@Chrior:
Yeah, it wasn't exactly Law vs. Smoker level. But it wasn't hard to follow, just a bit weird, imo.
It is not hard to follow because it is all simple moves, you don't really need to figure out what is happening, but… the transitions between panels don't make much sense.
I mean, Hawkins is advancing at high speed towards Law. Law creates a Room and then throws a rock at Hawkins so he can change place with the rock using Chambres. So far, everything is fine.
Law appears in front of Hawkins holding his sword up ready to slash him. From his position, obviously he is going for a downward diagonal slash going from Hawkins right shoulder to his waist (or splitting his head open down).
But when we move to the next panel, Hawkins was cut from his left shoulder down. How?
Also, Law positioning is all over the place. He is behind Hawkins, which makes sense since Hawkins was moving forwards. But the way Law body is drawn is like it is bent to left. His body being bent to its left doesn't make sense when he supposedly moved his whole body (he was holding the sword with both hands) to the right and the fact it is so heavily bent would only make sense if he suffered an impact, it's almost as if he was hit and was falling (when I saw this panel on the spoilers, I thought it was Hawkins who had slashed Law and not the contrary). Even the fact his hand loosen the grip on the sword gives the impression he was cut rather than having cut (although this part is not a problem, it could work either way). Also his sword is pointing up as if he made an upward attack!
This panel is really bothering me because it seems so terribly composed.
Then we have the following page with Law readying a horizontal slash, which is confirmed two panels later when he cuts through multiple enemies with a circular swing… except between those two panels we have one with his sword going down on a vertical move!? And Hawkins reacts to the move with shock, Law with a smug smile and we immediately have Hawkins blocking his attack and neither he is shocked, nor Law is smiling and somehow the blade that was shoot was already in position to block Law attack (although this one can be explained by Hawkins apparently having full control over the blade, its movements and expansion/contraction).
It is all very weird, but it is really the panel with Law behind Hawkins that is annoying me.
This will probably sound like nitpicking for a lot of people, but fighting choreography is something that catches my attention.
