I feel like us Millennials are a beaten, bruised and downtrodden bunch. Not the ones half described here.
We're the ones who really got fed tons and tons of SKY IS THE LIMIT, DREAM BIG, AMERICAN DREAM sugar, we're the ones who were kids in the "End of History" 90's, raised surrounded by cultural masturbation of Boomers crowing about how incredible and awesome their youth was. We're the ones who came of age and into adulthood as things fell apart, not really knowing what the hell was going on, not really understanding how the end of history was bullshit quite yet. The ones asking when things would get back to normal, when the economy would improve and our liberal arts degrees would stop being expensive toilet paper.
The ones who have been endlessly endlessly endlessly shat on by the Boomers as those same things fell apart due to their bullshit. And the whole time just blinking like naive puppies, taking it in the fucking face because none of this is supposed to be happening, none of this is the norm, why is the world hurting so much daddy and mommy?
These kids aren't Millennials. They're Gen Z or whatever you want to call them, and they're raised in a world where all that broken bullshit was obvious, where the full narcissistic elderly idiocy of the Boomers was blatant as hell, where no one is whispering sweet grandiose nothings into their ears about how everything is great and fine and done.
No. They're smarter, more prepared, more engaged and wide awake, fully skeptical as shit about the laughable "wisdom" of the older generations, but not uselessly slacker cynical like Gen X.
They know everyone older than them are a bunch of goddamn clowns of various kinds.
So yes Republicans, they weren't showing respect to Rubio and the NRA lady, because frankly I don't think teens have ever had less reason to respect their elders.
They're better than us and more than anything give me hope for the future.
