it's protegee is null if your whole plan was to hijack your protegee's body.
AFO was never planning to pass the torch he was only using and manipulating shigaraki like he does with everyone else. he directly tells us this in his first scene
He's now explaining practically every move in a battle with introspection. Might as well drop the images altogether.
Hero X Hero
I really don't see how the last chapters are any indication that Horikoshi is nervous about ranking. So far it just reads like an author trying to find the best and most exciting way to create a final arc. I have my complaints but I wouldn't say any of the chapters as of late have been bad, and especially not near the levels of bullshittery of Bleach and Naruto.
Also, even if Hori DOES care about rankings, what in the world is wrong about that? When you publish a work for a mass audience it's your job to keep an eye on what the audience wants. That's like… basic marketing.
Pretty boring chapter
The relation went from natural to force in the last 2 chapters between Star and the pilots so I didnt connect at all emotionally. And I feel those professional law enforcement would probably do it even if after they cry their eyes out.
I have to assume the guy was simply wrong about the whole if you explode my one jet this will definitely kill Facepalm. And the idea that someone with god powers got mocked because her super strength wasnt as good as All Might's is silly to me.
The way Facepalm avoided death was fairly boring. Redirecting misiles is a boring use of that power compared to everything else like using lasers or air as a weapon. And Missiles being better than lasers for regeneration is non sense to me. A constant stream should be more hurtful to an auto repairing organism than a big explosion

So, in other words, we better prepare for lolis, fanservice and tentacles?

Idk, pretty much checks out with fan reactions of our current world. You could be a number one in the world in any field, but make a mistake or fail or just don't be as good as someone else in something, and there comes the army of trolls and haters to take a shit on everything you've ever done.
As far as I'm concerned, Hori at least has the general public and their reactions nailed.

I stand by silly. We are talking about those who knew her personally. I dont think it tracks they mock her for lacking strength instead of sucking up for having a godly quirk. Most people dont even have super strength. Like I'm sure in the large pool of people Usain bolt meet some like to mock the way he runs but I would guess most people focus on his crazy great athletics. And those who know him personally probably think about how crazy it is they know someone that won gold medals.
But then again I also thought it made no sense that Deku a first year student with great strength and good enough showing at the festival would receive no offer for interships. So I guess me and the other have completely different ideas how people react.
sigh…. and 16 characters i guess
And then Endeavor appears out of nowhere and cut off Shigallforone's arm with his fire sword.
It's amazing how boring such a clash can feel. Hori needs to get his writing act together.
Star points at Captain Celebrity
Next, It's your turn!
We knew Star wasn't going to win . . .
Feeling half-and-half on this chapter.
On it's own this little "star arc" has been good. Some absolutely fantastic art with great sense of speed and especially scale. Those scenes where Star creates her gigantic air body are amazing. And despite the few chapters spent with her I feel I've got a good idea of who Star is, of her quirk and personality. The little flashback at the start was cute too. It might not make the most sense for such a powerful figure, but after having to sit through the fuckery of Fire Force it's so nice to see a Mangaka deal with sexism right. It's a small thing, but just pointing out that people though she'd be limited by her gender but her friends telling her not to worry about it, and never saying that stuff themselves, it means a lot.
But in the context of the entire series I just don't see the point of these chapters. What do they add to the story? I want to see the class, not yet another random character who's gonna kick the bucket in three chapters. There's also a lot of panels crammed with text. Thankfully there's enough art to make up for it, but it doesn't make for a nice reading experience to constantly be cut off by a wall of text.
There is NOTHING more boring in Shonen than fights against undamageable sponge walls. Yawn
The State-of-the-Art Hypersonic Ballistic Punch was amazing though. Completely wasted, but amazing!
The action in this fight was great but my god, if Shiggy really does get this power I just don't see how Deku is meant to be able to beat him, short of Talk no Jutsu. Shiggy's development really does feel like it's getting to the ridiculous levels that Madara did in Naruto and I don't like that.
Deku made it pretty clear he wants to do the talk no jitsu route, so… Yeah. That's almost certainly how it's going to end.
This could have been cool if anyone ever thought Star would win or if we knew about Star before the chapter she was revealed.
Just because she always uses 1 rule on herself doesn't mean she wouldn't change in an emergency and use both on herself.
1. My quirk can't be stolen/taken.
2. I can't crumble to dust/can't be killed.
