Get outta here, man. You don't have any clue about anything we just discussed, for example, that it's the same thread for a wobbly scan of one page or the whole HD scanlation. And that one can't easily see at which point in time we are by reading the thread -for example last week, the scanlation was out, but not linked to on the starting page of the spoiler thread. This is just one example of inconvenience. As you do not know when the full scan came out when reading the thread. I mean, you do realize that there are people coming here and reading the 15 pages of a thread at once instead of reading the thread 3 times a day and watching it grow, right?

And as you seem to like to ask rhetorical questions in bold caps, this one is purely for you: IS YOUR READING PROFICIENCY REALLY THAT LOW TO NOT GET THAT? Do you really lack the basic empathic capabilities to understand what the problem is for some people like me, but also quite a few others from what I can tell by shifting through the pages? Well alright, you stated your view on the matter in that it should stay as it is right now; to go even further, you deny the possibility of us even having an argument to begin with. Again, I don't really think you grasped the concept of what the problem actually is - but that is your right, shouting an opinion without understanding the subject matter. Just for you, knowing full well that all it will bring me is flaming and misery, I'll repeat my two main points again: convenience and traceability.

Tbh, I don't have any clue anymore as to which thread I should look at to get to read any discussion about anything - at first one scanlated page comes out, there is pages of nothing more than educated guesses on that, then the scanlation comes out, but no one links it as easily accessible as it was done during the last 12 years, at least not to my stupid a** -, I don't have any idea where to go to get my chapter link to JB or whatever site is the hotness atm, so I browsed those sites for myself the last week without coming here; and I stupidly found myself clicking the chapter thread again right now when in fact it's about the chapter that came out through scanlations a while ago, so I read that discussion about that already, but I guess I'm gonna read the same things multiple times now in anticipation of any new knowledge shared in the newer thread - which is basically akin to leaving me to switch between two threads if I don't follow their progress hourly.

Just some feedback from a dude that visited your site week after week for 12 years now ( started here when Lucci got KO'd - around chapter 328 or something, can't remember ), but is seriously considering just bookmarking JB at the moment as he is too stupid and lazy to follow the discussions and the exact release date of every page scan/whole chapter scan/VIZscan ( which I do not even get in my country, which makes the whole 'new thread policy' even more cumbersome to me personally as the starting of the new thread does not amount to anything I can experience whatsoever ) as they come out and give new impulses to said discussions. Should it turn out that I'm in the minority and this feedback is not of use to anyone, I'm deeply sorry to have wasted your time.

When was that or that post made? Was that post in the spoiler thread made with the whole chapter out as scanlation already or just the one page? Is there air? You don't know!

From what I gathered from the first few pages of this thread, Kaidou is a stupidly boring character without personality that also drin…...OMG WE LOVE HIM HE'S SO COOL!

Nah Oda, you have to work harder for it. The real shame? The whole of the world we know and we've come to love since 1999 ( at least in my country ), all of it - the strongest guys on earth, ruling half of the earth alone and some other stuff by proxy, feel flat as fck pappmachéé cardboard pinups with one predominat trait that is played ad nauseam within a few chapters. And seeing as we got Kaidou now, this will essentially be the last big bad EVER to be introduced, depending on what IM does. Of course we will get more backstory which will make him interesting somehow, but am I the only one who feels the 'power of plot' and a hint of 'rushing through things' here? Wano, hungry damsel in distress, damsel that acts tough but will get the damsel treatment, because woman, Fodder 1, village food, castle, time travel, plan, Hawkins, Jack, Kaidou, and he has to be a dragon, ofc...
How many chapters in are we? Has Robin even been taken after the same amount of chapters in W7? In Skypea, was Eneru already shown after the same amount of chapters?

I'm not asking rhetorical to make a point, I genuinely like to know - would help me answer why I feel this is all so forced.

And that's basically the end gauntlet of the series, with Blackbeard and Akainu thrown in there for good measure? That means we will get like 6 more years of Hic!, Cake!, Die!, Ultimate Justice!...oh my, I should somewhat enjoy this, but all I can think about is the idea of 'Let Simpsons Die' - well deserved rest for popcultural icons. I'm going to say that I wouldn't have been sad if he had finished it in 20 years - it hurts to watch one of your favorite media things slowly drift away from you because its target audience is and always will be 14 years old.

Nothing should ever take 25 years in succession to complete, except maybe prison sentences. Or building pyramids.

I get what you are saying and if / when it comes like you predicted, I won't have any problem with that. Again, not sold on my own theory, not promoting it, just saying 'I had a thought and it goes a little sum' like this'.

One last thing - should they manage to get back to where they came from ( through whatever reason ), of course something would change. They could tell the then-shogun that in 20 years his country will be free again if he dies now - as the time traveler's can report to have set all the wheels in motion to end the reign of the new shogun. And we readers could see the shogun go out with a smile on his face knowing that the whole ordeal would just be an intermezzo of 20 years. Who knows how often that time fruit may have sent Kinemon 20 years in the future already, having him try to get Wano back for Momo and coming back to 20 years ago if the plan does not work, only to get send again? I certainly do not.

And yeah, that 20 year old picture I spoke of would mean that they are, after seeing the timeline where it all works out for Wano, delivering themselves to their enemy - and they would now be dead. Prototypical Oda writing style - life goal achieved, die with smile.

The ending would still be 'happy' as Wano will be free, but it will not be costless / cheap - victories should and do demand sacrifices, as has been established in the context of the series many times by now. On the other hand, Momo would have to stay in the future no matter what, wouldn't he? So that Wano has a shogun after the Wano arc. Let me think about all of that some more

You think so? It was the very first thought popping into my head, so I can't be blamed for overthinking it Maybe for putting out something stupid, but definitely not for overthinking it. Underthinking, if anything.

The idea only grew stronger in my mind, seeing we have this 'circle of life' thing with Roger and Luffy hinted at multiple times by now, plus the very simple reasoning that in every time travel media I ever consumed it was always the present that, by trying to fix something in the past, creates the very thing they were trying to save the present from. And even if that won't happen as predicted, I really do expect the time traveler's to get back to their time - with Luffy, after they got back to 20 years ago, looking at a picture displaying the faces of Kinemon, Momo etc while they are smiling - a 20 year old photograph, as we readers will then see. Something along those lines.

I don't have any ties to my theory at all, and it could be so wrong that it's laughable - but what if not? Imagine the closure you'd get by finding out Luffy is the 'real' hero, towering over Roger, right from what is now 20 years ago. I'd find that an interesting option to explore, and the craftiest way I can think of to establish Luffy as 'above' Roger, which translates to being the true savior of the world. I feel by the end of the manga Luffy will have to have eclipsed Roger through some way or another, or he can't be the protagonist in a shonen.

And if it's all bull, meh, so be it.

Let me get this straight: The time-traveling dudes are from 20 years ago and are sent to 'now', most probably before their shogun dies ( as we know he does ). Meh, why not, we've seen devil fruits that are more hax than that ( Ope Ope basically makes you an invincible god if we're honest ). So now my first question is: In contrast to most time travel stories in media, how could you send someone forward in time to change anything about your situation in the past? Or did they just send Momo and his bodyguards to a point in time when they felt the commotions of what was essentially a civil war would have died down, so Momo would have a fighting chance at reclaiming the shogun title? Or does that devil fruit simply do 20 years forward and nothing else?

But the one question that gets me hyped beyond belief is: Seeing that now we could see Roger in his prime 20 years ago, be it in a kind of flash-sideway (flashback feels wrong as both time zones are essentially next to each other on the timeline, now - directly connected ) or through the time travelers being able to get back to 20 years ago and meet up with Roger again, the question that hurts my brain the longer I think about it, yet I feel it touches on what is basically greatness created by Oda:

Will Roger's capture, his death or his quest to find One Piece have been directly influenced by what stories and facts about 'Luffy / Strawhats' the time travelers bring back to Roger 20 years ago?

In other terms, will Luffy directly influence Roger to do some of the things that inspired Luffy in the first place? Is that why Roger arranged his execution to be in East Blue, with the help of his marine friends? Will Luffy's actions on Wano today convince Roger 20 years ago he has to turn himself in and start the Age of Pirates, so that everything can lead up to this very spot in time just like it basically already did?

If so, I feel Oda had this time travel thing under wraps for 20 years now, as it is so essential to the whole plot that it had to have been there as an idea right from the very beginning of One Piece - and that level of story crafting would basically leave me in awe and wonder.

Joined here when my country's licensed version was at Puffing Tom chasing to EL, the scanlations had Lucci defeated already, I believe.

In all those arcs I read since then, I started liking the beginning chapters of every arc less and less, because one could reasonably say that it's the same thing every time. Yes, there is some sort of illusion of variety, but the major building blocks are there every time - and it's like my 7th arc start after starting to read weekly, so I start to feel the repetitiveness of it all coming around. I'm like 'Check, here is the pretty designed girl in distress' or 'Hey, which leader character is the evil one? The shogun in this case? Check.' 'Where is the old, good ruler that's in Exile? check' - ticking off boxes I know will be featured in every arc.

Now add to that my opinion that japanese culture is so hard to understand for any non-japanese that I'm sure there will be moments when you need those translator notes to even get a grasp on why this specific thing right now has any value for the story ( like, say, the male samurai talk that is used by a female in the current arc ), and you can see why I didn't look forward to the starting chapters of this arc at all.

Moving on, Wano seems so prototypically middle-age japanese that I'm not grasped at all by the country or the adventure of it like some of you seem to have been, as it didn't surprise me once, yet. You have the political system, you have seclusion, you have discrimination of women ( funny seeing as Oda, sexismo nr 1, writes it ), you have 'honor over everything', you even have Ronin. Now I'm only two checkboxes away from winning the clichee bingo with Kabuki theatre and someone committing Seppuku.

I'm not saying that those are bad things per se, I'm saying that they didn't grab me at all, personally. I'm happy for everyone that gets a sense of fulfilment and suspense out of the current arc, I just do not ( yet ). As mentioned a few times already, having left the Reverie after some mind-blowing chapters there sure does not help Wano's case in my eyes, either.
